Head-related Transfer Functions (HRTFs) refer to the spectral filtering from sound sources to listeners' eardrums or ear canals. As an effective model structure, the degree of the IIR filter approximation of the HRTFs, whose design and implementation is a specific spectrum function approximation process, is much lower than that of the FIR. Based on the assessment of HRTFs different importance for sound sources recognition in different spectrum bands, and associated with some perspectives of psychoacoustics in spatial hearing, adaptive and revalued coding genetic algorithm (GA) is applied to the approximation of the HRTFs zero-pole model. The results show that, on an average, the performance of adaptive GA is better than that of the traditional GA. ©2008 IEEE.

A compressive sensing based mobile video communication system

A compressive sensing (CS) based mobile video communication system is proposed to meet the requirement that video service needs low-complexity video encoder in the mobile internet. In this system, the mobile client uses CS based video encoder having low computational complexity and power, and then its output bit-stream is decoded using CS recovery algorithm in the fixed base station or network server. The decoded video signal is transformed again as bits by the traditional H.264/MPEG video encoder, and the central base station transmits them to mobile clients so as to realizing low-complexity video decoding. The simulation experiments show that the proposed CS based mobile video communication system has the better rate-distortion performance, and can ensure high quality video reconstruction at low measurement rates. © 2013 IFSA.

In this paper, the design of a high-precision WebGIS system for island application is presented. The system is developed based on Cesium to support 2D, 2.5D and 3D map capabilities, and provide networked comprehensive geographic information service. Concerning the practical requirements for complicated configuration of island surface, improved methods for interpolation correction, data structure optimization, visible analysis and island path planning are introduced to improve system accuracy and performance. The system adopts B/S architecture and modular development ideas for easier access and further updates. The main functional modules of the island WebGIS provide basic operations, including multidimensional scene browsing, base map switching, multi-control operation, layer plotting, contour line, intervisibility and terrain factors measurement. Besides, the characteristic functions of key techniques such as profile analysis, viewshed analysis, and island path planning are implemented. The test examples show that the overall functional performance of the system is satisfactory for island 3D GIS service.. © 2021 Association for Computing Machinery. All rights reserved.

A new object tracking scheme for multi-camera surveillance with non-overlapping views is proposed in this paper. Brightness transfer function (BTF) is used to establish relative appearance correspondence between different views. Mixtures of probabilistic principal component analysis (MPPCA) is incooperated to learn the subspace of brightness transfer function with the concern to deal with multiple different brightness areas in a scene. The incremental major color spectrum histogram (IMCSH) is used as similarity measure for reliable matching. Experimental results with real world videos show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

This paper proposes a novel global stereo matching method using aggregated likelihoods and multi-scale priors. The likelihoods of dense stereo correspondences as data term can be robustly expressed by aggregated matching costs based on Weber feature descriptors in an asymmetrical linear filtering model. The multi-scale priors on disparity surface are designed to capture scene smooth term from larger neighborhood besides 4-connected neighborhood. The presented stereo approach being relatively simple does not rely on image segmentation and any scene semantic analysis. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed stereo matching algorithm can produce the dense smooth disparity results comparable to those of excellent stereo matching techniques. © 2012 IEEE.

This paper proposes a robust piecewise planar multiview stereo (MVS) approach specifically designed for urban scenes. These architectural scenes are problematic for traditional computer vision methods. In our work, we focus on exploiting some useful constraints of artificial structures such as piecewise coplanarity and boundaries of superpixels. Firstly, we reconstruct quasi-dense 3D point clouds of urban scenes using patches-based MVS (PMVS) method. Secondly, a set of 3D candidate planes are generated by the obtained point clouds without any assumption on the normals of planes, unlike famous Manhattan-world assumption. Then, we segment multi-view images with watershed algorithm and modify the contours of superpixels by the classical Douglas-Peucker approximation algorithm to fit the contours to the boundaries of objects in urban scenes as much as possible. Finally, we use the candidate planes as labels and superpixels as nodes to formulate our Markov Random Field (MRF) optimization problem, then a piecewise planar depth map for each view is recovered by solving the optimization problem using graph-cuts. Experiments show that our method outperforms previous approaches in terms of accuracy. © 2011 IEEE.

A NOVEL METHOD TO REALIZE COMPRESSED VIDEO SUPER-RESOLUTION RECONSTRUCTION

This letter proposes a novel method of compressed video super-resolution reconstruction based on MAP-POCS (Maximum Posterior Probability-Projection Onto Convex Set). At first assuming the high-resolution model subject to Poisson-Markov distribution, then constructing the projecting convex based on MAP. According to the characteristics of compressed video, two different convexes are constructed based on integrating the inter-frame and intra-frame information in the wavelet-domain. The results of the experiment demonstrate that the new method not only outperforms the traditional algorithms on the aspects of PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio), MSE (Mean Square Error) and reconstruction vision effect, but also has the advantages of rapid convergence and easy extension.

The quality of sleep has a great relationship with health. The result of sleep stage classification is an important indicator to measure the quality of sleep. It was found that the symbolic transfer entropy about wake and the first stage of non-rapid eye movement sleep reflect on the changes of sleep stage. And it was confirmed by T test and multi-samples experiments. The symbolic transfer entropy can apply into automatic sleep stage classification. By Multi-parameter analysis it could achieve a higher accuracy of sleep stage classification. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In this paper, symbolic relative entropy was used to analyze normal electrocardiogram (ECG), the ECG taken from patient with congestive heart failure (CHF) and Atrial fibrillation (AF). Statistical testing showed that the symbolic relative entropy of normal ECG was distinctly higher than that of CHF while the symbolic relative entropy of CHF was distinctly higher than that of AF. It discoved that symbolic relative entropy can be used to analyze the different pathological ECG which could be used to assisted clinical diagnosis. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The cross-correlation performance between epilepsy electroencephalogram (EEG) signals reflects the status of epilepsy patients which has importance for analyzing long-range correlation of non-stationary signals. For the first time, detrended cross-correlation analysis (DCCA) was applied to analyze different physiological and pathological states of epilepsy EEG signals. It were compared the difference of DCCA values between epilepsy patients' EEG signals and normal subjects' EEG signals. It was found that the DCCA values of epilepsy patients' EEG signals increased compared the normal subjects' EEG signals which can be helpful for medical diagnosis and treatment. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
