Na2S2O8/CuFe2O4 addition and hydrothermal pretreatment were combined in this paper to ameliorate the dewatering performance (DP) of sludge with specific-resistance of filtration (SRF), time of capillary suction (CST), and water content (Wc) as well as water types investigated. The results shown the synergistic effect between Na2S2O8/CuFe2O4 addition and hydrothermal pretreatment and the DP of sludge reached to the best when the hydrothermal temperature was 150oC, the addition amount of Na2S2O8 was 0.08 mmol/g-VSS and the mass ratio of Na2S2O8/CuFe2O4 was 2.0. Through the analysis of water distribution, it was also demonstrated that the sludge structure was destroyed with the surface moisture released. All the results obtained shown the significant impact of the combined methods on ameliorating DP of sludge and promoting sludge recovery and utilization. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2020.

A reasonable air supply mode and air duct structure can help improve the thermal environment performance of the data center and meet the requirements of safety and energy saving. Take the even number (4 columns) cabinet as a sample, three typical floor air supply modes are studied, including open aisle (contrast mode), hot aisle containment and cold aisle containment. By changing the static pressure layer height and the floor perforation rate, 12 numerical models were established and analyzed. A performance index is proposed as temperature uniformity coefficient (Kj) in this paper and applied to evaluate the thermal environment of different models and select the optimal model. Thereby, the velocity field, temperature field and humidity field in the data center using floor air supply are tested and verified, and the results are compared with the simulation results. The studies show that the three typical modes of air supply have respectively optimal static pressure layer height and floor perforation rate. It can be concluded that the cold aisle containment mode is worthier of recommendation. This investigation can provide reference for the structure design and technical parameters selection of the air duct under the data center floor. © ACRA 2018 - 9th Asian Conference on Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning. The compound effect of configurations of air supply and return ducts can noticeably improve the internal airflow distribution and optimize the thermal performance of the cold storage cabinet. This paper studies the cold storage cabinet with static pressure space and the air-supply mode of upper supply and upper return by changing the air duct configuration. Nine numerical models are proposed and analyzed by changing the angle of the air return plate (a=30°,a=45°,a=60°) and perforation ratio of the air supply plate (f=10%,f=20%,f=30%). The optimal model is found after detailed comparison, that is the airflow distribution and thermal performance are the best with the air return plate angle a at 45° and the perforation ratio of the air supply plate f at 10%. Thereafter, the velocity, temperature field of the cold storage cabinet using the optimal model are measured with changing air supply velocity and temperature. Experimental verification is found in accord with the results of numerical simulation. Furthermore, in order to evaluate the satisfaction of the thermal performance of the cold storage cabinet, evaluation index is proposed to evaluate the effect of air duct configuration and it was determined an appropriate range of the angle of the air return plate and perforation ratio of the air supply plate in the cold storage cabinet. This investigation can work as a reference for the interior design of cold storage cabinet for similar use. © ACRA 2018 - 9th Asian Conference on Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning. A three-DOF(degree of freedom) parallel mechanism is designed and integrated with the moveable wall which the solar photovoltaic panels are installed on it. In order to control the spatial posture of the wall, geometric analysis was used to get the kinematic inverse solution and the kinematic positive solution of the mechanism, to obtain the relationship among push distance, rotation angle and flip angle. MATLAB was used to get numerical solution and show the relationship of them intuitively. The motor control program was designed and optimized through feedback structure. The motor could be controlled according to the deviation. Result indicates the wall can be controlled more accurately according to the change of solar angle and gets the maxmal generating efficiency.

Experimental contrast on the cooling performance of direct evaporative all fresh air handling units with R32 and R410A

R32, with similar performance to R410A and low GWP, has been applied to refrigeration equipment for industry, commerce and similar purposes. There is an obvious tendency for R410A to be replaced by R32. As a result, the study of replacing R410A with R32 for direct evaporative all fresh air handling units(DEAFAHU), as an important building fresh air supply equipment, is needed urgently at present. In this study, a DEAFAHU originally using R410A is charged with R32 directly with the unit structure and components kept consistent. The experimental contrast between the unit performance using R410A and R32 indicates that the unit performance with R32 is lower than or equal to that with R410A due to direct charge replacement. Under the cooling condition, when ambient temperature is 35℃ and below, the highest dis-charge temperature of R410A and R32 unit is 94.72℃, which is in the acceptable range; while when ambient temperature above 35℃, the discharge temperature of R32 unit has a greater effect on the performance than R410A unit. Then, cooling unit by spraying liquid to keep the discharge temperature of R32 unit at around 90℃. Along with the discharge temperature dropping, the degree of under cooling and superheat and the energy efficiency ratio of unit get lower to a certain extent, so is the cooling capacity. Therefore, the DEAFAHU with R32 can sustain performance and is ensured to work safely in the 90℃. For DEAFAHU, the replacement with R32 needs to notice the high discharge temperature under the cooling condition above 35℃. The technology is worthy recommendation that uses liquid injection cooling with the reduce of cooling capacity to keep the discharge temperature of unit around 90℃.

