Computational music emotion recognition (MER) is an important task that aims to recognize emotional content in music tracks. Understanding the emotional content of music can help tailor therapeutic interventions to specific emotional needs, potentially improving their effectiveness. Piano music is widely used in music therapy for depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. However, comparatively little work has been done on MER in piano music, which is a challenging task due to the unique difficulties in recognizing emotions in single-timbre music without vocals, especially on valence. In this paper, we propose a novel Double-Mix-Net model that utilizes the multi-layer feature mixing and multi-modal feature mixing methods to improve classification performance. Our model uses both the title of the YouTube music video and the music context to predict the emotion of a given music track. Additionally, we make full use of different granularity features through the multi-layer feature mixing method. Our proposed model achieved state-of-the-art accuracy performance of 73.8% on the Emopia dataset and is the first multi-modal network designed for piano emotion recognition. The results of our study highlight the importance of considering the music title and utilizing multi-layer feature mixing methods in piano music emotion recognition. This work helps the emotional understanding of piano music. Our proposed model can be applied in various domains such as music recommendation systems, film scoring, and game design to enhance the emotional impact of music. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Due to the scarcity of medical images with labels and the fact that medical image data is not easily accessible. Kidney ultrasound (KUS) images have speckle noise, low image quality, acoustic shadows, and other reasons, which pose significant challenges to the kidney ultrasound image segmentation task. To solve the above two problems, a novel consistency learning and contrastive learning-based kidney ultrasound image segmentation method (CC-Net) has been proposed. Specifically, the student-teacher model was adopted as the semi-supervised learning framework and uncertainty estimation was introduced. The Consensus Uncertainty Map (CUM) strategy was proposed to generate segmentation results for the teacher model when calculating uncertainty. To solve the problems of acoustic shadows and low image quality in kidney ultrasound images, a kidney ultrasound image data augmentation method (KUS-AUG) and a convolutional block (KUS-CONV) tailored to the characteristics of kidney ultrasound images were proposed. In addition, contrastive learning was implemented to enhance the encoder's ability to learn more semantic information, due to its inherent advantage in learning data distribution. Finally, a series of experiments were conducted on the ultrasound image dataset and the method achieved the best performance. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper designs a dual-band wearable antenna based on a 2×2 artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) array, which is suitable for wireless body area network (WBAN) applications. It works in the ISM bands of 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz. The antenna has the characteristics of high gain, low profile, good flexibility and body adaptability. The antenna consists of three layers. The top layer is a T-shaped metal strip-loaded tuning branch antenna fed by coplanar waveguide printed on a PI material substrate, which has dual-band resonance frequency. The middle layer is the dielectric material, which is air in the study. The bottom layer is an AMC reflector composed of a 2 × 2 double circular strip array structure printed on a PDMS material substrate. The simulation results show that S11 = -18.2 dB and -25.5 dB in 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz, with the frequency range of 2.3 GHz-2.5 GHz and 5.6 GHz-5.9 GHz. The bandwidth is 200 MHz and 300 MHz for the two resonance frequencies. Also, the gain of the antenna reaches 1.1 dBi and 5.3 dBi in 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz respectively. As a comparison, the gain of the single antenna without AMC structure is -1.3 dBi at 2.45 GHz and 3.14 dBi at 5.8 GHz. Thus, the gain of the antenna increases 2.4 dB and 2.16 dB respectively after applied with AMC structure. The antenna with AMC structure is manufactured and measured in microwave anechoic chamber. The test results show that S11 = -22.8 dB and -19.7 dB at frequency 2.55 GHz and 5.65 GHz, with frequency band of 2.2 GHz to 2.7 GHz and 5.6 GHz to 6.0 GHz. The gain is 0.92 dBi and 4.59 dBi at 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz respectively. Three bending radii were chosen for bending experiments to investigate the effect of bending on the antenna radiation performance. Experimental results demonstrate that S11 and radiation pattern remain stable, with minimal impact. The test results show good agreement with simulation, and the gain is a little lower than simulation because of the manufacture error. The research demonstrates

