This paper presents a novel dense disparity estimation method using phase matching and color segmentation. In the proposed method, the initial disparity map is firstly obtained by an improved phase-based stereo matching solution. The solution effectively restrains two tough problems of phase singularities and phase wrap, in a coarse-to-fine approach, by using Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DT CWT) to extract the phase of the stereo images. The initial disparity is then refined by color segmentation and disparity plane fitting. Segmentation-based methods have an advantage of well representation of disparities on discontinuous region. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is superior in generating disparity maps with high accuracy and clean edges.

This paper presents a new scheme for optimal packetization of scalable multimedia data over lossy network. By assigning an unequal amount of forward error correction (FEC) bits to each segment of transmission packets, the proposed algorithm protects a progressive bitstream generated by a three-dimensional set partitioning in hierarchical trees (3-D SPIHT) algorithm. The partical swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to reasonably allocate bits between source coding and channel coding across packets. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides close to optimal average peak signal-to-noise ratio performance and that its' running time is significantly lower than that of previously known solution.

In orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) uplink system, estimations of time delay and carrier frequency offset (CFO) are both particularly challenging. In this paper, a coarse CFO and time delay estimation method is proposed for interleaved OFDMA uplink system. By exploiting the special scheme of interleaved OFDMA, the repetitive time-domain training symbol is designed, and the training sequences for different users have good autocorrelation and cross-correlation properties. Furthermore, the time delay and CFO estimation metrics are presented by making certain correlation between the received training symbol and the local sequence. Through searching peak of the proposed metrics, integral CFO of many subcarriers spaces for each user can be estimated, and then timing delay for each user can be found. Simulations illustrate the proposed estimation scheme can get good performance under multipath channel.

In this paper, a novel error concealment (EC) method for compressed stereoscopic image pairs is presented, which contains a new binocular EC mode and an improved monocular EC mode. The proposed algorithm selects appropriate EC mode to conceal the error block (EB) in the stereoscopic image according to the local characteristic of the EB. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme has good subjective and objective EC performance in stereoscopic images as compared to monocular mode.