In the more and more expanding and complicated data center, requirements on air conditioning system and the air distribution arrangement are getting higher and higher. One of the resolutions is improving the airflow uniformity and cooling the local over-hot area by raising the floor in the data center. With a typical mode of four rows of cabinets in the data center as a sample. This paper uses Computational fluid dynamic (CFD) to investigate the influence of the six raised floor heights (0.2m, 0.4m, 0.6m, 0.8m, 1m and 1.2m) on the airflow distribution of three types of under-floor air distribution (the open aisle, the cold aisle containment and the hot aisle containment). Optimization is done on performance indexes, including supply/return heat index (SHI/RHI), return cooling index (RCI) and return temperature index (RTI), with which the condition of subcooling / overheating of all cabinets and the characteristics of the airflow organization in the data center are reflected and the thermal environment in the data center is revealed. Normally, the cooling effect and the uniformity of the airflow can be improved by raising the floor height. However, this won’t work well when the floor height reaches a certain level. Therefore, based on the comparative analysis on the 18 different cases in this investigation, the recommended range of raised floor height in data centers of different construction can be obtained and verified in the experimental tests. The experimental results turn out to be in accordance with the simulation results, which proves the range recommended in this investigation is valuable.

Experimental Analysis on Refrigerant Charge Optimization for Cold Storage Unit

Cold storage composed of compressor condensing unit and air cooler is widely applied in refrigeration industry. Its performance is noticeably influenced by refrigerant charge. However, it is difficult to charge the refrigerant accurately for better unit performance due to the changing composition matched. In this paper, a method of refrigerant charge for cold storage is proposed in trying to solve this problem. Calculation is done in the first place by using modified inside capacity estimation, and then testing performance parameters including cooling capacity and energy efficiency ratio (EER) in a filling test and considering the feedback of performance parameters including sub-cooling degree, super heating degree and discharge temperature to determine the best range of refrigerant charge. This study also considers the environmental characteristics of the hot summer and cold winter zone and conducts study under 4 typical work conditions from high to low ambient temperatures. Based on the method presented, a well matched result of refrigeration R404A charge is worked out and verified in the experiment for a cold storage composed of a 5-HP air cooler and air cooled condenser. The results show that, this method can be recommended as a significant reference for estimating refrigerant charge.

3-D full-loop simulation of a high-density circulating fluidized bed

Three-dimensional (3-D) simulations have been developed to simulate the flow behaviors in a full-loop high-density circulating fluidized bed with different riser exit geometry. The Large Eddy Simulation (LES) turbulence model is used for gas phase, and the multiphase particle-in-cell (MP-PIC) model is used for solid phase. The influences of five different riser exit geometries upon the solid mass flux, pressure distribution, the particle concentration and velocity distribution were systematically investigated. It is shown that (i) the type of exit has a significant effect on solid mass flux, local pressure loss and particle concentration;(ii) compared with the rest of the four kinds of exit, the use of type C smooth exit results in the higher solid mass flux and particle concentration in the circulating fluidized bed;(iii) pronounced asymmetry can be found in radial distribution of solids concentration in the high flux riser with asymmetric exit, the time-averaged solids concentration at the exit side was larger than the opposite side. © 2016, Science Press. Experimental investigations were conducted on refrigerant distributions in various throttling conditions in a 5-HP split room air conditioner (RAC) equipped with micro-channels. Experiment results show a tendency of abrupt decrease after a slight increase in both cooling capacity and EER when the width of expansion valve opening gradually increases. The best performance was obtained when the inlet pressure of the microchannel evaporator is 993.6kPa, which was confirmed in the analysis of refrigerant distribution mechanism revealed in the infrared thermographs. Comparisons are made between cooling capacity and EER of the RAC equipped with micro-channel evaporator working with the optimal throttling condition and those of a typical RAC equipped with a finned-tube evaporator with equal heat transfer area. The results reveal an average cooling capacity of the micro-channel evaporator RAC to be 4.8% higher than that of the finnedtube evaporator RAC and an average EER over 5% higher.

A mathematical method is presented and verified in detail with a sample case for correcting dry-bulb and wet-bulb temperature(D&WBT) allowances set in currently enacted Chinese national room air conditioner (RAC) standard. This method works based on the investigation of RAC performance test, the analysis of the weigh ratios of D&WBTs' effect on cooling capacity (CC) and energy efficiency ratio (EER), and the determination of the D&WBTs range where both CC and EER reach the maximum increase gradient. Comparisons between the standard uncertainties of D&WBTs within the allowances with and without correction, and comparisons between the combined standard uncertainties of the measurement CC (EER) before and after correction are made in detail. The results show that, the corrected D&WBTs allowances with weigh ratio considered can noticeably improve the accuracy of measured CC and EER profiling their true values and effectively lower the uncertainties in evaluating energy efficiency of a RAC unit.
