In English learning, speaking practice is crucial, but traditional classroom teaching can hardly meet the needs of most learners. In this paper, we investigate and improve the two essential techniques of pronunciation error detection and pronunciation quality evaluation in the computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) system. In terms of pronunciation error detection, We extracted phoneme pairs' discriminative acoustic and phonological features. We used Support Vector Machine (SVM) for pronunciation error detection, and the accuracy was improved to 81.26%. For pronunciation quality evaluation, we added two new dimensions of pronunciation fluency and intonation, innovatively designed the word duration ratio, and introduced the Support Vector Regression (SVR) algorithm to achieve the effective integration of different dimensional features. The experiments show that the improved pronunciation quality evaluation model has higher performance and practical value. © 2023 IEEE.

Tomato is one of the most important vegetable crops in the world and is a model plant used to study the ripening of climacteric fleshy *** the ripening process of tomato fruit,flavor and aroma metabolites,color,texture and plant hormones undergo significant ***,low temperatures delayed the ripening process of tomato fruit,inhibiting flavor compounds and ethylene *** and transcriptomics analyses of tomato fruit stored under low temperature(LT,5°C)and room temperature(RT,25°C)were carried out to investigate the effects of storage temperature on the physiological changes in tomato fruit after *** results of transcriptomics changes revealed that the differentially expressed genes(DEGs)involved in tomato fruit ripening,including several kinds of transcription factors(TFs)(TCP,WRKY,MYB and bZIP),enzymes involved in cell wall metabolism[beta-galactosidase(β-GAL),pectinesterase(PE)and pectate lyase(PL),cellulose and cellulose synthase(CESA)],enzymes associated with fruit flavor and aroma[acetyltransferase(AT),malic enzyme(ME),lipoxygenase(LOX),aldehyde dehydrogenase(ALDH),alcohol dehydrogenase(ADH)and hexokinase(HK)],genes associated with heat stress protein 70 and genes involved in the production of plant hormones such as Ethylene responsive factor 1(ERF1),Auxin/indoleacetic acids protein(AUX/IAA),gibberellin regulated *** on the above results,we constructed a regulatory network model of the effects of different temperatures during the fruit ripening *** to the analysis of the metabolomics results,it was found that the contents of many metabolites in tomato fruit were greatly affected by storage temperature,including,organic acids(L-tartaric acid,a-hydroxyisobutyric acid and 4-acetamidobutyric acid),sugars(melezitose,beta-Dlactose,D-sedoheptulose 7-phosphate,2-deoxyribose 1-phosphate and raffinose)and phenols(coniferin,curcumin and feruloylputrescine).This study revealed the effects of storage tempera

Multipath signal recognition is crucial to the ability to provide high-precision absolute-position services by the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System(BDS).However,most existing approaches to this issue involve supervised machine learning(ML)methods,and it is difficult to move to unsupervised multipath signal recognition because of the limitations in signal *** by an autoencoder with powerful unsupervised feature extraction,we propose a new deep learning(DL)model for BDS signal recognition that places a long short-term memory(LSTM)module in series with a convolutional sparse autoencoder to create a new autoencoder ***,we propose to capture the temporal correlations in long-duration BeiDou satellite time-series signals by using the LSTM module to mine the temporal change patterns in the time ***,we develop a convolutional sparse autoencoder method that learns a compressed representation of the input data,which then enables downscaled and unsupervised feature extraction from long-duration BeiDou satellite series ***,we add an l_(1/2) regularizer to the objective function of our DL model to remove redundant neurons from the neural network while ensuring recognition *** tested our proposed approach on a real urban canyon dataset,and the results demonstrated that our algorithm could achieve better classification performance than two ML-based methods(e.g.,11%better than a support vector machine)and two existing DL-based methods(e.g.,7.26%better than convolutional neural networks).

With the pervasive integration of artificial intelligence into all aspects of human life, talent emerges as a primary resource. Upon analysing the current state of talent training in higher education institutions, issues such as dispersed knowledge points, overlapping content, a singular practice approach and ineffective evaluation have been identified. In response to these challenges, this paper proposes a multidisciplinary and comprehensive practical teaching methodology grounded in the knowledge graph framework. It delves into diverse paths for practical teaching and assessment, including aspects like teaching objectives, problem decomposition, resource integration, implementation methods and performance evaluation. The practical application of the SSD algorithm in researching service robot indoor object detection serves as an illustrative example. Employing the holistic practical teaching approach facilitated by the knowledge graph, this model guides students in acquiring object detection expertise, thereby enhancing their comprehensive development. Humans exhibit a remarkable ability to learn quickly from a limited number of labeled samples, a capability that starkly contrasts with that of current machine learning systems. Unsupervised Few-Shot Learning (U-FSL) seeks to bridge this divide by reducing reliance on annotated datasets during initial training phases. In this work, we first quantitatively assess the impacts of Masked Image Modeling (MIM) and Contrastive Learning (CL) on few-shot learning tasks. Our findings highlight the respective limitations of MIM and CL in terms of discriminative and generalization abilities, which contribute to their underperformance in U-FSL contexts. To address these trade-offs between generalization and discriminability in unsupervised pretraining, we introduce a novel paradigm named Masked Image Contrastive Modeling (MICM). MICM creatively combines the targeted object learning strength of CL with the generalized visual feature learning capability of MIM, significantly enhancing its efficacy in downstream few-shot learning inference. Extensive experimental analyses confirm the advantages of MICM, demonstrating significant improvements in both generalization and discrimination capabilities for few-shot learning. Our comprehensive quantitative evaluations further substantiate the superiority of MICM, showing that our two-stage U-FSL framework based on MICM markedly outperforms existing leading baselines. Towards more reliable evaluation in pedestrian detection by rethinking “ignore regions”

