In order to optimize the coil design of electric vehicle (EV) high power resonant wireless power transfer (WPT) system and improve its transfer efficiency, an equivalent circuit model of two-coil series-series topology is analyzed in this paper. Four optimal factors that affect the system transfer efficiency are proposed, i.e. the number of coil turns, the mean radius of coils, the transfer distance and the load. Based on the consideration of the equivalent series resistance of the coils, it can be found that the number of coil turns, the mean coil radius, and the load have the optimal values for the optimal transfer efficiency, while the shorter the transfer distance is, the higher the transfer efficiency is. By using the simulation software COMSOL, similar relationships between four factors and the transfer efficiency can be achieved with the calculation results. Moreover, by repeating the calculation using the simulation coil resistance, the differences between the calculation results and the simulation results are explained. Therefore, the WPT coil optimal method with proposed four optimal factors is verified through calculation and simulation.

In order to evaluate the hydraulic performance of a regulator, the pressure loss and the stabilization performance of the regulator installed in the fire water monitor were introduced. The effects of structures on a regulator were investigated by the structural model made in UG and the flow simulation conducted in ANSYS. The hydraulic performance of a star-shaped regulator was analyzed with different structure parameters, such as the blade number, axial length and rounded-corner. The effects of structure parameters on the regulator were revealed, based on which the hydraulic performance of the improved regulator with different blade numbers was analyzed. The results show that the improved regulator with two cross-sections in dislocation and six even-distributed blades has the better hydraulic performance. The preliminary experimental results show that the improved regulator can improve the jet range of a fire water monitor.

We successfully synthesized and characterized the triangular lattice anitferromagnet Ba8MnNb6O24, which comprises equilateral spin-5/2 Mn2+triangular layers separated by six non-magnetic Nb5+layers. The detailed susceptibility, specific heat, elastic and inelastic neutron scattering measurements, and spin wave theory simulation on this system reveal that it has a 120 degree ordering ground state below TN= 1.45 K with in-plane nearest-neighbor exchange interaction ≈ 0.11 meV. While the large separation 18.9Å between magnetic layers makes the inter-layer exchange interaction virtually zero, our results suggest that a weak easy-plane anisotropy is the driving force for the km= (1/3, 1/3, 0) magnetic ordering. The magnetic properties of Ba8MnNb6O24, along with its classical excitation spectra, contrast with the related triple perovskite Ba3MnNb2O9, which shows easy-axis anisotropy, and the iso-structural compound Ba8CoNb6O24, in which the effective spin-1/2 Co2+spins do not order down to 60 mK and in which the spin dynamics shows sign of strong quantum effects. Woven fabric reinforced shape memory polymer composites(WFRSMPCs) with high stiffnesses and high recovery forces are becoming a hot topic in the smart materials area. In the paper, the thermomechanical properties of WFRSMPCs is studied by employing the multi-scale theory to establish the microscopic model for fiber bundles and developing a mesoscopic model for the WFRSMPCs. The viscoelastic properties and the shape memory behavior of the WFRSMPCs are numerically simulated and the effects of process parameters on these properties are studied. The research findings could provide a basis for design and application of WFRSMPCs in engineering.

Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is a severe breast disease. It generates little symptom and may be neglected in prodromal stage. In this study, we developed a novel DCIS detection method based on breast thermography, which can provide earlier alert than other exams. We created a 40 breast-thermogram dataset. We used six statistical measures, and we used fractal dimension to describe the texture measure. The extreme learning machine was used as the classifier. Our developed system yielded a sensitivity of 93.0 ± 2.6%, a specificity of 92.5 ± 2.6%, and an accuracy of 92.8 ± 1.8%. The extreme learning machine was better than support vector machine, artificial neural network, decision tree, and weighted k-nearest neighbors. Besides, our developed system was superior to six state-of-the-art approaches. © 2017 Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature

Solving chemical dynamic optimization problems with ranking-based differential evolution algorithms

Dynamic optimization problems(DOPs) described by differential equations are often encountered in chemical engineering. Deterministic techniques based on mathematic programming become invalid when the models are non-differentiable or explicit mathematical descriptions do not exist. Recently, evolutionary algorithms are gaining popularity for DOPs as they can be used as robust alternatives when the deterministic techniques are invalid. In this article, a technology named ranking-based mutation operator(RMO) is presented to enhance the previous differential evolution(DE) algorithms to solve DOPs using control vector parameterization. In the RMO, better individuals have higher probabilities to produce offspring, which is helpful for the performance enhancement of DE algorithms. Three DE-RMO algorithms are designed by incorporating the RMO. The three DE-RMO algorithms and their three original DE algorithms are applied to solve four constrained DOPs from the literature. Our simulation results indicate that DE-RMO algorithms exhibit better performance than previous non-ranking DE algorithms and other four evolutionary algorithms.

H ∞ consensus is investigated for multi-agent systems with linear dynamics and impulsive effects in this paper. First of all, by considering the effects of distributed impulses, the model of linear multi-agent systems with impulsive effects and external disturbances has been obtained. Then, in view of the average impulsive interval and the Lyapunov stability theory, an algorithm has been given to solve the H ∞ impulsive consensus for the linear multi-agent system under consideration. The theoretical results are verified by an example in the final.

In geometrically frustrated materials with low-dimensional and small spin moment, the quantum fluctuation can interfere with the complicated interplay of the spin, electron, lattice, and orbital interactions, and host exotic ground states such as the nematic spin state and chiral liquid phase. While the quantum phases of the one-dimensional chain and S=12 two-dimensional triangular-lattice antiferromagnet (TLAF) have been more thoroughly investigated by both theorists and experimentalists, the work on the S=1 TLAF has been limited. We induced the lattice distortion into the TLAFs A3NiNb2O9 (A=Ba, Sr, and Ca) with S(Ni2+)=1, and applied thermodynamic, magnetic, and neutron scattering measurements. Although A3NiNb2O9 kept the noncollinear 120∘ antiferromagnetic phase as the ground state, the Ni2+ lattice changed from an equilateral triangle (A=Ba) into an isosceles triangle (A=Sr and Ca). The inelastic neutron scattering data were simulated by the linear spin-wave theory, and the competition between the single-ion anisotropy and the exchange anisotropy from the distorted lattice are discussed.

The variable-speed, variable-pitch speed wind turbines are widely used in the wind-energy system. However, the fluctuation of power generation is serious because of the erratic speed of wind and the nonlinearity of the energy conversion systems (ECS). How to keep the ECS work well during the whole operating region is a challenge issue. In this paper, a multiple model predictive control (MMPC) using the state estimation is present to solve this issue. The whole operating region is divided into several sub-regions according to the wind's speed, in which several linear models and corresponding MPCs are constructed. The state variables of each local model are estimated by using the Kalman filter. A new switching criterion without perturbation is present to keep the MMPC works well at the different operating region switching. Considering the operating constraints, a quadratic programming procedure is used to calculate the optimal value of MMPC. Comparing the conventional PI controller, the proposed control achieves a good performance and reduces the fluctuation of power generation. Simulation results show the excellent performance of the present method.