Attribute-based encryption provides fine-grained access control, ensuring data security in edge computing. However, existing access control schemes face issues such as high computational complexity due to bilinear pairing and key escrow with a single authority, which limit their effectiveness for lightweight terminal devices. To address these challenges, we propose a lightweight and key escrow-free access control scheme on encrypted data. This scheme replaces bilinear pairing with fast elliptic curve scalar multiplication, transferring most computational tasks to edge servers while preserving privacy, thus alleviating the computational burden on terminal devices. Additionally, we design a blockchain-based distributed key management method that allows multiple edge servers to distribute private keys collaboratively, resolving the key-escrow issue. Security analysis and performance evaluation demonstrate that our scheme effectively ensures data confidentiality, resists collusion attacks, and achieves high computational efficiency on the user side with low storage overheads, making it highly suitable for lightweight devices in edge computing. © 2024 IEEE.

Accurate segmentation of kidney ultrasound (KUS) images is of great significance for the diagnosis of kidney diseases. However, KUS images have challenges such as low contrast, large size variations, and acoustic shadow interference. In addition, obtaining labeled data is a major challenge in the field of medical image segmentation. This paper proposes a dual-branch hybrid CNN Transformer combined with a dual teacher semi-supervised segmentation network (DHCT-DT) based on the MT model. The reliability of guidance can be improved between two teachers by constructing consistency regularization constraints. The U-Net architecture is employed between the main teacher and student model. The auxiliary teacher model adopts a dual-branch hybrid CNN Transformer architecture. The multi-scale channel fusion attention mechanism (MSCF) is introduced to capture the feature correlation information of KUS images at different scales and channels. Two different training methods can combine their advantages to fully extract local and global information from images. To demonstrate the applicability of the proposed method, experiments were conducted on two datasets: a KUS dataset and a breast ultrasound (BUS) dataset. Both datasets demonstrated the most competitive segmentation performance. For example, in a semi-supervised experiment using only 10% labeled data in the BUS dataset, the Dice coefficient, Jaccard coefficient, HD, and ASSD reached 82.28%, 76,36%, 13.36mm, and 3.71mm. © 2024 IEEE.

The relatively simple genome, short life cycle, and easy observation of Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) make it an excellent model organism for aging research. Age-stage prediction of C. elegans can help to assess the effectiveness of anti-aging interventions, better explore the role of individual differences in the aging process, and thus promote the development of medicine. However, there are still some problems in accurately predicting the age stages of C. elegans. On the one hand, there may be individual differences among C. elegans due to natural variation and environmental factors. On the other hand, nematode data sets are scarce and image information is complex. In this paper, we perform the age prediction task by studying the body contour morphology, biomarkers, and internal organ changes of C. elegans. Specifically, to address the effects of individual differences and datasets, this paper combines the body contour features, protein aggregation features, and pharyngeal terminal bulb features of C. elegans. In addition, considering the complex information of C. elegans images, this paper proposes a hybrid CNN and Transformer feature extraction method (DFCT), which can fully extract the global and local features of the image. A Dual Path Adaptive Feature Fusion Module (DAFM) is used to fuse the features. A series of experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper outperforms other methods in terms of accuracy and precision, especially in dividing 25 age stages into 3 categories, with an accuracy of 85.93%. © 2024 IEEE.

With the increasing demands for real-time accuracy in visual SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), the critical front-end component of SLAM systems has become the extraction and matching of image features to estimate camera motion pose. Existing feature extraction methods are susceptible to local feature point density and even overlap due to uncertainties in lighting intensity and surrounding environments, leading to uneven distribution of overall feature points. This, in turn, affects the accuracy of feature matching, thereby impacting the performance of the SLAM process. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a novel ORB image feature extraction algorithm based on fuzzy control. Initially, a Gaussian pyramid of the image is constructed, and the Intensity Centroid is calculated to ensure scale and rotation invariance. Subsequently, candidate feature points are extracted using ORB at each pyramid level, then the candidate feature points are selectively filtered through fuzzy control based on the number of candidate feature points and the magnitude of their response values. Finally, a BRIEF descriptor is established for feature matching. The proposed Fuzzy-Controlled ORB Feature Extraction (OFFC) algorithm was experimentally validated on open-source TUM and Mikolajczyk datasets. Results indicate that OFFC successfully avoids excessive density and overlap of extracted feature points, reduces mismatches in image feature points, and enhances the accuracy of feature matching. Notably, OFFC demonstrates adaptability and maintains robust performance in three challenging scenarios: image blurring, varying brightness, and dense similarity of image blocks, highlighting its significant practical value for visual SLAM. © 2024 SPIE.

