Synergistic effect of Pd single atoms and clusters on the de/re-hydrogenation performance of MgH_(2)

Hydrogen storage plays a pivotal role in the hydrogen industry,yet its current status presents a *** strategies have emerged in recent years to address this ***_(2) has stood out as a promising solid-state hydrogen storage material due to its impressive gravimetric and volumetric hydrogen density,but its practical application is hampered by elevated thermal stability and sluggish *** this study,we introduce a solution by synthesizing Pd metallene through a one-pot solvothermal method,revealing a distinctive highly curved lamellar structure with a thickness of around 1.6 *** this Pd metallene into MgH_(2) results in a composite system wherein the starting dehydrogenation temperature is significantly lowered to 439 K and complete dehydrogenation occurs at 583 K,releasing 6.14 wt.%*** activation energy of dehydrogenation for MgH_(2) was reduced from 170.4 kJ mol^(-1) to 79.85 kJ mol^(-1) after Pd metallene *** enthalpy of dehydrogenation of the MgH_(2)-10 wt.%Pd sample was calculated to be 73 kJ mol^(-1) H_(2)^(-1) and decreased by 4.4 kJ mol^(-1) H_(2)^(-1) from that of dehydrogenation of pure MgH_(2)(77.4 kJ mol^(-1) H_(2)-1).Theoretical calculations show that the average formation energy and average adsorption energy of hydrogen vacancies can be significantly reduced in the presence of both Pd clusters and Pd single atoms on the surface of MgH_(2)/Mg,*** suggests that the synergistic effect of in situ formed Pd single atoms and clusters significantly improves the hydrogenation and dehydrogenation *** identified active sites in this study hold potential as references for forthcoming multi-sized active site catalysts,underscoring a significant advancement toward resolving hydrogen storage limitations.

In this paper, we introduce and experimentally demonstrate a fault detection method for the air conditioner in the EMU train, which usually generates abnormal sounds when the faults occur. The technique utilizes the Support Vector Machine (SVM) to recognize the time-frequency characteristics of the sound generated by the air conditioner, which is extracted using the short-time Fourier transform (STFT). In addition, a detection system is built for the experiment, in which an FPGA and an embedded system are employed for sound acquisition and acoustic signal process, respectively. The penalty factor of the SVM model is optimized and accuracy of 0.977 is achieved. Our method will improve the efficiency and accuracy of fault detection for the air conditioner in the EMU train. © 2024 IEEE.

Coriander(Coriandrum sativum L.)is recognized for its antioxidant property,as a kind of natural phenolic-rich *** aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)present a class of heat-driven hazards in foods,especially the processed *** this study,the effect of coriander root and leaf extract on the formation and inhibition of PAH8 in roasted duck wings was firstly *** root extract(CRE)and coriander leaf extract(CLE)with five concentration groups(200,400,600,800,1000 mg/L)were prepared respectively to marinate the duck *** marinade exhibited greater inhibitory effect on PAH8 formation in roasted duck wings that ranged from 65.0%-87.4%.The electron spin resonance study indicated a significantly positive correlation between PAH8 and free radical level,suggesting the participation of radicals in PAHs ***,it was speculated that the inhibitory effect on PAH8 was related to the phenolic compounds identified in coriander *** made greater inhibitory effect on the formation of PAH8 and could be considered as a kind of natural source to mitigate PAHs in heat-processed meat products.

This work investigated the changes in properties of saliva-participating emulsions during different oral processing stages(the whole process from intake to swallowing was divided into five stages,i.e.,20%,40%,60%,80%and 100%stage).The stewed pork with brown sauce was masticated and the emulsion was collected for the determination of emulsion stability,droplet size,ζ-potential,interfacial tension,and *** results showed that the emulsion stability increased gradually during the oral processing and reached the highest level near the swallowing *** droplet size of emulsion showed a significant downward trend(P<0.05).Microstructure observations also found different degrees of reduction in fat droplets size at different stages of oral *** addition,theζ-potential of food boluses emulsion was decreased from-16.4 mV to-41.2 mV and the interfacial tension decreased by 52.6%before and after oral *** conclusion,the oral processing of stewed pork with brown sauce was essentially a process in which fat was constantly emulsified,and saliva might act as an *** study provides new insights on understanding the oral processing process and sensory changes of fat.

A review of water-based suppressants for coal dust suppression

The large amount of harmful particles in coal dust not only pollutes the production environment, affects the production efficiency and resource utilization of enterprises, but also poses a risk to human health. Effectively controlling coal dust is of great significance to clean production. Water-based dust suppressants are extensively employed to mitigate coal dust. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the water-based dust suppression materials for coal dust control. According to the difference of mechanism, the dust suppressants are divided into wetting type, hygroscopic coalescence type, cohesive agglomeration type, and composite type. The evaluation methods for dust suppressants key properties such as wettability, permeability, moisture absorption and water retention, and consolidation are summarized. The review results show that coal dust suppressants are no longer limited to a single dust suppression function. For example, it is necessary to develop multi-functional coal suppressants to meet the needs for synergistic suppression both coal dust and coal spontaneous combustion. Driven by the concept of green, low-carbon and sustainable development, attention should be paid to the development of bio-based environmentally friendly coal dust suppressants. In addition, the evaluation method system for the key performance of water-based dust suppressants should also be improved, and further research is necessary. © The Author(s) 2025.

Higher-order polysulfides induced thermal runaway for 1.0 Ah lithium sulfur pouch cells

Comprehensive analyses on thermal runaway mechanisms are critically vital to achieve the safe lithium-sulfur(Li-S)*** reactions between dissolved higher-order polysulfides and Li metal were found to be the origins for the thermal runaway of 1.0 Ah cycled Li-S pouch cells.16-cycle pouch cell indicates high safety,heating from 30 to 300 ℃ without thermal runaway,while 16-cycle pouch cell with additional electrolyte undergoes severe thermal runaway at 147.9 ℃,demonstrating the key roles of the electrolyte on the thermal safety of *** the contrary,thermal runaway does not occur for 45-cycle pouch cell despite the addition of the *** is found that the higher-order polysulfides(Li_(2)S_(x) ≥ 6)are discovered in 16-cycle electrolyte while the sulfur species in 45-cycle electrolyte are Li_(2)S_(x) ≤ *** addition,strong exothermic reactions are discovered between cycled Li and dissolved higher-order polysulfide(Li_(2)S_(6) and Li_(2)S_(8))at 153.0 ℃,driving the thermal runaway of cycled Li-S pouch *** work uncovers the potential safety risks of Li-S batteries and negative roles of the polysulfide shuttle for Li-S batteries from the safety view.
