Emotion Recognition in Conversations (ERC) is a widely applicable task, whether in emotional chatbots or recommender systems for dialog scenarios. The ability of systems to accurately identify human emotions is a crucial component in ERC success. In everyday conversations, a speaker’s emotional expression is closely tied to their individual characteristics and personality traits. Furthermore, individuals exhibit significant variations in their expressions of the same emotion. Traditional methods for ERC often overlook these personality differences and dynamic changes, leading to unreliable results. To address this issue, we propose a conversation emotion recognition model based on dynamic modeling of speaker’s personality (ERC DMSP). In our approach, to extract a speaker’s personality profile, we design a personality capture module to model the personalities of individuals based on their historical utterances. Moreover, a bidirectional influence exists between a speaker’s personality tendencies and their linguistic behavior. The speaker’s personality profile is thus continually updated based on the ongoing dialog. Additionally, since the personalities of other speakers in the conversation can also affect the form and intensity of a speaker’s emotional expression, we construct a conversation emotion representation utilizing group personality traits. We then comprehensively incorporate the speaker’s personality into the emotion representation of each utterance at both the group and individual levels through the personality engagement module. Throughout this process, the representation of dialog and the speaker’s personality undergo hierarchical updates, leading to more accurate conversation emotion recognition. We conducted extensive experiments on four commonly used public benchmark datasets for ERC to evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed ERC DMSP model. Radiology report generation is an essential task in the medical field, which aims to automate the generation of medical terminology descriptions of radiology images. However, this task currently suffers from several problems: 1) existing methods need to manually build knowledge graphs or templates (consuming time and effort) to introduce medical or prior knowledge to assist in report generation; 2) previous models cannot handle the problem of data bias well (anomaly reports and anomaly descriptions make up only a tiny portion of the dataset), causing the models to ignore the learning of anomaly descriptions easily; 3) existing approaches cannot robustly supervise the model, resulting in incomplete and inconsistent reports being generated. To address these issues, we propose a cross-modal interactive memory network based on fine-grained medical feature extraction. In our model, we design a cross-modal interactive memory network to automatically store and remember the required medical text knowledge and use this medical knowledge to help generate reports. Furthermore, we design an abnormal medical knowledge enhancement module to enhance the learning of abnormal fine-grained knowledge through the interaction of disease topics and their states to interact with text features. In addition, we design a cross-modal joint semantic loss unit to reduce semantic differences between different features and improve the visual representation ability of the model. We experimented and evaluated our model on MIMIC-CXR and IU-Xray datasets to compare with other baseline models.

Personalized News Recommendation (PNR) can enhance user experience by alleviating information overload. Traditional news recommendation methods consider all clicking behaviors as user interests, resulting in biased user modeling that fails to accurately capture user interests. In addition, although there are methods to reduce the impact of low-quality news at the representation level by simply filtering it through the attention mechanism. However, this only implicitly models the news in the interaction sequence without specifically considering the quality of each news, and thus has very limited effect in identifying noise. To address these issues, this paper proposes News Recommendation method based on News Quality-aware modeling (NQNR). We attempt to explicitly model the news in the click sequence and candidate ranking one by one to visually assess the quality of each news. Specifically, we design a detection module to detect whether the input news is low-quality news. Then, by reducing the influence of low-quality news in user modeling and candidate ranking, user interests are modeled more accurately, while recommendations of such news are reduced for users. In addition, to capture the similarity of vectors more accurately, we also design a similarity computation method based on the multiple attention mechanism in the detection module. Experiments on a large real-world Microsoft News Dataset (MIND) show that our model significantly outperforms previous models. Our code is posted at the following URL: https://***/xxbbjj/NQNR-.

Throughout the process of machine unlearning, in order to fulfill the requirements of machine unlearning and to comply with the rules of the right to be forgotten, it is natural to verify whether the unlearning model actually removes data points. Therefore, machine unlearning verification plays a crucial role. However, existing validation methods only perform one validation, and it is still challenging to determine whether subsequent updates of the model still maintain the unlearning effect. To address this challenge, we propose a novel continuous verification of catastrophic recalling in machine unlearning framework that aims to continuously evaluate whether a machine learning model effectively forgets specified data after an update. In this work, we first introduce adversarial testing as a crucial part of the overall framework. Verification then continues as the unlearned model is updated (adding or continuing to forget data points). We also analyzed the possibility that learning new data after unlearning may diminish the effect. Overall, our continuous unlearning verification framework provides a proactive approach to protecting individual privacy in the machine learning domain, thus facilitating the generation of more robust unlearning algorithms.

