Hyperautomation for Air Quality Evaluations: A Perspective of Evidential Three-way Decision-making

Hyperautomation acts as a real digital transformation with the support of several cutting-edge cognitive computation methods that include robotic process automation, natural language processing, artificial intelligence, and other emerging ones, which is conducive to processing complex industrial processes via extending the range of various data-driven cognitive decision-making algorithms. The study of air quality evaluations (AQE) plays a significant role in ensuring healthy atmospheric environments. In view of the objective existence of uncertainties, AQE can be modeled and addressed by a typical data-driven automated decision-making problem, and hyperautomation can provide a reasonable solution via associating with a variety of techniques. This article explores hyperautomation for AQE via evidential three-way large-scale group decision-making (LSGDM) in an intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) setting. First, the notion of intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs) is incorporated into the paradigm of multi-granularity (MG) three-way decisions (TWD), and the model of adjustable MG IF probabilistic rough sets (PRSs) is developed. Second, an IF clustering analysis with the improved technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method is conducted to affirm representative members within a decision group. Third, a novel IF LSGDM method is built via adjustable MG IF PRSs and the evidence reasoning (ER) method. Finally, a case study in the setting of AQE is studied by using the presented evidential three-way LSGDM method. Corresponding experimental analyses are carried out for illustrating the efficiency of hyperautomation for AQE. In general, the proposed method improves the performance of information fusion by virtue of adjustable MG IF PRSs, and the TOPSIS method avoids the influence of subjective factors on decision results. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are a valuable source of data for a wide range of real-time applications, due to their functionality, availability, adaptability, and maneuverability. Working as mobile sensors, they can provide a cost-effective solution for extremely complex tasks, such as inspection, air-to-ground communications, search and rescue, surveillance, among others. Nevertheless, the robots needs to navigate in quite distinct environments and in different dynamism levels, usually facing unpredicted situations, very often using limited sensing and computing capabilities. A large number of solutions to this problem has been featured by the scientific community in the last years, some of them based on machine-learning (ML) methods. Due to its great capability to deal with big data and complexity, as well as its speedy and high-accuracy processing, the ML framework has been used to improve existing technologies and control techniques. In this context, its adoption in several UAV navigation strategies is expected to provide solutions for various problems where UAVs are used in real-time applications. Thus, in order to contextualize the most recent advances, this work provides a detailed survey of relevant researches in which ML techniques have been used in UAV navigation to improve some functional aspects, such as energy-efficiency, communication, execution time, resource management, obstacle avoidance, and path planning. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs) have emerged as a significant physiological condition, being a primary contributor to mortality. Timely and precise diagnosis of heart disease is crucial to safeguard patients from additional harm. Recent studies show that the usage of data driven approaches, such as Deep Learning (DL) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques, in the field of medical science is highly useful in accurately diagnosing heart disease in less time. However, statistical learning and traditional ML approaches require feature engineering to generate robust and effective features from data, which are then used in the prediction models. In the case of large complex data, both processes pose many challenges. Whereas, DL techniques are capable of learning features automatically from the data and are effective at handling large and intricate datasets while outperforming the ML models. This study focuses on the accurate prediction of CVDs, considering the patient’s health and socio-economic conditions while mitigating the challenges presented by imbalanced data. The Adaptive Synthetic Sampling Technique is used for data balancing, while the Point Biserial Correlation Coefficient is used as a feature selection technique. In this study, two DL models, Ensemble based Cardiovascular Disease Detection Network (EnsCVDD-Net) and Blending based Cardiovascular Disease Detection Network (BlCVDD-Net), are proposed for accurate prediction and classification of CVDs. EnsCVDD-Net is made by applying an ensemble technique to LeNet and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), and BlCVDD-Net is made by blending LeNet, GRU and Multilayer Perceptron. SHapley Additive exPlanations is used to provide a clear understanding of the influence different factors have on CVD diagnosis. The network’s performance is evaluated on the basis of various performance metrics. The government and industry have given the recent development of the Internet of Things in the healthcare sector significant respect. Health service providers retain data gathered from many sources and are useful for patient diagnostics and research for pivotal analysis. However, sensitive personal information about a person is contained in healthcare data, which must be protected. Individual privacy protection is a crucial concern for both people and organizations, particularly when those firms must send user data to data centers due to data mining. This article investigated two general states of increasing entropy by changing the entropy of the class set of characteristics based on artificial intelligence and the k-anonymity model in privacy in context, and also three different strategies have been investigated, i.e., the strategy of 'selecting the feature with the lowest number of distinct values,' 'selecting the feature with the lowest entropy,' and 'selecting the feature with the highest entropy.' For future tasks, we can find an optimal strategy that can help us to achieve optimal entropy in the least possible repetition. The results of our work have been compared by lightweight and MH-Internet of Things, FRUIT methods and shown that the proposed method has high efficiency in entropy criteria. © 1988-2012 IEEE.

