Experience report:investigating bug fixes in machine learning frameworks/libraries

Machine learning(ML)techniques and algorithms have been successfully and widely used in various areas including software engineering *** other software projects,bugs are also common in ML projects and *** order to more deeply understand the features related to bug fixing in ML projects,we conduct an empirical study with 939 bugs from five ML projects by manually examining the bug categories,fixing patterns,fixing scale,fixing duration,and types of *** results show that(1)there are commonly seven types of bugs in ML programs;(2)twelve fixing patterns are typically used to fix the bugs in ML programs;(3)68.80%of the patches belong to micro-scale-fix and small-scale-fix;(4)66.77%of the bugs in ML programs can be fixed within one month;(5)45.90%of the bug fixes belong to corrective activity from the perspective of software ***,we perform a questionnaire survey and send them to developers or users of ML projects to validate the results in our empirical *** results of our empirical study are basically consistent with the feedback from *** findings from the empirical study provide useful guidance and insights for developers and users to effectively detect and fix bugs in MLprojects.

Research Purpose: The distributed, traceable and security of blockchain technology are applicable to the construction of new government information resource models, which could eliminate the barn effect and trust in government information sharing, as well as promoting the transformation of government affairs from management to service, it is also of great significance to the sharing of government information and construction of service-oriented e-government. Propose Methods: By analyzing the current problems of government information sharing, combined with literature research, this paper proposes the theoretical framework and advantages of blockchain technology applied to government information management and sharing, expounds the blockchain-based solution, it also constructs a government information sharing model based on blockchain, and gives implementation strategies at the technical and management levels. Results and Conclusion: The government information sharing model based on the blockchain solution and the transparency of government information can be used as a research framework for information interaction analysis between the government and users. It can also promote the construction and development of information sharing for Chinese government, as well as providing unified information sharing solution at the departmental and regional levels for e-government.

As an important resource for machine translation and cross-language information retrieval, collecting large-scale parallel corpus has been paid wide attention. With the development of the Internet, researchers begin to mine the parallel corpora from the multilingual websites. They use some prior knowledge like ad hoc heuristics or calculate the similarity of the webpages structure and content to find the bilingual webpages. This paper presents a method that uses the search engine and little prior knowledge about the URL patterns to get the bilingual websites from the Internet. The method is fast for its low time cost and there is no need for large-scale computation on URL pattern matching. We have collected 88 915 candidate parallel Chinese-English webpages, which average accuracy is around 90.8%. During the evaluation, the true bilingual websites that we found have high similar html structure and good quality translations. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

The multiplex network has attracted wide attention because it can better describe the various relationships in the real world, and the duplex network is a special two-layer form of it. The purpose of this research focuses on introducing new entropy-based measures for multiplex network, especially duplex network. The new measure called Interactive entropy in duplex network (IE) is based on information entropy, a key concept of information theory. In recent years, data center network is used for transmission, storage and processing of big data, which plays an important role for applications in cloud computing and CDN distribution. Network topology and routing algorithm are its core research content and key technical issues. The traditional network topology is difficult to guarantee the quality of service in scalability and fault tolerance. The server-centric data center network topology can ensure the scale of the data center network by recursively increasing the number of network nodes and links. relative to the Dcell, BCube, and BCCC typical network topology, PTNet network as a typical representative of a new type of the server-centric data center network topology, which has more advantages in scalability, fault tolerance and so on. Multicast and broadcast in data center network have more application scenarios and use value. For example, the video conference online, multimedia remote education and other development are inseparable from the application and promotion of network multicast and broadcast. So it is necessary to research the routing algorithms of multicast and broadcast in the network. Rankings never really quantify contributions: A quantitative and qualitative study on universities and their libraries

By comparing quantitative ranking with qualitative contributions, we reveal that academic assessment has to put real contributions ahead of quantitative indicators and that rankings have nothing to do with universities’ and their libraries’ true values. The greatness of a university lies in its impacts on the progress for human knowledge and the promotion for social development. Although ranking of universities by way of quantitative indicators can reflect some information, we should pay more attention to qualitative contributions.

Temporal information is pervasive and crucial in medical records and other clinical text,as it formulates the development process of medical conditions and is vital for clinical decision ***,providing a holistic knowledge representation and reasoning framework for various time expressions in the clinical text is *** order to capture complex temporal semantics in clinical text,we propose a novel Clinical Time Ontology(CTO)as an extension from OWL *** specifically,we identified eight timerelated problems in clinical text and created 11 core temporal classes to conceptualize the fuzzy time,cyclic time,irregular time,negations and other complex aspects of clinical ***,we extended Allen’s and TEO’s temporal relations and defined the relation concept description between complex and simple ***,we provided a formulaic and graphical presentation of complex time and complex time *** carried out empirical study on the expressiveness and usability of CTO using real-world healthcare ***,experiment results demonstrate that CTO could faithfully represent and reason over 93%of the temporal expressions,and it can cover a wider range of time-related classes in clinical domain.

Deep learning methods have shown significant performance in medical image analysis tasks. However, they generally act like 'black box' without explanations in both feature extraction and decision processes, leading to lack of clinical insights and high risk assessments. To aid deep learning in envisioning diseases with visual clues, we propose Representation Group-Disentangling Network (RGD-Net), which can completely disentangle feature space of input X-ray images into several independent feature groups, each corresponding to a specific disease. Taking several semantically related and labeled X-ray images as input, RGD-Net firstly extracts completely group-disentangled representations of diseases through Group-Disentangle Module, which applies group-swap and linking operations to construct latent space by enforcing semantic consistency of attributes. To prevent learning degenerate representations defined as shortcut problem, we further introduce adversarial constricts on mapping from features to diseases, thus avoiding model collapse with former free-form disentanglement. Experiments on chestxray-14 and ChestXpert datasets demonstrate that RGD-Net are effective in predicting diseases with remarkable advantages, which leverage potential factors contributing to different diseases, thus enhancing interpretability in working patterns of deep learning methods. © 2022 IEEE.

The construction of CMSW system (which is short for the condition monitoring and safety warning system) of bridges contributes to finding and fixing safety problems of bridges in time. Building a mature CMSW system is of great economic and social benefits. Small working scope, scattered system and difficult later-stage maintenance are common problems for current CMSW systems. Aiming at these difficulties, this paper proposes a series of technical solutions. The girder deviation, stress of key parts, concrete crack, structural deformation, cable force and icing condition on bridge deck are main fields in the system. Applying prepositive A/D converter, simplifying the data acquisition system with existed transmission network of road system and enhancing the importance of discontinuous monitoring and qualitative analysis make it possible to solve above problems. Machine reading comprehension has been a research focus in natural language processing and intelligence ***,there is a lack of models and datasets for the MRC tasks in the anti-terrorism ***,current research lacks the ability to embed accurate background knowledge and provide precise *** address these two problems,this paper first builds a text corpus and testbed that focuses on the anti-terrorism domain in a semi-automatic ***,it proposes a knowledge-based machine reading comprehension model that fuses domain-related triples from a large-scale encyclopedic knowledge base to enhance the semantics of the *** eliminate knowledge noise that could lead to semantic deviation,this paper uses a mixed mutual ttention mechanism among questions,passages,and knowledge triples to select the most relevant triples before embedding their semantics into the *** results indicate that the proposed approach can achieve a 70.70%EM value and an 87.91%F1 score,with a 4.23%and 3.35%improvement over existing methods,respectively.
