Fiber metal laminate (FML) are widely used in aerospace and other fields because of their excellent mechanical properties, such as high specific strength, high specific stiffness. However, due to their relatively poor interlaminar properties, the further application of FML was limited. In the paper, a fiber metal laminate with embedded nail structure was designed, and the samples were prepared based on 3D printing technology. Through experimental research and finite element simulation, the mechanical properties of fiber metal laminate with nail structure under compressive load were analyzed. By reasonably setting the number and height of nail structure, the delamination damage could be restrained and the mechanical properties of members could be improved.

Performance improvement of 4H-SiC PIN ultraviolet avalanche photodiodes with different intrinsic layer thicknesses

Four 4H-SiCp-i-n ultraviolet(UV) avalanche photodiode(APD) samples PIN-0.1, PIN-0.35, PIN-0.5, and PIN-1.0 with different intrinsic layer thicknesses(0.1 μm, 0.35 μm, 0.5 μm, and 1.0 μm, respectively) are designed and *** photon detection efficiency(SPDE) performance becomes better as the intrinsic layer thickness increases, which is attributed to the inhibitation of *** count origin is also investigated, an activation energy as small as 0.22 eV of the dark count rate(DCR) confirms that the trap-assisted tunneling(TAT) process is the main source of *** temperature coefficient ranges from-2.6 mV/℃ to 18.3 mV/℃, demonstrating that the TAT process is dominant in APDs with thinner intrinsic ***, the room temperature maximum quantum efficiency at 280 nm differs from 48% to 65% for PIN-0.35, PIN-0.5, and PIN-1.0 under 0 V bias, and UV/visible rejection ratios higher than 104 are obtained.

Despite extensive research on magnetic skyrmions and antiskyrmions, a significant challenge remains in crafting nontrivial high-order skyrmionic textures with varying, or even tailor-made, topologies. We address this challenge, by focusing on a construction pathway of skyrmionic metamaterials within a monolayer thin film and suggest several skyrmionic metamaterials that are surprisingly stable, i.e., long-lived, due to a self-stabilization mechanism. This makes these new textures promising for applications. Central to our approach is the concept of’simulated controlled assembly’, in short, a protocol inspired by’click chemistry’ that allows for positioning topological magnetic structures where one likes, and then allowing for energy minimization to elucidate the stability. Utilizing high-throughput atomistic-spin-dynamic simulations alongside state-of-the-art AI-driven tools, we have isolated skyrmions (topological charge Q = 1), antiskyrmions (Q = −1), and skyrmionium (Q = 0). These entities serve as foundational’skyrmionic building blocks’ to form the here reported intricate textures. In this work, two key contributions are introduced to the field of skyrmionic systems. First, we present a a novel combination of atomistic spin dynamics simulations and controlled assembly protocols for the stabilization and investigation of new topological magnets. Doping in Si nanocrystals is an interesting topic and to directly study the dopants distribution in phosphorous/boron co-doping circumstance is one of the important issue nowadays. In this study, atom probe tomography is performed to study the structures and impurity distribution in phosphorous/boron co-doped Si nanocrystals/SiO2 multilayers. Comparing with phosphorous singly-doped Si nanocrystals, it is interesting to find the phosphorous concentration in co-doped samples are significantly improved. Theoretical simulation suggests that phosphorous-boron pairs can be formed in co-doped Si nanocrystals with the lowest formation energy, which also reduce the formation energy of phosphorous in Si nanocrystals. The results indicate co-doping can promote more phosphorous impurities enter into the near-surface and inner sites of Si nanocrystals, which provides an interesting way to regulate the electronic and optical properties of Si nanocrystals like the observed enhancement of conductivity and sub-band light emission. © 2023, The Authors. Evolution Analysis of Process-induced Residual Stress During the Manufacture of Diesel Body

Residual stress is most likely to cause deformation in a diesel body (DB). The traditional independent analysis method is no longer suitable for obtaining the residual stress of multi-process DBs, because the stress is constantly produced and changed during the casting, heat treatment, and cutting processes. Therefore, an evolution analysis method(EAM) is proposed. First, an evolution analysis model of a DB was established. Subsequently, the residual stress of the DB in the casting and heat treatment processes was analysed using ProCAST and ABAQUS. Finally, the material removal of the DB during the machining process was simulated by using ABAQUS. The residual stresses for every process were calculated by coupling inherited and process-induced stresses. Thus, the final stress distribution of the DB was deduced by considering the entire machining process. The evolution analysis of the residual stress is significant for controlling the deformation of the DB. © 2021, CC BY.

