In robotic-assisted surgery(RAS),traditional surgical instruments without sensing capability cannot perceive accurate operational forces during the task,and such drawbacks can be largely intensified when sophisticated tasks involving flexible and slender arms with small end-effectors,such as in gastrointestinal endoscopic surgery(GES).In this study,we propose a microelectromechanical system(MEMS)piezoresistive 3-axial tactile sensor for GES forceps,which can intuitively provide surgeons with online force feedback during robotic *** MEMS fabrication process facilitates sensor chips with miniaturized *** fully encapsulated tactile sensors can be effortlessly integrated into miniature GES forceps,which feature a slender diameter of just 3.5 mm and undergo meticulous calibration procedures via the least squares *** experiments,the sensor's ability to accurately measure directional forces up to 1.2 N in the Z axis was validated,demonstrating an average relative error of only 1.18%compared with the full-scale *** results indicate that this tactile sensor can provide effective 3-axial force sensing during surgical operations,such as grasping and pulling,and in ex vivo testing with a porcine *** compact size,high precision,and integrability of the sensor establish solid foundations for clinical application in the operating theater.

This paper describes a visual localization and map construction method based on ground texture. The ground texture is scanned twice in a zigzag pattern and divided into a grid to avoid distortion of the stitched image. A global optimization method is used to calculate the image pose by reprojection constraint and key frame selection to stitch the global map. For positioning, the global positioning is transformed into a local positioning process through global search and local optimization, which improves the speed and accuracy of positioning. For map updating, local optimization is performed by constructing loopbacks for possible stain occlusion or breakage problems to solve tracking loss and repositioning problems. Experimental results show that the ground texture stitching and localization results after global optimization match well with the true values, and the global maps constructed by stitching are aligned with the true physical locations. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2023.

The underwater detection imaging technology mainly includes sonar imaging and underwater optical imaging. In order to overcome the disadvantages of low resolution of sonar imaging and short detection range of traditional optical imaging, optical gating technology is applied to underwater fishing net detection. This technology has higher resolution compared to sonar imaging, and its detection range has also been shown to be three times larger than that of conventional optical imaging. However, underwater range gating imaging can suffer from large random noise and low signal-to-noise ratio. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a convolutional sparse coding denoising neural network based on deep learning to improve image quality. This network consists of a local residual channel and a global convolutional sparse coding channel. Compared with DnCNN, ECNDNet and other methods, the average Peak signal-to-noise ratio of the proposed method is improved by 1.572.11dB, which can effectively remove random noise and reconstruct clear underwater fishing net range-gated images. © 2023 IEEE.

Single phase 0.76(Bi_(0.5)Na_(0.5))TiO_(3)–0.24SrTiO_(3) ferroelectric ceramics have been synthesized with homogenous anatase and hierarchical rutile TiO_(2) raw reactants(BNST-A and BNST-R).Either calcined powder persists the microstructure characteristics of raw *** the result,when the sintering temperature increases from 1000 to 1200℃,the average grain size and density of BNST-A increase from 0.49 to 1.48μm and 5.02 to 5.61 g/cm^(3),while those of BNST-R from 0.86 to 1.44μm and 5.37 to 5.61 g/cm^(3).BNST-A illustrates a predominant ergodic relaxor state,and BNST-R prefers a non-ergodic relaxor state,as evidenced by the distinct polarization-electric field loops and current-electric field ***,such a distinct ferroelectric state is independent of sintering *** is believed that the special hierarchical microstructure of rutile TiO_(2) reactant is beneficial to form denser ceramics with larger grains,and thus suppresses the contributions of polar nanoregions and defect-induced built-in field to ferroelectric property,leading to non-ergodic relaxor *** work clearly demonstrates the nonnegligible effects of TiO_(2) reactants on the microstructure and properties of BNST ferroelectric ceramics.

A novel efficient Cu_(2)WS_(4)/MoS_(2) step-scheme(S-scheme)heterojunction photocatalyst was constructed for the first time and applied in the removal of environmental *** the as-prepared photocatalysts,the Cu_(2)WS_(4)/MoS_(2)-8%heterojunc tion photoc atalyst demonstrates the optimal photocatalytic performance,with the catalytic oxidation efficiency of tetracycline(TC)and the catalytic reduction efficiency of Cr^(6+)reaching 93.3%and 82.1%,*** excellent catalytic properties of Cu_(2)WS_(4)/MoS_(2) heterojunction photocatalysts are attributed to the effective separation pathways of charges and the presence of S-scheme heterojunctions,together with stronger redox *** is speculated that the photogenerated carrier migration path of the Cu_(2)WS_(4)/MoS_(2) catalyst follows the typical S-scheme photocatalytic mechanism,which is verified by the in-depth experimental study and simulated calculations including the electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)analysis,free radical quenching experiments,charge density distribution,and simulated built-in electric field formation at the interface,which acts as driving force to promote the separation of photoinduced electrons and ***,the photocatalytic mechanism of S-scheme photogenerated carrier migration for the Cu_(2)WS_(4)/MoS_(2) catalyst is revealed based on the systematic experimental techniques and simulated calculations,accounting for its superior photocatalytic oxidation and reduction *** study provides inspiring implications to develop high-efficient S-scheme photocatalytic systems for versatile applications in solarenergy conversion.

To improve the thermoelectric converting performance in applications such as power generation,reutilization of heat energy,refrigeration,and ultrasensitive sensors in scramjet engines,a thermoelectric film/substrate system is widely designed and applied,whose interfacial behavior dominates the strength and service life of thermoelectric ***,a theoretical model of a thermoelectric film bonded to a graded substrate is *** interfacial shear stress,the normal stress in the thermoelectric film,and the stress intensity factors affected by various material and geometric parameters are comprehensively *** is found that adjusting the inhomogeneity parameter of the graded substrate,thermal conductivity,and current density of the thermoelectric film can reduce the risk of interfacial failure of the thermoelectric film/graded substrate *** a stiffer and thicker thermoelectric film is advantageous to the reliability of the thermoelectric film/graded substrate *** results should be of great guiding significance for the present and upcoming applications of thermoelectric materials in various fields.

Marine heatwaves(MHWs)are extreme ocean events characterized by anomalously warm upper-ocean temperatures,posing significant threats to marine *** various factors driving MHWs have been extensively studied,the role of ocean salinity remains poorly *** study investigates the influence of salinity on the major 2013-2014 MHW event in the Northeast Pacific using reanalysis data and climate model *** results show that salinity variabilities are crucial for the development of the MHW ***,a significant negative correlation exists between sea surface temperature anomalies(SSTAs)and sea surface salinity anomalies(SSSAs)during the MHW,with the SSSAs emerging simultaneously with SSTAs in the same *** salinity anomalies(SAs)result in a shallower mixed layer,which suppresses vertical mixing and thus sustains the upper-ocean ***,salinity has a greater impact on mixed layer depth anomalies than *** sensitivity experiments further demonstrate that negative SAs during MHWs amplify positive SSTAs by enhancing upper-ocean stratification,intensifying the ***,our analysis indicates that the SAs are predominantly driven by local freshwater flux anomalies,which are mainly induced by positive precipitation anomalies during the MHW event.
