The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of using electrocardiogram (ECG) signals to predict ejection fraction (EF) in an extremely imbalanced dataset. We collected ECG signals from 9365 patients and conducted a correlation analysis with EF. After collecting and preprocessing the ECG signal, we developed a deep learning-based multi-task learning model designed to extract features from ECG signals and perform predictions. Our study employed a model based on Transformer, multi-scale convolutional neural networks (CNN), channel attention, and pre-trained ResNet to predict EF (EF > 50 or EF ≤ 50) and EF value. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model exhibits excellent predictive performance, with an AUC of 0.825 and MAE of 4.855 for predicting EF. It outperforms other models and shows better results in comparison. Our study validates the feasibility and effectiveness of using ECG signals to predict EF and provides strong support for early diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Synthetic Instance Segmentation from Semantic Image Segmentation Masks

In recent years, instance segmentation has garnered significant attention across various applications. However, training a fully-supervised instance segmentation model requires costly both instance-level and pixel-level annotations. In contrast, weakly-supervised instance segmentation methods, such as those using image-level class labels or point labels, often struggle to satisfy the accuracy and recall requirements of practical scenarios. In this paper, we propose a novel paradigm called Synthetic Instance Segmentation (SISeg). SISeg achieves instance segmentation results by leveraging image masks generated by existing semantic segmentation models, and it is highly efficient as we do not require additional training for semantic segmentation or the use of instance-level image annotations. In other words, the proposed model does not need extra manpower or higher computational expenses. Specifically, we first obtain a semantic segmentation mask of the input image via an existent semantic segmentation model. Then, we calculate a displacement field vector for each pixel based on the segmentation mask, which can indicate representations belonging to the same class but different instances, i.e., obtaining the instance-level object information. Finally, the instance segmentation results are refined by a learnable category-agnostic object boundary branch. Extensive experimental results on two challenging datasets highlight the effectiveness of SISeg in achieving competitive results when compared to state-of-the-art methods, especially fully-supervised methods. Relying on the characteristics of decentralized, tamper-proof, and traceable, blockchain technology has begun to be widely used in permission management. It can be used for access control by using smart contracts to distribute tokens. But also because of the immutability of the blockchain, it cannot dynamically revoke permission. This paper proposed an on-chain user permission management mechanism that could support automatic and active permission revocation. This model proposed an extended CP-ABE chain user permission management model, which realized the permission grant based on user attributes by smart contracts. Furthermore, on this basis, an extended CP-ABE permission revocation mechanism was proposed. The timestamp technology was used to realize the automatic revocation of permission, and the subset coverage algorithm was used to realize the active revocation of permission. A blockchain-based permission distribution model was built, and the permission revocation scheme was introduced into it to conduct experiments. Its performance was tested and analyzed. The experimental results showed that when the number of permission distributions is 1000, the delay is about 5 s. At the same time, the permission change is above 130TPS, which met actual application requirements. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Channel State information (CSI) serves as a critical indicator of wireless signal conditions and is widely regarded by researchers for its sensitivity in detecting changes within the channel. However, traditional sensing technologies often require substantial data and intricate learning algorithms, highlighting an urgent need for advancements in lightweight sensing technologies. These technologies should leverage simpler terminal devices, reduced data volumes, and more straightforward classification algorithms to achieve sensing capability that are comparable to those offered by more complex and established methods. This paper concentrates on the lightweight application of wireless sensing and encompasses the following key contributions: 1) The development of a lightweight sensing model utilizing a single-antenna multicarrier system, which introduces a CSI ratio model that adapts multi-antenna techniques for single-antenna settings;2) The enhancement of feature stability through the introduction of a complex-plane fitting method using artificial vector, alongside a dual receiver based method for cross-scene feature generation aimed at producing stable and high-quality auxiliary features. Experimental results show that the feature extraction capability of the single-antenna multicarrier CSI ratio model is close to that of traditional multi-antenna scheme. On the gait dataset, when the enhanced CSI ratio is used as a feature, the accuracy is nearly 100%, surpassing the 93% accuracy of the original amplitude feature. On the gesture dataset, the combination of the enhanced CSI ratio and PEI features achieves an accuracy of 96%, which is superior to using the original CSI amplitude feature alone. An analysis of resource consumption shows that the lightweight SVM model incurs very low computational overhead during decision-making, validating the potential of this scheme in terms of efficiency and practical application. © 2014 IEEE.