This article investigates the uplink performance of reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided cell-free (CF) massive multiple-input-multiple-output (mMIMO) systems over spatially correlated Rayleigh fading channels. We consider multiple RISs and low-resolution analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) to improve the system energy efficiency (EE). We first provide an aggregated channel estimation technique with less pilot overhead. By exploiting the statistical channel state information (CSI), we further optimize the RISs’ phase shifts with the goal of minimizing the total normalized mean square error (NMSE) of the estimated aggregated channels. Subsequently, we derive the closed-form expression of the uplink spectral efficiency (SE) for quantization-aware minimum mean-square error (MMSE) combining. Third, based on the closed-form SE expression and power consumption model, we formulate and solve an optimization problem that maximizes the uplink EE under the constraints of transmit power and total ADC quantization bits. Specifically, by leveraging the Dinkelbach transform, Lagrangian dual transform, and fractional programming (FP) techniques, an alternating optimization (AO)-based algorithm is proposed to jointly obtain the bit allocation (BA) scheme among all access points (APs) and the uplink power control (PC) strategy for all users. Finally, numerical results validate the correctness of the closed-form SE expression and show the effectiveness of the proposed optimization methods for phase shift design and EE maximization. © 2014 IEEE.

A challenging problem in seeking to bring multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) techniques into real-world applications, such as autonomous driving and drone swarms, is how to control multiple agents safely and cooperatively to accomplish tasks. Most existing safe MARL methods learn the centralized value function by introducing a global state to guide safety cooperation. However, the global coupling arising from safety constraints and the exponential growth of the state-action space size limit their applicability in instant communication or computing resource-constrained systems and larger multi-agent systems. In this paper, we develop a novel scalable and theoretically-justified multi-agent constrained policy optimization method. This method integrates the rigorous bounds of the trust region method and the bounds of the truncated advantage function to provide a new local policy optimization objective for each agent. Also, we prove that the safety constraints and the joint policy improvement can be met when each agent adopts a sequential update scheme to optimize a κ-hop policy. Furthermore, we propose a practical algorithm called Scalable MAPPO-Lagrangian (Scal-MAPPO-L). The proposed method's effectiveness is verified on a collection of benchmark tasks, and the results support our theory that decentralized training with local interactions can still improve reward performance and satisfy safe constraints. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. Offline Reinforcement Learning (RL) commonly suffers from the out-of-distribution (OOD) overestimation issue due to the distribution shift. Prior work gradually shifts their focus from suppressing OOD overestimation to avoiding overly conservative learning from suboptimal behavior policies to improve generalization. However, most approaches explicitly delimit boundaries for OOD actions based on the support in the dataset, which can potentially impede the data near these boundaries from acquiring realistic estimates. This paper investigates how to loosen the rigid demarcation of OOD boundaries, adaptively extracting knowledge from empirical data to implicitly improve the model's generalization to nearby unseen data. We introduce an adversarial data splitting (ADS) framework that enforces the model to generalize the distribution shifts simulated from the train/validation subsets splitting of the dataset. Specifically, ADS is modeled as a min-max optimization problem inspired by meta-learning and solved by iterating over the following two steps. First, we train the model on the train-subset to minimize its loss on the validation-subset. Then, we adversarially generate the "hardest" train/validation subsets with the maximum distribution shift, making the model incapable of generalization at that splitting. We derive a generalization error bound for theoretically understanding ADS and verify the effectiveness with extensive experiments. Code is available at https://***/DkING-lv6/ADS.