Controllable synthesis of functional carbon-based materials is being extensively pursued for performance improvements in advanced lithium-ion batteries, especially in the intrinsic factor of exposed crystal planes of the material itself. Herein, we have computed the (103) plane of CaMoO 4 possessing the least energy as the easiest plane for lithium ions migration by first-principle calculations. Therefore, we designed 3D CaMoO 4 persimmon/mesocarbon-microbead (MCMB) microcomposites with exposed (103) active planes via a facile microwave irradiation strategy, in favor of highly reversible Li + insertion/extraction. Meanwhile, the crystallographic variations and phase changes of the CaMoO 4 /MCMB composites have been investigated by in-situ X-ray diffraction and theoretical calculations to probe the lithium storage mechanism during charge-discharge cycling. In particular, the CaMoO 4 persimmon/MCMB anode with 20.16 wt% CaMoO 4 loading (Sample 2) exhibits a high initial specific capacity of 729.5 mAh g –1 , a reversible capacity of 399.9 mAh g –1 even after 80 cycles, and enhances dynamic property with a low apparent activation energy of 39.68 kJ mol –1 . The development of MCMB-based micro/nanostructures with exposed planes synthesized by the high-efficient innovative method has led to a promising candidate for high-power anodes in novel Li-ion batteries. © 2022, The Authors. Revealing thermally driven distortion of magnon dispersion by spin Seebeck effect in Gd3Fe5O12

We report a systematic study of the temperature and field dependences of the spin Seebeck effect (SSE) in a bilayer of Pt/Gd3Fe5O12. An anomalous structure is observed in the magnetic field dependent measurements at temperatures between ∼60 and ∼210 K. Unlike the ordinary SSE signal originating from the bare magnons, which changes sign at ∼95 and ∼266 K, the sign of the anomalies remains unchanged with increasing temperature. Moreover, the anomalies are found to show a temperature-sensitive double-peak structure between ∼116 and ∼143 K. We attribute these anomalies to the contribution from the quasiparticles hybridized between the Gd moment dominated spin wave (α mode) and the transversal acoustic phonon, known as the magnon polarons. Given that the magnon polaron induced anomalies occur at the field where the linear phonon dispersion is tangential to the magnon dispersion curve, we explain these rich phenomena by an increase of the group velocity of the α-mode magnon with increasing temperature and the nonparabolic magnon dispersion of Gd3Fe5O12. Our results demonstrate that the magnon polaron induced SSE is helpful for the investigation of the magnon dispersion evolution with a simple transport approach.

Recently,large and thin glass substrates are transported by air film conveyors to reduce surface *** the production line,the glass substrates are desired to be transported flatly on the conveyor to ensure the quality inspection.A method by feedbacking film pressure to the theoretical model is proposed for estimation of the deformation of the glass sheet,and the validity of the method is theoretically and experimentally ***,a theoretical model including the flow behavior through a porous-walled gap is established,and the film pressure distribution can be predicted by solving the ***,an experimental setup that can simultaneously measure the film pressure and the flatness of the glass sheet is established,and,the validity of the model is verified ***,with the pressure points at the grooves as the boundary and the pressure points at the flange area as the feedback,an algorithm is applied to shape the one-dimensional deformation at the centerlines in accordance with a quadratic ***,two-dimensional deformation of the glass sheet can then be estimated by an interpolation *** of the calculated results with the experimental data verify the effectiveness of the estimating method.

Improved Oil Resistance of Cellulose Packaging Paper by Coating with Natural Polymer Derived Materials

Paper is widely used as food packaging due to its good mechanical strength and degradability. However, it has a relatively strong affinity for water and oil, which limits its application scope. In this work, we prepare two types of coated paper to investigate, the influence the air permeability and polarity on the oil resistance of the coated paper. The results showed that reducing the air permeability improved the grease resistance of the coated paper. High surface energy coatings also showed better oil resistance because of their higher content of polar components that resulted in a higher resistance to grease. The mechanical properties of the paper also improved after applying the coating. These natural derived materials offer an alternative to the fluoride-containing materials currently used in the market to improve the wettability of paper. © 2021, CC BY.
