Conventional single-chip digital cameras use color filter arrays(CFA) to sample different spectral components. image demosaicing is a problem of interpolating these data to complete red, green, and blue values for each image pixel, to produce an RGB image. Many color demosaicing(CDM) methods assume that the high local spatial redundancy exists among the color samples. Such an assumption, however, may be fail for images with high color saturation and sharp color transitions. This paper presents an adaptive demosaicing algorithm by exploiting both the non-local similarity and the local correlation(NLS-LC) in the color filter array image. First, the most flattest nonlocal image patches are searched in the searching window centered on the estimated pixel. Second, the patch, which is the most similar to the current patch, is selected among the most smoothest nonlocal patches. Third, according to the similar degree and the local correlation degree, the obtained nonlocal image patch and the current patch are adaptively chosen to estimate the missing color samples. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method exhibits superior performance over many state-of-the-art color interpolation methods.

It is very important to find a criterion when to perform a resampling step. Aimed at this problem, an adaptive resampling algorithm in particle filter based on diversity measures is presented. Based on the analysis and comparison of two diversity measures that are effective sample size (ESS) and population diversity factor(PDF), the resampling algorithm based on ESS is introduced. On the basis of that, PDF is used for adaptively tuning the resampling threshold. At last, with the simulation program using matlab 7.0 to track a single target motion from a fixed visual observation points, the performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated and its validity is verified. ©2010 IEEE.

Compressive sensing (CS) is a new technique for data sampling and compression simultaneously. In this paper, we propose a novel distributed video coding algorithm with dynamic measurement rate allocation based on compressive sensing principles, where almost all computation burdens can be shifted to the decoder, resulting in a very low-complexity encoder. So the proposed algorithm can be useful in those video applications that require very low complex encoders. At the decoder, the compressed video can be efficiently reconstructed with adaptive dictionary learning. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the distributed compressive video sensing with non-adaptive learning local dictionary and global dictionary.

Single image super resolution (SR) aims to estimate high resolution (HR) image from the low resolution (LR) one, and estimating accuracy of HR image gradient is very important for edge directed image SR methods. In this paper, we propose a novel edge directed image SR method by learning simple priors by mapping functions. Recognizing that the training samples of the given sub-set for regression should have similar local geometric structure based on clustering, we employ high frequency of LR image patches with removing the mean value to perform such clustering. Then we learn effective mapping functions of gradient of bicubic image patches and that of HR image patches for each cluster. Experimental results suggest that the proposed method can achieve better gradient estimation of HR image and competitive SR quality compared with other SR methods. © 2016 ICIC International.

Estimating high-resolution (HR) video from a sequence of low-resolution (LR) compressed observations is the focus of this paper. Based on the theory of regularization, this paper proposes a new form of regularized cost function to control the within-channel balance between received data and prior information, and a channel weight coefficient to control the cross-channel fidelity. The LR frames are adaptively weighted according to their reliability and the regularization parameter is simultaneously estimated for each channel with ameliorating artifacts in compressed video. An iterative gradient descent algorithm is utilized to reconstruction the HR video. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has an improvement in terms of both objective and subjective quality

Facial expressions are considered a reliable indicator in neonatal pain *** paper proposes a new neonatal pain expression recognition method,which utilizes the feature descriptors based on weighted Local Binary Pattern(LBP)and the classifier based on sparse ***,the normalized facial image is described using a feature vector,which is histogram sequence obtained by concatenating the weighted histograms of the LBP maps of all the local ***,the Principal Component Analysis(PCA)method is used to reduce the dimension of the feature ***,the classifier based on sparse representation is applied to classify test sample into four classes of facial expressions:calm,crying,moderate pain,severe *** objective of this study is to assist the clinicians in assessing neonatal pain by utilizing computer-based image analysis *** experimental results on neonate facial image database show the effectiveness of the proposed *** classification accuracy is up to 85.50%.

A compressive sensing based mobile video communication system

A compressive sensing (CS) based mobile video communication system is proposed to meet the requirement that video service needs low-complexity video encoder in the mobile internet. In this system, the mobile client uses CS based video encoder having low computational complexity and power, and then its output bit-stream is decoded using CS recovery algorithm in the fixed base station or network server. The decoded video signal is transformed again as bits by the traditional H.264/MPEG video encoder, and the central base station transmits them to mobile clients so as to realizing low-complexity video decoding. The simulation experiments show that the proposed CS based mobile video communication system has the better rate-distortion performance, and can ensure high quality video reconstruction at low measurement rates. © 2013 IFSA.

This paper presents a joint parallel loop filtering algorithm based on multi-thread load balancing in HEVC decoding, which implements the parallel processing of deblocking filtering (DBF) and sample adaptive compensation (SAO). Because of the diversity of video, the texture of different regions in an image is also different, which leads to various CTU partition methods. Therefore, the number of the boundary to be filtered is greatly different, resulting the computation load among multiple threads unbalanced in parallel processing. To solve this problem, an area division scheme is proposed, which divides the image into multiple areas, and the number of boundaries to be filtered in each area is similar. Then, the mapping relationship table is used to allocate these areas to multiple threads for parallel processing, so as to achieve the load balancing among the filtering threads. Finally, the cache technology is used to combine DBF and SAO to reduce the delay between them and improve the overall parallelism of the loop filter. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed load balancing joint filtering algorithm is 8.15% higher than the previous scheme. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. Target tracking is currently a hot research topic in Computer Vision and has a wide range of use in many research fields. However, due to factors such as occlusion, fast motion, blur and scale variation, tracking method still needs to be deeply studied. In this paper, we propose a block target tracking method based on multi-convolutional layer features and Kernel correlation filter. Our method divides the tracking process into two parts: target position estimation and target scale estimation. First, we block the target frame based on the condition number. Second, we extract the features by the convolutional layer and apply it to the kernel correlation filter to get the center position of different block targets. With the reliability of different blocks measured by the Barker coefficient, the overall target position center is obtained. Then, the affine transformation is adopted to achieve the scale adaptation. The algorithm in this paper is evaluated by the public video sequences in OTB-2013. Numerous experimental results demonstrate that the proposed tracking method can achieve target scale adaptation and effectively improve the tracking accuracy. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing.
