Visual Representations of the Water Cycle in science Textbooks

作者: K. Vinisha J. Ramadas K. Vinisha has a master’s degree in environmental science and a bachelor’s degree in education from Bangalore University. She has taught at both the primary and secondary school levels in Mumbai and Bangalore. Her research interests are environmental and science education and gender studies. She has participated in research projects that analysed textbooks for content enrichment pertaining to the environment. At the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Mumbai she studied aspects of gender represented in school textbooks and prepared resource material for teachers at the primary level. E-mail: J. Ramadas is Professor of science education and Centre Director of the HBCSE TIFR Mumbai India. She received an M.Sc. in physics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur in 1976 and a Ph.D. in science education from the HBCSE in 1981. Professor Ramadas is interested in cognitive studies of science learning and school science curricula. She led the development of the Homi Bhabha Curriculum for Primary Science titled ‘Small Science’ published in four languages for which she was awarded the Third World Academy of Sciences Regional Prize in 2011. Professor Ramadas served on the National Curriculum Framework 2005 Science Focus Group. She is a member of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) International Commission on Physics Education. 作者: Robert J. Robel R. J. (Bob) Robelreceived his B.S. in fisheries and wildlife management from Michigan State University an M.S. in forest and wildlife sciences from the University of Idaho and a Ph.D. in wildlife science from Utah State University. He joined the zoology faculty at Kansas State University in 1961 moving from assistant to associate to full professor. During his tenure at K-State he was a Senior Fulbright Research Scholar in the United Kingdom Project Manager of Energy Programs in the Office of Technology Assessment for the United States Congress and served as science advisor for two Kansas governors. He was on the National Rifle Association Board of Directors for 25 years chaired the International Shooter Development Fund and chaired the United States Shooting Team. A Boone and Crockett Club professional member since 1974 he has hunted in the United States Canada Europe and Asia. He retired from K-State in 2003 but still retains an interest in wildlife ecology especially grouse species. His major concern is the loss of wildlife habitat worldwide as the human population expands believing that environmental degradation and habitat destruction are the greatest challenges facing both game and nongame wildlife populations.