With the development of display technology, people’s demand for high-definition video is increasing, and the requirements for video quality are also increasing. Nowadays, a large number of videos have emerged, and how to distinguish the quality of videos faces many challenges. Nowadays, deep learning is developing rapidly, and many video quality assessment (VQA) methods have emerged. These VQA methods can efficiently evaluate video quality and save a lot of manpower and material resources. To achieve the evaluation of UHD video quality, we propose an inter-frame downsampling UHD video quality assessment model (IFDU-VQA) based on deep learning. This model is a no-reference (NR) evaluation model that adopts a dual-branch structure: one branch uses a recursive network to deeply extract video inter-frame features, and combines inter-frame downsampling technology with a multi-information fusion (MIF) module to achieve different time and frequency information. Effective fusion; the other branch applies convolutional neural networks (CNN) to extract features from individual video frames. By fusing the outputs of the two branches, regression and pooling modules are used to calculate the final quality score of the video. Compared with multiple existing models, experimental results show that IFDU-VQA demonstrates superior performance on multiple standard data sets.

Infrared small object detection is an important computer vision task involving the recognition and localization of tiny objects in infrared images, which usually contain only a few pixels. However, it encounters difficulties due to the diminutive size of the objects and the generally complex backgrounds in infrared images. In this paper, we propose a deep learning method, HCF-Net, that significantly improves infrared small object detection performance through multiple practical modules. Specifically, it includes the parallelized patch-aware attention (PPA) module, dimension-aware selective integration (DASI) module, and multi-dilated channel refiner (MDCR) module. The PPA module uses a multi-branch feature extraction strategy to capture feature information at different scales and levels. The DASI module enables adaptive channel selection and fusion. The MDCR module captures spatial features of different receptive field ranges through multiple depth-separable convolutional layers. Extensive experimental results on the SIRST infrared single-frame image dataset show that the proposed HCF-Net performs well, surpassing other traditional and deep learning models. Gastric cancer is a serious health threat, and pathological imaging is important in detecting it. These images can assist doctors in accurately determining the location of the cancer, thereby providing an important reference for clinical decision-making. In the field of image processing, deep learning technology is leading to more and more excellent segmentation models. The Trans-Unet model has achieved success in the image segmentation. However, when applying this model to gastric cancer pathological section data, the segmentation boundary appears jagged. We propose three possible solutions. First, we designed an attention connection module to replace the skip connections in the model to enhance the prediction accuracy of the model. Second, we designed a prediction processing unit that takes the model’s prediction results as input and uses a Conditional Random Field (CRF) for further prediction calculations. To enable the model to meet the requirements of multi-classification of images, we designed a dynamic weight selection module to enhance the model’s accuracy for multi-classification tasks. After our optimization, the optimized model improved by 8% on the DSC evaluation index and 39% on the HD evaluation index. In addition, the jagged boundary problem in the prediction results has also been effectively improved. Through comparative experiments and erosion experiments, we found that the improved method enhances the accuracy of model prediction and reduces the jagged results at the boundary.

Rethinking Object Saliency Ranking: A Novel Whole-flow Processing Paradigm

Existing salient object detection methods are capable of predicting binary maps that highlight visually salient regions. However, these methods are limited in their ability to differentiate the relative importance of multiple objects and the relationships among them, which can lead to errors and reduced accuracy in downstream tasks that depend on the relative importance of multiple objects. To conquer, this paper proposes a new paradigm for saliency ranking, which aims to completely focus on ranking salient objects by their "importance order". While previous works have shown promising performance, they still face ill-posed problems. First, the saliency ranking ground truth (GT) orders generation methods are unreasonable since determining the correct ranking order is not well-defined, resulting in false alarms. Second, training a ranking model remains challenging because most saliency ranking methods follow the multi-task paradigm, leading to conflicts and trade-offs among different tasks. Third, existing regression-based saliency ranking methods are complex for saliency ranking models due to their reliance on instance mask-based saliency ranking orders. These methods require a significant amount of data to perform accurately and can be challenging to implement effectively. To solve these problems, this paper conducts an in-depth analysis of the causes and proposes a whole-flow processing paradigm of saliency ranking task from the perspective of "GT data generation", "network structure design" and "training protocol". The proposed approach outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods on the widely-used SALICON set, as demonstrated by extensive experiments with fair and reasonable comparisons. The saliency ranking task is still in its infancy, and our proposed unified framework can serve as a fundamental strategy to guide future work.