It remains a challenging task to detect pedestrians in crowds and it needs more efforts to understand why the detectors fail. When we perform an error analysis based on the traditional evaluation strategy, we find that it produces many misleading false positives, which in fact cover occluded pedestrians. The reason for this is that we usually have two kinds of annotations in the dataset: regular pedestrians (detection targets) labeled by full-body boxes and ignored pedestrians (NOT detection targets) labeled by visible boxes. Ignored pedestrians are labeled as an additional category termed the “ignore region”. Nevertheless, our detectors always predict a full-body box for each pedestrian. This gap results in the following case: when a detector successfully predicts a full-body box for those ignored pedestrians, a false positive is triggered due to the low overlap between the predicted full-body box and the labeled visible box for the ignored pedestrian. This becomes even more harmful as the detector improves and becomes more capable of locating occluded pedestrians. To alleviate this issue, we devise a new pedestrian detection pipeline, which considers the additional visible box at both the detection and evaluation stages. During detection, we predict an extra visible box apart from the full-body box for every instance;during evaluation, we employ visible boxes instead of full-body boxes to match the “ignore region”. We apply the new pipeline to dozens of detection methods and validate the effectiveness of our pipeline in reducing the over-reporting of false positives and providing more reliable evaluation results. © The Author(s) 2024.

Recommendation models utilizing unique identities (IDs) to represent distinct users and items have dominated the recommender systems literature for over a decade. Since multi-modal content of items (e.g., texts and images) and knowledge graphs (KGs) may reflect the interaction-related users' preferences and items' characteristics, they have been utilized as useful side information to further improve the recommendation quality. However, the success of such methods often limits to either warm-start or strict cold-start item recommendation in which some items neither appear in the training data nor have any interactions in the test stage: (1) Some fail to learn the embedding of a strict cold-start item since side information is only utilized to enhance the warm-start ID representations;(2) The others deteriorate the performance of warm-start recommendation since unrelated multi-modal content or entities in KGs may blur the final representations. In this paper, we propose a unified framework incorporating multi-modal content of items and KGs to effectively solve both strict cold-start and warm-start recommendation termed Firzen, which extracts the user-item collaborative information over frozen heterogeneous graph (collaborative knowledge graph), and exploits the item-item semantic structures and user-user behavioral association over frozen homogeneous graphs (item-item relation graph and user-user co-occurrence graph). Furthermore, we build four unified strict cold-start evaluation benchmarks based on publicly available Amazon datasets and a real-world industrial dataset from Weixin Channels via rearranging the interaction data and constructing KGs. Extensive empirical results demonstrate that our model yields significant improvements for strict cold-start recommendation and outperforms or matches the state-of-the-art performance in the warm-start scenario. To address the nonlinearities and external disturbances in unstructured and complex agricultural environments,this paper investigates an autonomous trajectory tracking control method for agricultural ground ***,this paper presents the design and implementation of a lightweight,modular two-wheeled differential drive vehicle equipped with two drive wheels and two caster *** vehicle comprises drive wheel modules,passive wheel modules,battery modules,a vehicle frame,a sensor system,and a control ***,a novel robust trajectory tracking method was proposed,utilizing an improved pure pursuit ***,an Online Particle Swarm Optimization Continuously Tuned PID(OPSO-CTPID)controller was introduced to dynamically search for optimal control gains for the PID *** results demonstrate the superiority of the improved pure pursuit algorithm and the OPSO-CTPID control *** validate the performance,the vehicle was integrated with a seeding and fertilizing machine to realize autonomous wheat seeding in an agricultural *** outcomes reveal that the vehicle of this study completed a seeding operation exceeding 1 km in *** proposed method can robustly and smoothly track the desired trajectory with an accuracy of less than 10 cm for the root mean square error(RMSE)of the curve and straight lines,given a suitable set of parameters,meeting the requirements of agricultural *** findings of this study hold significant reference value for subsequent research on trajectory tracking algorithms for ground-based agricultural robots.

Scientific Machine Reading Comprehension (SMRC) aims to understand scientific long text by providing answers for the given questions. Most existing methods trend to answer the question using Transformer-based models. However, in the scientific domain, the original text is longer than the general domain. In this paper, we proposed a model that consists of a content retrieval module and a pre-trained model module. The content retrieval module finds the most semantically relevant sentences from the text and re-rank them. The seleted sentences and question will be input into the pre-trained model to get the answers. This model could overcome the length limitation of Transformer model length while achieving impressive results. Our model achieved 0.45 score of RougeL, resulting in the second place in the NLPCC2023 Shared Task2. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