In this work, a compact wideband circularly-polarized (CP) metasurface (MS) antenna is proposed, which is composed by one novel 4×4 cross-layer polarization dependent metasurface (PDMS) structure and a slanted coupling slot fed through the microstrip line. The cross-layer PDMS structure is constructed by loading several lower-patches along one dimension of the conventional square upper-MS structure. Besides, these lower-patches are located below the gaps of upper square patches directly. Distinct with conventional square MS structure, the proposed cross-layer PDMS structure can exhibit different reflection features in two orthogonal dimensions. Besides, these lower-patches also can provide a large cross-layer capacitive loading to miniaturize the size of MS. By properly tailoring the phase difference of the PDMS structure between the two orthogonal dimensions and combining with a slanted coupling slot, the PDMS structure can be used as a radiator to realize circular- polarization states. Accordingly, a circularly-polarized MS antenna based on the proposed PDMS structure is designed, exhibiting a large 3-dB axial ratio (AR) of 25.5% (6.6~8.53GHz), a large -10dB impedance bandwidth of 42.02% (5.62~8.61GHz) within a much compact aperture size (0.4?0×0.4?0). © 2021 IEEE.

In the process of image processing, the higher the resolution of the image, the richer the data information contained in the image. Aiming at the problem of low image resolution, through the research of generating countermeasure network, the condition generating countermeasure network is used to solve this problem. We use a symmetric convolutional neural network as the generator network, each of which has 6 layers. At the same time, by entering the labels into the discriminator, the connection between the original image and the model-generated image can be derived. In the loss function during the experiment, perceptual loss and mean square error are added, and good results are obtained in the actual experiment, and the visual effect of the generated image is more ideal. Compared with other algorithms, the proposed algorithm achieves the visual effect of SRGAN, and the effect on some pictures has been greatly improved. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.

Massive open online courses (MOOCs) play a crucial role in modern education by providing users with largescale open online learning platforms. Substantial research has been conducted to reduce user learning blindness and improve user experience, particularly in personalized course recommendations based on graph neural networks. However, these efforts have focused primarily on fixed or homogeneous graphs, are vulnerable to data sparsity problems, and are difficult to scale. This study proposes to overcome this limitation using graph convolution on local subgraphs combined with an extended matrix factorization model. First, the proposed method decomposes the heterogeneous graph into multiple meta-path-based subgraphs and combines random wandering sampling methods to capture complex semantic relationships between entities while sampling nodes' influence-rich neighborhoods. Next, the attention mechanism adaptively fuses the contextual information of different subgraphs for a more comprehensive construction of user preferences. Experiments on publicly available MOOCs datasets reveal that the proposed model outperforms other benchmark models and is highly scalable while alleviating the data sparsity problem.

Multi-label learning has attracted significant attention from both academic and industry field in recent decades. Although existing multi-label learning algorithms achieved good performance in various tasks, they implicitly assume the size of target label space is not huge, which can be restrictive for real-world scenarios. Moreover, it is infeasible to directly adapt them to extremely large label space because of the compute and memory overhead. Therefore, eXtreme Multi-label Learning (XML) is becoming an important task and many effective approaches are proposed. To fully understand XML, we conduct a survey study in this paper. We first clarify a formal definition for XML from the perspective of supervised learning. Then, based on different model architectures and challenges of the problem, we provide a thorough discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of each category of methods. For the benefit of conducting empirical studies, we collect abundant resources regarding XML, including code implementations, and useful tools. Lastly, we propose possible research directions in XML, such as new evaluation metrics, the tail label problem, and weakly supervised XML. © 2022, CC BY.
