Lexical cohesion arises from a chain of lexical items that establish links between sentences in a text. In this paper we propose three different models to capture lexical cohesion for document-level machine translation: (a) a direct reward model where translation hypotheses are rewarded whenever lexical cohesion devices occur in them, (b) a conditional probability model where the appropriateness of using lexical cohesion devices is measured, and (c) a mutual information trigger model where a lexical cohesion relation is considered as a trigger pair and the strength of the association between the trigger and the triggered item is estimated by mutual information. We integrate the three models into hierarchical phrase-based machine translation and evaluate their effectiveness on the NIST Chinese-English translation tasks with large-scale training data. Experiment results show that all three models can achieve substantial improvements over the baseline and that the mutual information trigger model performs better than the others.

Object based dual watermarking for video authentication

Video cameras have been widely installed in public facilities for the surveillance applications. So, video authentication has becoming increasingly attractive. This paper presents a dual watermarking for video authentication based on moving objects. For each frame, the frame index, as a watermark is first embedded into the moving objects of the corresponding frame using a reversible watermarking method, aiming to detect the temporal tampering. Then the principle content and the details of the moving objects combined with the authentication code, as the other watermark, are embedded into the frame for spatial tampering location and recovery. Specially, a synthesized frame method is proposed for lossless recovery of moving objects and effective extraction of frame index. Statistical analysis and experiment results show that the proposed method can locate spatial, temporal and spatio-temporal tampering accurately. The spatial tampered regions can be recovered approximately and the moving objects can be restored completely when the tampered area is limited.

In this paper, the modelling of a class of distributed water supply networks is considered, where the modelling of pipes, valves, pump stations and reservoirs are presented separately. Two laws, nodal mass balance and energy conservation, are introduced to derive a general model for the water supply networks. The pumps are assumed to be working in parallel and a hybrid model is provided to describe the dynamics of pump stations, the discrete/ continuous variables in which represent the status (on or off) and the speed of pumps, respectively. Finally, a case study is given to illustrate the effectiveness of our proposed methods.

Protein remote homology detection is a key problem in ***,the discriminative methods,such as Support Vector Machine(SVM),can achieve the best *** most efficient approach to improve the performance of the SVM-based methods is to find a general protein representation method that is able to convert proteins with different lengths into fixed length vectors and captures the different properties of the proteins for the *** bottleneck of designing the protein representation method is that native proteins have different *** by the success of the pseudo amino acid composition(PseAAC) proposed by Chou,we applied this approach for protein remote homology *** new indices derived from the amino acid index(AAIndex) database are incorporated into the PseAAC to improve the generalization ability of this *** experiments on a well-known benchmark show this method achieves superior or comparable performance with current state-of-the-art methods.

With developments of energy harvesting technolo-gies, rechargeable Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are in-creasing. This paper introduces the energy renewable property and further proposes a novel 2-hop geographic node-disjoint multi-path routing algorithm TPGFPlus in energy consumption balanced duty-cycled WSNs. In our TPGFPlus, a forwarding node selects its next-hop node which is closest to the based station among all its 1-hop and 2-hop neighbor nodes. Moreover, to prolong network lifetime, not all the nodes are awake for sensing and communication in our work since a sleep scheduling algorithm (EC-CKN) is applied to make the network be duty-cycled. We further evaluate the performance of TPGFPlus algorithm under three different forwarding policies, to meet different application requirements. Analysis and simulation results show that TPGFPlus out-performs previous algorithm TPGF on finding more average number of paths and shorter average length of paths, yet without causing additional energy consumption. We also validate different forwarding policies that bring distinct performance improvements. © 2013 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel despeckling algorithm that can be used to enhance image quality in medical ultrasound images. Firstly, the log-transformed images are transformed by dual-tree complex wavelet transform (DTCWT). And then, we use a non-Gaussian statistical model with an adaptive smoothing parameter for ideal image signal in the transformed domain. According to Bayesian theory, the MAP estimator is obtained with a proposed adaptive threshold which has better despeckling performance by exploiting the interscale properties of wavelet coefficients. The proposed approach results in significant speckle reduction and preserve details of ultrasound images at the same time while the introduced distortions are not noticeable.

Eukaryotic mRNAs consist of two forms of transcripts:poly(A)+ and poly(A),based on the presence or absence of poly(A) tails at the 3 ***(A)+ mRNAs are mainly protein coding mRNAs,whereas the functions of poly(A) mRNA are largely *** studies have shown that a significant proportion of gene transcripts are poly(A) or bimorphic(containing both poly(A)+ and poly(A) transcripts).We compared the expression levels of poly(A) and poly(A)+ RNA mRNAs in normal and cancer cell *** also investigated the potential functions of these RNA transcripts using an integrative workflow to explore poly(A)+ and poly(A) transcriptome sequences between a normal human mammary gland cell line(HMEC) and a breast cancer cell line(MCF-7),as well as between a normal human lung cell line(NHLF) and a lung cancer cell line(A549).The data showed that normal and cancer cell lines differentially express these two forms of *** ontology(GO) annotation analyses hinted at the functions of these two groups of transcripts and grouped the differentially expressed genes according to the form of their *** data showed that cell cycle-,apoptosis-,and cell death-related functions corresponded to most of the differentially expressed genes in these two forms of transcripts,which were also associated with the ***,translational elongation and translation functions were also found for the poly(A) protein-coding genes in cancer cell *** demonstrate that poly(A) transcripts play an important role in cancer development.

With the development of social media, online documents such as the comments of news articles, blogs and microblogs have received great attention, and the sentiment analysis via online documents has become one popular research area. This paper focuses on establishing user sentimental space obtained from online documents to analyze user's personalized sentiments, which aims to identify user's sentimental feature. Affection, sentiment and attributes of user are firstly employed to build user's personalized sentimental space. Then, the general constrains of user sentiments space are proposed to calculate user's personality. And finally we seek out sentimental leaders who paly pivotal role in the leading public opinions. Our works can give some suggestions for decision makers when urgent event happen.

Constructive Interference (CI) proposed in the existing work (e.g., A-MAC [1], Glossy [2]) may degrade the packet reception performance in terms of Packet Reception Ratio (PRR) and Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI). The packet reception performance of a set of nodes transmitting simultaneously might be no better than that of any single node transmitting individually. In this paper, we redefine CI and propose TriggerCast, a practical wireless architecture which ensures concurrent transmissions of an identical packet to interfere constructively rather than to interfere non-destructively. CI potentially allows orders of magnitude reductions in energy consumption and improvements in link quality. Moreover, we for the first time present a theoretical sufficient condition for generating CI with IEEE 802.15.4 radio: concurrent transmissions with an identical packet should be synchronized at chip level. Meanwhile, co-senders participating in concurrent transmissions should be carefully selected, and the starting instants for the concurrent transmissions should be aligned. Based on the sufficient condition, we propose practical techniques to effectively compensate propagation and radio processing delays. TriggerCast has 95 th percentile synchronization errors of at most 250ns. Extensive experiments in practical testbeds reveal that TriggerCast significantly improves PRR (from 5% to 70% with 7 concurrent senders, from 50% to 98.3% with 6 senders) and RSSI (about 6dB with 5 senders).
