Detecting faulty edges of complex dynamical networks based on compressive sensing

As an important technology to improve network reliability, fault diagnosis has gained wide attention in complex dynamical networks. However, few studies focused on detecting the structure of broken edges when faults occur. In this paper, due to the natural sparsity of complex dynamical networks, a completely data-driven method based on compressive sensing is established to detect the structure of faulty edges from limited measurements. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator algorithm is applied to solve the reconstruction problem. In addition, the method is also applicable to multilayer networks. The faulty edges in both the intralayer network and the interlayer network can be fully identified. Compared with other methods, the main advantages of the proposed method lie in two aspects. First, the structure of faulty edges can be obtained directly with limited measurements. Second, the proposed method is less time consuming and more efficient due to less data processing. Numerical simulations involving single layer, multilayer and real-world complex dynamical networks are given to demonstrate the accuracy of detecting the structure of faulty edges from the proposed method.(c) 2022 The Franklin Institute. In this paper,we revisit the interval observer design problem of harmonic oscillator system with unknown but bounded external disturbance and measurement *** the bounding information of the external disturbance and measurement noise,a high-gain interval observer is firstly defined and constructed for the harmonic oscillator system to realize the interval estimation on the state and the robust control of the ***,a switched high-gain interval observer is proposed to reduce the influence of the measurement noise for a tighter interval width on the state ***,some numerical simulations are given to verify the theoretical results.

Convergence analysis of the modified adaptive extended Kalman filter for the parameter estimation of a brushless DC motor

This article concentrates on the parameter estimation of brushless DC motor, where the stator current and winding back electromotive force are taken as the motor states, while the stator resistance and inductance are taken into consideration and augmented into the state vector. Based on this augmented model, a modified adaptive extended Kalman filter is proposed which updates the process noise covariance matrix in real time with the current input-output data, and takes the state estimates by the traditional extended Kalman filter as one-step estimation for the calculation of the covariance matrix. The convergence analysis is given to verify the theoretical results. Finally, the simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively improve the estimation accuracy.

The secured access is studied in this paper for the network of the image remote *** sensor in this network encounters the information security when uploading information of the images wirelessly from the sensor to the central collection *** order to enhance the sensing quality for the remote uploading,the passive reflection surface technique is *** one eavesdropper that exists nearby this sensor is keeping on accessing the same networks,he may receive the same image from this *** goal in this paper is to improve the SNR of legitimate collection unit while cut down the SNR of the eavesdropper as much as possible by adaptively adjust the uploading power from this sensor to enhance the security of the remote sensing *** order to achieve this goal,the secured energy efficiency performance is theoretically analyzed with respect to the number of the passive reflection elements by calculating the instantaneous performance over the channel fading *** on this theoretical result,the secured access is formulated as a mathematical optimization problem by adjusting the sensor uploading power as the unknown variables with the objective of the energy efficiency maximization while satisfying any required maximum data rate of the eavesdropper ***,the analytical expression is theoretically derived for the optimum uploading *** simulations verify the design approach.

In this paper, a sensor network is used to implement the distributed observer design problem for a linear time-invariant mobile target system with constant or time-varying velocity. Each sensor can only access a part of the output information of the target. Two types of interacting dynamics are endowed to each sensor, one is a consensus-based algorithm for the state estimation using the local measurements, while the other is a leader-following flocking-like algorithm such that the mobile sensors can avoid collision, maintain communication, and track the target. By adopting adaptive coupling gains on the consensus-based term in the state estimation algorithm, a fully distributed observer which is independent of the communication topology associated with the sensor network is constructed. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed theoretical results.

Damage Detection and Assessment of Broken Wires in Cables of a Bridge Based on Magnetic Flux Leakage

To detect the broken cable signal and extract the damage characteristics of a broken wire, a magnetic testing device for broken wires based on magnetic flux leakage (MFL) is designed. For the broken wire damage on the cable surface, the device is effective. At first, the magnetic dipole model and the model of an excitation magnetic circuit are studied and a damage detection model based on MFL is established;a permanent magnet excitation-based method for MFL testing is proposed;afterwards, module mechanisms for magnetic testing are designed for damage detection on cables;finally, data pertaining to detected signals are processed by a moving average method, Fourier transform, and wavelet transform. The simulation and test results show the peak-to-valley ratios of the voltage measured from damage directly under the testing modules are directly proportional to the damage to the broken wires in the cables. The measured signal levels after rotating the head through 30 degrees only reach 50% of those where the damage is directly opposite to the sensor.

Discrete fractional order PID controller design for nonlinear systems

In this study, a discrete fractional order PID controller for nonlinear systems is proposed. U-model is firstly employed to transform nonlinear systems into a linear-like model and model complexity is then degraded and easier for controller design. Then, a new discrete fractional order PID control law in difference equation is presented which takes advantage of two more adjustable parameters. Finally, robust stability of the control law is analysed. Both deterministic and stochastic examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed controller.

Consensus-Based Distributed Reduced-Order Observer Design for LTI Systems

In this article, we refocus on the distributed observer construction of a continuous-time linear time-invariant (LTI) system, which is called the target system, by using a network of observers to measure the output of the target system. Each observer can access only a part of the component information of the output of the target system, but the consensus-based communication among them can make it possible for each observer to estimate the full state vector of the target system asymptotically. The main objective of this article is to simplify the distributed reduced-order observer design for the LTI system on the basis of the consensus communication pattern. For observers interacting on a directed graph, we first address the problem of the distributed reduced-order observer design for the detectable target system and provide sufficient conditions involving the topology information to guarantee the existence of the distributed reduced-order observer. Then, the dependence on the topology information in the sufficient conditions will be eliminated by using the adaptive strategy and so that a completely distributed reduced-order observer can be designed for the target system. Finally, some numerical simulations are proposed to verify the theoretical results.

Distributed observer is an effective scheme for state estimation of a targeted system, utilizing a network of sensors to perform local output measurements. In this article, the problem of designing a distributed observer for a linear time-invariant system with external disturbances is addressed. The objective is to perform state estimation of such a system while simultaneously mitigating the impact of external disturbances and maintaining the distributed communication characteristics among the sensors. To achieve this, a completely distributed observer with robustness against disturbances is developed by combining the high-gain observer technique and the adaptive coupling strength strategy. Initially, a traditional high-gain observer is used for the state estimation on the observable subsystem, and subsequently a high-gain observer without peaking is introduced to avoid the peaking phenomenon. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to verify the theoretical results.

This paper proposed a vessel segmentation method based on Gabor features and U-Net. According to the eigenvectors of Hessian matrix of each pixel in the image, the vessel direction of each point was obtained to set the direction of Gabor filter, and the Gabor features of different vessel width at each point were extracted to establish the 6-D vectors of each point. By reducing the dimension of the 6-D vector, the 2-D vector of each point was obtained and fused with the original image G channel. U-Net was used to classify the fused image to segment vessels. The experimental results of this method in DRIVE dataset showed that this method had a good effect on the detection of small vessels and vessels at the intersection. © 2022 SPIE.
