Expanding on an earlier study that assessed the performance of a Q-learning approach for solving the path planning problem for mobile robots, this research implemented the RL approach in a real-world setting employing the RoboMas-ter EP Core. The robotic system also included object detection and recognition through the robot's sensors and a pre-trained YOLOv9 model. The robot navigated to predefined target points while avoiding stationary obstacles. The Q-learning algorithm was trained using the Google Colaboratory platform. Experi-ments conducted at various speeds identified an optimal speed and high success rates in obstacle avoidance and target region accuracy were achieved. Additionally, the object detection sys-tem demonstrated strong performance in real-time applications. Despite these successes, challenges such as high friction and multitasking inefficiencies were identified. Future research should address these limitations by enhancing control systems and the robot's multitasking capabilities, as well as using a computer with better processing power to improve overall system performance further. © 2024 IEEE.

The quality control process performs an acceptance sampling plan to determine if a batch of products meets quality specifications. Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL) defines the acceptable level of defects, but determining the appropriate AQL rate is challenging due to manufacturing process variations. This study utilized Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA) to determine the AQL for acceptance sampling plans and evaluate its performance against the current method using Operating Characteristic Curve. The study identified eighteen failure modes from PFMEA, with severity level 7, occurrence level 3, and detection level 3. The results demonstrated that PFMEA can serve as a valuable reference for modeling acceptance sampling plans. Acceptance sampling with AQL effectively assesses defective batches compared to the current method. Incorporating PFMEA in acceptance sampling plans enables companies to enhance their understanding of process performance and potential risks, empowering them to make informed decisions and improve product quality. © 2024 ACM.

This study examines value proposition enhancement and customer engagement techniques in the context of the integration of mobile applications in small scale start up coffee chains. Startups do not have the same resources and infrastructure for extensive technological integration, like well-established chains, thus operating in unique segment of the industry. The study investigates the transformative influence of mobile applications ordering platforms on customer interactions, and operational efficiency. Specifically, the value proposition, as most mobile applications offer similar promises all centered around convenience, encapsulated in the phrase "Use the App, Skip the Queue". Process Chain Analysis identified the difference of direct interaction for offline orders and the surrogate interactions of application orders, is the root of operational issues, causing frustration in the ordering process. This finding acts as the foundation for the multi-criteria decision tree to assist in selecting the appropriate solution, through calculated weighted score. The solutions selected through this method were kitchen display system, and QR tracking system both scoring 4.64 and 4.84 respectively. UML diagrams were used to provide visual representation for the concepts, to aid in comprehension of how the concept should be implemented and used in the store. The outcomes highlight how the solutions improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction through transparency. The study is simply a concept, which has not been tested and all conclusions have been based on heuristic from previous implementation of similar solutions in restaurants and other food and beverage chains. © 2024 ACM.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the loss of the number of enrollees at universities in many developing countries, including the Philippines. The current study integrated the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to determine factors affecting intention to enroll in the online academic year among undergraduate students during the COVID-19 pandemic. 370 Filipino undergraduate students filled the online survey, which contained 71 questions. The Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) indicated that attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control had significant direct effects on perceived usefulness which subsequently led to an engagement. Regarding the perceived ease of use, SEM indicated that it had a significant direct effect on perceived performance. Furthermore, SEM also indicated that perceived performance and engagement had significant direct effects on perceived effectiveness which subsequently led to the intention to enroll. The integrated TPB and extended TAM can be extended and applied in evaluating the behavioral motives of students to enroll in the online academic year globally that are currently affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. © 2022 ACM.

Mobile banking is an important part of bank sustainability. This study integrated the extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and DeLone & McLean IS Model to determine factors affecting mobile banking loyalty in the Philippines. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach was utilized to analyze the interrelationship among several factors such as social influence (SI), hedonic motivation (HM), self-efficacy (SE), behavioral intention (BI), actual use (USE), and customer satisfaction (CS) to the loyalty (LOY). The research model was tested and validated using data collected through an online survey from 300 Filipino customers. Interestingly, SE was found to be the best predictor of behavioral intention. This study provided clues on the relationship of SE and SI towards HM. Our result concluded a strong relationship between BI, USE, CS, and LOY. Finally, CS was also found to have a strong relationship towards LOY. This research would help banks create a customer-centric mobile banking experience to maintain customer satisfaction and build customer loyalty. In addition, this study suggests that the low prevalence of mobile banking in the Philippines is due to low awareness of the customer. Finally, Philippine banks and policy makers should focus on raising the awareness of mobile banking through proper advertisements and campaigns to enhance mobile banking adoption in the Philippines. © 2023 ACM.

