In this paper, a new single-phase five-level boosting inverter with reduced components and simple control technique is presented, suitable for renewable energy systems and electric vehicle (EV) applications. Powered through a DC voltage source, the proposed five-level inverter comprises eight power semiconductor switches and one capacitor. Moreover, only five independent control signals are required to attain double voltage boosting. The maximum voltage stresses of 6/8 switches are also similar as the input voltage. Moreover, alternating operation in the capacitor discharging and charging states ensures self-voltage balancing with small ripple. The topology and operation principles are analyzed in detail, as well as numerous simulation results with different operating conditions of the proposed inverter are provided and discussed for thorough verification.

In the existing works on asymptotics of throughput of covert communications, an adversary is typically assumed to run a single binary hypothesis testing to determine the presence of active transmission, which is equivalent to distinguish between an induced mixture distribution by all codewords and the distribution with an inactive transmitter. In this paper, we show that both of the first and second order asymptotics are O(1) when the adversary can afford running parallel simple binary hypothesis testing against detection of each single codeword. The covert constraint in this case is given as an upper-bound δ on the total variation distance (TVD) between the simple distribution induced by each codeword and the one of pure noise. The result is drastically different in a negative way than the commonly known Square Root Law for covert communication over AWGN channels with a more benign adversary.

With the rapid development of the Internet of Things(IoTs),wearable sensors are playing an increasingly important role in daily monitoring of personal health and *** signal-to-noise-ratio has become the most critical performance factor to *** enhance it,on the one hand,good sensing materials/devices have been employed;on the other hand,signal amplification and noise reduction circuits have been ***,most of these devices and circuits work in an active sampling mode,requiring frequent data acquisition and hence,entailing high-power *** this scenario,a flexible and wearable event-triggered sensor with embedded signal amplification without an external power supply is of great ***,we report a flexible two-terminal piezotronic n-p-n bipolar junction transistor(PBJT)that acts as an autonomous and highly sensitive,current-and/or voltage-mediated pressure *** PBJT is formed by two back-to-back piezotronic diodes which are defined as emitter-base and collectorbase *** force exertion on the emitter side,as a result of the piezoelectric effect,the emitter-base diode is forward biased while the collector-base diode is reverse *** to the inherent BJT amplification effect,the PBJT achieves record-high sensitivities of 139.7 kPa^(-1)(current-based)and 88.66 kPa^(-1)(voltage-based)in sensing *** PBJT also has a fast response time of<110 ms under exertion of dynamic stimuli ranging from a flying butterfly to a gentle finger ***,the PBJT advances the state of the art not only in terms of sensitivity but also in regard to being self-driven and autonomous,making it promising for pressure sensing and other IoT applications.
