The pantograph contact strip is a sliding current collecting component used in electric locomotive. Its performance is an important factor restricting the development of electrified railways toward high speed. This paper makes an introduction of the new developing composite material strips, points out the advantages and disadvantages of various materials, their limiting factors during using or bottlenecks in R&D and production, and gives prospect to the future development of pantograph contact strip materials in the end.

Ni/Al2O3 composite was prepared by powder injection molding, the effects of Ni content and different sintering process on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Ni / Al2O3 composites were studied. The results show that when the Ni content is 10%, the comprehensive performance of Ni / Al2O3 composite is better. The optimum vacuum sintering process of 10%Ni / Al2O3 composite is as follows: sintering temperature of 1500 °C for 1 hour, with the relative density of 96.7%, bending strength of 312 MPa, Vickers hardness of 1528HV and fracture toughness of 5.3 MPa•m1/2.

Based on the current status of the development of the crib on the market, we focus on the man-machine relations as the entry point, study and analyze the existing disadvantages and problems of the crib. The design of the dual purpose crib can not only be used as the normal crib, but also can be used when the babies grow up. With the improvement of people’s living standards and economic level, people think more about the pursuit of the material quality now, at the same time, they also slowly begin to pay more attention to the ecological environment protection and the importance of reducing energy consumption. Children’s bed is an infant from birth possessions, and people become more and more highly for the requirement of itssafety and comfort. However, most of the Children’s beds currently on the market are still focused on the design of the appearance design, without considering the problem whether it can be used after the babies grow up. And how to make the invisible waste to become resources is more and more important. Moreover, in the current promotion of "green design" situation, we should understand the importance of conserving resources. So for the sharp increase in children’s bed needs, we will design a children’s bed that has the basic functions, but also design features into the sofa, to meet the needs of different periods, and reduce the unnecessary waste of resources. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

A robot simulator integrating robot assembly, program design and animation simulation is developed and its physical simulation method is mainly studied. To simulate the real world and robotic behavior, architecture of physical animation simulation is built and multi-body dynamics theory including unilateral constraints is applied to physical interaction. A complementarity-based method is proposed to model unilateral constraints, and this method can deal with dependent contacts and coulomb friction as well as non-elastic impulse. In order to solve the multi-body dynamics equations with unilateral constraints effectively, the mixed nonlinear complementary equations are converted into linear complementary equations by eliminating all of the equality constraints and linearizing friction law. Moreover, a direct correction algorithm is established to avoid drift phenomena. Finally, physical animation simulation is applied and gets a good effect.

For producing dense 3D reconstructed coordinates in a 360 ° view, comprehensive calibration of structured light measurement system is proposed to calibrate the camera, laser and turntable using planar chessboard. The camera captures images containing the chessboard placed on the turntable with laser stripe projecting onto it. Firstly, camera model is determined by using multiple views of chessboard positioned differently;secondly, laser plane is estimated with the 3D reconstructed coordinates of laser stripes viewed at various angles;finally, rotation axis is decided under the constraint of each circular motion trajectory of chessboard corners from different perspectives. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective for estimating the parameters of camera model, laser plane and rotation axis at a high accuracy. © (2015) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Compound motion of double-tamper mechanism causes an impact force on the frame of flatiron-box, which affects the quality of the load when the asphalt paver is running. Different from the previous simplified model, in this paper, the double-tamper mechanism with two parallel slider-cranks is considered. According to the analysis of the structure and principle of the mechanism, and considering the size and mass distribution of each component, the inertia force balance optimization for the double vibrating mechanism is calculated. According to the results of optimization, the vibration experiments were carried out on real screed. The experimental results show that, the harmful inertial force produced by the dual tamping mechanism has been significantly reduced, and the stability of vibration can be effectively improved when screed paving. The research could provide reliable theoretical method and basis for design, manufacturing and use of asphalt concrete paver. © Sun Jian;Licensee Bentham Open.

New ultrasonic-assisted brazing technology was adopted to weld mini butt joint by Sn Bi composite solder with 1.5wt% AlO content and 0.5mm, 0.8mm and 1mm three kinds of copper substrate distance. The mechanical properties of the mini butt joint were characterized by means of the micro hardness tester and home-made micro mechanical test system. The fracture morphology of the samples were respected by scanning electron microscope. The results showed that the ultrasonic-assisted brazing method could promote the expansion of liquid solder on the substrate, improve the wettability, and full of the weld. With the substrate spacing of 0.5mm, 0.8mm to 1mm gradually increased, the micro hardness, tensile strength and elongation increased along with it. A hard brittle IMC strip formed between the composite solder and the copper substrate, which made the boundary brazing seam hardness was more important than that of the middle. The fracture mechanism of Sn Bi-χAlO micro soldering joint is cleavage fracture, which shows the characteristics of brittle fracture.

The results showed that the ultrasonic-assisted brazing method could promote the expansion of liquid solder on the substrate, improve the wettability, and full of the weld. With the increase of the substrate distance, the alloy microstructure refined, the IMC zone at the interface gradually had a tendency to grow thin, and improved the reliability of the solder joint. Near the composite solder was IMC CuSn, and the copper substrate was IMC CuSn. Appropriate increase for the substrate distance will contribute to the micro hardness increase.