Consumer-centric solutions are one technique to better understanding what the market wants. Taking into account all situations, the ecosystem must support consumer demand, offering the best environment for every company element. The current study develops the Consumer Centric Ecosystem (CCE) through the case study of a "XYZ"as a SME in the Batik business. A combination of sentiment analysis and design thinking approaches is used to develop the CCE. The data was collected between the middle of 2022 and the beginning of 2023. For sentiment research, 8662 Tweets were gathered from social media. Natural language processing (NLP) with Valance Aware Dictionary for Sentiment Reasoning is used in the sentiment analysis. Based on Ekman multiclass, the text mining produced six categories of emotions: Anger, disgust, fear, joy, sadness, and surprise. Design Thinking used data from 11 informants to create prototypes of the value proposition design (VPD) and customer journey (CJ). Steps such as emphasize, define, ideate, prototype, and test were meticulously completed. Anger, disgust, fear, delight, sadness, and surprise were elicited in proportions of 1.44 percent, 0.99 percent, 7.71 percent, 54.83 percent, 4.44 percent, and 30.58 percent. The findings also demonstrated better VPD and CJ. The results also reveal a new CCE from the examination of both combinations. The paper includes additional theoretical and practical discussion. © 2023 ACM.

This study uses a conjoint analysis approach to determine the key factors influencing subscriber preferences for subscribing to Netflix plan. In a rapidly evolving industry, understanding the drivers of subscription choices is critical for market success. Through a designed survey, respondents are presented with different hypothetical Netflix subscription plans characterized by attributes such as price, resolution, same time watch device, downloadable device and device specs. By analyzing respondents' answers from these attributes, researchers aim to find out the relatedness of each attribute and levels with the subscription preference. The study's findings can help Netflix make more strategic decisions about plan options and pricing policies, so that it can better serve the wide range of demands and tastes of customers in the cutthroat streaming market. © 2024 IEEE.

Modeling of an external force estimator for an end-effector of a robot by neural networks

This paper proposes a method to estimate external forces at the tip of a robot end-effector by using a neural network model. In order to avoid the use of an expensive force sensor in the training purpose, the proposed method implements the indirect training method by including the inverse dynamic model of the robot manipulator to the training algorithm with available information from a default robot system. In this method, the robot dynamics equations are necessary for the training, therefore a disturbance observer is adopted to deal with the existing uncertainties and errors. The performance of the proposed estimation method is evaluated through experiments of a 5-DOF robotic experimental platform, comparing to another existing estimation method using recurrent neural network with a type-1 disturbance observer for the external force estimation. The estimation results show that the behavior of the estimated external forces strongly correlates with the applied external forces and the proposed method is superior to the other method. © 2023 The Chinese Institute of Engineers.

eLearning has been utilized as a mode of instruction among medical students amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The present study aimed to investigate the factors influencing the acceptance of eLearning platforms in medical education during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines by employing the latent variables of UTAUT2, along with two additional latent variables gathered from various related literature. A sum of 360 medical students participated and answered an online survey that consists of 40 questions. A stepwise multiple linear regression was utilized and found that performance expectancy (PE), habit (HB), and instructor characteristics (IC), can successfully predict the actual use (AU) of medical students with a precision of 54.22%. A higher performance expectancy (PE), habit (HB), and instructor characteristics (IC) can enhance and promote the acceptance of medical eLearning platforms. This is the first study that has examined the acceptance of eLearning platforms among medical students in the Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic. The outcomes of this research can serve as guidelines for the Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines for the enhancement of eLearning platforms. Although this study only utilized the latent variables of UTAUT2 along with two additional variables: Learning Value and Instructor Characteristics;the findings of this study would still hold significant value for promoting open innovation in eLearning platforms in medical fields worldwide. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s). The objective of this study is to assess the critical factors which influence utilization of the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines specifically CNC Lathe, CNC Milling, CNC 3-Axis, and CNC 5-Axis which are all considered an Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (AMTs). This study also identifies the hurdles and barriers which prevent from accomplishing the desired goals of AMTs utilization. The proposed framework has synthesized previous studies and integrated related studies through conducting a comprehensive literature review. This paper is a theoretical construction that synthesizes previous studies, and centers on three contexts (Perceived Design Capacity, Perceived Performance Efficiency and Manpower Competency) which influence utilization of the said AMT's. This model can provide fabrication industries or fabricators specifically those utilizing CNC machines in their daily operation, academic institutions catering engineering fields, engineers from different fields, engineering students, research and development institutions as well as IT Practitioners and other field of study concerning the use of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine as an Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (AMT) with practical solutions through granting in-depth understanding of whole internal, external, and technological environments, and awarding empirical insight into overcoming barriers to the utilization of AMT and other process innovations in manufacturing organizations. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the utilization rates of the CNC machine being studied against the design capacity, performance efficiency and manpower competency. © 2023 ACM.