In today's world, interconnected Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANET) and intelligent transportation systems have become more popular. Although IoV can bring many benefits for the smart cities and provide comforts for the passengers, however, the increasing needs for keeping the QoS and QoE at an acceptable level in time sensitive applications seems crucial and needs to be investigated deeply. Also, allocating the right number of resources to avoid congestions and fill the deficiencies in a distributed manner is a challenging issue. So, with the increase in users, attention must be given to Quality of Service (QoS) and resource allocation. As the vehicle network provides information to provide safety, comfort, and entertainment to drivers and passengers, they are one of the most compelling research topics in intelligent transportation systems. TDMA protocol is used in this study to increase the efficiency of the network and the quality of service it provides. To solve the synchronization problem, the Markov method predicts the size of slots and frames. The scenario field is used in the Markov application section to better predict TDMA gaps on solving the synchronization problem. Accordingly, the higher the quality of service, the lower the latency of the network, and the better the allocation of resources. Optimizing allocation and quality of service is further motivated by reducing collision between packets. In terms of its implementation, this method is divided into two components, the first being the database proposal for constructing the Markov matrix and the second being the simulation on VanetMobisim and implementation of the network in NS2. The proposed method performed better in different scenarios in terms of computational complexity, PDF, latency, and overhead, as shown in the results section. © 2000-2011 IEEE.

The phenomenon of urbanization in Indonesia is inevitable. The new residential and economic centers in suburban areas is also a problem in city development. The gradual planning and development of smart cities in a living lab require consideration of the right location for a living lab. This study wants to show that suburban areas as city buffer zones can become living laboratories for smart city development. The diversity of situations in cities and regencies across Indonesia, the potential for resources, and the problems faced are the challenges of developing a living lab-Garuda Smart City Framework. This research uses the method of reviewing the literature of research publications for the last five years (2019-2023) to obtain information on Smart City development in Indonesia. We collected selected articles from databases in Google Scholar, IEEE, and Scopus using the Publish and Perish 8. The search keywords used were garuda AND Smart city AND Framework. The findings show the potential and dynamics of buffer zones to become appropriate living laboratories. Smart city regional planning can more holistically involve neighborhoods and address urban issues. © 2023 IEEE.

Multi-robot Map Exploration Based on Multiple Rapidly-Exploring Randomized Trees

A map is necessary for tasks such as path planning or localization, which are common to mobile robot navigation. However, a map may be unavailable if the environment in which a robot navigates is unknown. Creating a map requires an exploration algorithm. Such algorithms guide robots to boundaries that separate known portions of a map from the unknown portions. Such boundaries are known as frontiers. There are image processing-based algorithms that detect frontiers. The authors’ previous work uses two, i.e., local and global, rapidly exploring random trees (RRTs) for two-dimensional exploration using a single robot. The present work applies the above to a multiagent system with three robots. A market-based strategy is used to allocate exploration tasks to the robots. Results show that the developed exploration strategy successfully explores a map in a reasonable amount of time compared to image processing-based approaches, and also reduces the map exploration cost. This strategy is readily usable for three-dimensional exploration with drones. It is also shown that the usage of a local frontier detector along with a global frontier detector helps reduce exploration time compared to simply using a global frontier detector alone. As an outline to future work, the paper also shows an extension of the proposed approach towards three-dimensional mapping using a single robot. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The Neural Networks (NN) model which is incorporated in the control system design has been studied, and the results show better performance than the mathematical model approach. However, some studies consider that only offline NN model learning and does not use the online NN model learning directly on the control system. As a result, the controller's performance decreases due to changes in the system environment from time to time. The Reinforcement Learning (RL) method has been investigated intensively, especially Model-based RL (Mb-RL) to predict system dynamics. It has been investigated and performs well in making the system more robust to environmental changes by enabling online learning. This paper proposes online learning of local dynamics using the Mb-RL method by utilizing Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model. We consider Model Predictive Control (MPC) scheme as an agent of the Mb-RL method to control the regulatory trajectory objectives with a random shooting policy to search for the minimum objective function. A nonlinear Mass Spring Damper (NMSD) system with parameter-varying linear inertia is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the system can effectively control high-oscillating nonlinear systems with good performance. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.
