CFERE: Multi-type Chinese financial event relation extraction

Extracting various types of event relations in financial texts can benefit many downstream applications supporting financial analysis. This paper addresses the multi-type event relation extraction problem in the finance domain focusing on handling several issues in existing studies, including specialIntscript limited event relation types involved, specialIntscript insufficient feasibility when handling non-annotated data, specialIntscript ineffectiveness in recognizing multi-type event relation , specialIntscript the asynchronous event , event relation extraction process. To tackle these limitations, we carefully define six types of event relations based on the characteristics of financial texts (e.g., abundant numerical words) and further devise an integral framework for Chinese financial event relation extraction. The framework is capable of handling unsupervised event extraction and event relation recognition jointly. Specifically, according to linguistic characteristics, a Core Verb Chain is employed for the event identification. Then, by constructing a Syntactic Semantic Dependency Parsing graph, scattered events are combined into pairs, and event ellipsis elements can be completed to prevent event information loss. Also, to capture more sentence semantics, we formulate an Event Restore module that converts the structured event pairs into event restore sentence pairs and pour the pairs into the BERT model for relation type identification. Finally, to enhance the embeddings for event core elements, an Event Core Embeddings layer is augmented in BERT, and we fine-tune the model on our annotated financial corpus. Extensive experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of our method, and the results confirm its superiority over the state-of-the-art baselines.

There are many real-world applications based on similarity between objects, such as clustering, similarity query processing, information retrieval and recommendation systems. SimRank is a promising measure of similarity based on random surfers model. However, the computational complexity of SimRank is high and several optimization techniques have been proposed. In the paper optimization issue of Sim-Rank computation in disk-resident graphs is our primary focus. First we suggest a new approach to compute *** we propose optimization techniques that improve the time cost of the new approach from O (kN2 D2) to O (kNL), where k is the number of iteration, N is the number of nodes, L is the number of edges, and D is the average degree of nodes. Meanwhile, a threshold sieving method is presented to reduce storage and computational cost. On this basis, an external algorithm computing SimRank in disk-resident graphs is introduced. In the experiments, our algorithm outperforms its opponent whose computation complexity also is O (kNL). © Springer-Verlag 2013.

Due to the rapid growth of social net services (SNSs), research into SNSs continuance usage has recently emerged as an important issue in information systems adaption. This study develops an integrated model based on the expectation-confirmation model (ECM), the technology acceptance model (TAM), and the theory of planned behavior (TPB), and apply them into the context of older adults' continuance intention toward SNSs. The hypothesized model is validated empirically using a sample collected from 250 older adults who had prior experience with SNSs and was tested against the proposed research model using structure equation modeling. Analysis results demonstrate that satisfaction has the most significant effect on older adults' continuance intention, followed by perceived usefulness, attitude, subject norm and perceived behavioral control. The results of these findings for SNSs practitioners are discussed at the end of this work. © 2014 IEEE.

We construct a Chinese Economic Event Treebank (CEETB), focusing on revealing economic and finance events and their relations. Investigating economic event relations will benefit academic research and practice in not just economics but many other scientific areas. The characteristics of economic-related texts (e.g., abundant longer enterprises names and terms) and the Chinese language speciality (e.g., component ellipsis in long sentences) have resulted in challenges in the event relation extraction task. Existing Chinese corpora containing economic event relations mainly focused on finance areas (e.g., the equity market) and only covered a few event types. To support research that may involve economic text analysis in Chinese, our CEETB is constructed following a carefully designed process. First, based on practical and research requirements, we summarize nine different types of event relations and four types of component ellipses in economic texts. Then, an excellent annotation scheme is presented to hyalinize the model, strategy, and process in annotation, followed by statistical analysis and quality evaluation for the CEETB corpus. Finally, to demonstrate the strengths of the constructed corpus in practical applications, we conduct experiments on five SOTA models for event relation extraction.

It is fundamental to compute the most "similar" k nodes w.r.t. a given query node in networks;it serves as primitive operator for tasks such as social recommendation, link prediction, and web searching. Existing approaches to this problem do not consider types of relationships (edges) between two nodes. However, in real networks there exist different kinds of relationships. These kinds of network are called multi-relational networks, in which, different relationships can be modeled by different graphs. From different perspectives, the relationships of the objects are reflected by these different graphs. Since the link-based similarity measure is determined by the structure of the corresponding graph, similarity scores among nodes of the same network are different w.r.t. different perspectives. In this paper, we propose a new type of query, perspective-aware top-k similarity query, to provide more insightful results for users. We efficiently obtain all top-k similar nodes to a given node simultaneously from all perspectives of the network. To accelerate the query processing, several optimization strategies are proposed. Our solutions are validated by performing extensive experiments.

In RFID application systems with multiple packaging layers, labeling packaging relationship of objects in different packaging layers by encoding methods is a important technology field. Prefix-based labeling scheme is a method by which the packaging relationship of objects amounts to testing whether one object is an prefix of the other, whereas the region numbering scheme is a method by which an ancestor query amount to an interval containment test on the labels. This paper first presents a mixed-encoding scheme based on Huffman algorithm, then propose a variant of this encoding scheme in which new "virtual nodes" are involved in order to improve the stability of encoding. Our experiments prove that the mixed-based encoding scheme is effective due to the enhancement of update performance and query efficiency. © 2011 IEEE.

Web financial reviews are real-time, comprehensive and authentic. The construction and quantification of Web financial indexes based on Web financial reviews is of great significance for the financial early warning for enterprises. Comparing with product reviews and news commentaries, in Web financial reviews, the opinion targets have more diverse compositions, the frequencies of opinion targets' occurrence vary greatly, and the sentiment words' have more diverse parts of speech. These characteristics make the extraction of opinion targets, the construction of Web financial indexes, and opinion targets-based sentimental analysis all more complicated, posing new challenges to natural language processing. Clustering XML search results is an effective way to improve performance. However, the key problem is how to measure similarity between XML documents. In this paper, we propose a semantic similarity measure method combining content with structure, in which a variety of XML document features, including term element frequency, term inverse element frequency, semantic weight of tag label and level information of the term, are analyzed and applied for computing the similarity between XML documents. In addition, two new performance evaluation methodology, namely Cluster Ratio Relevant and Docu Ratio Relevant, for clustering quality are introduced motivated by the observations of relevant documents distribution and the fact that collection has no classification information. Experiment results show that proposed similarity method(CAS measure)outperforms traditional document clustering(CO measure) in Cluster Ratio Relevant and Docu Ratio Relevant and produces better clustering quality. © 2011 IEEE.

Clustering XML search results is an effective way to improve performance. However, the key problem is how to measure similarity between XML documents. This paper studies XML search results clustering based on element granularity and proposes one similarity measurement method. The method firstly uses latent semantic indexing technology(LSI) to obtain term semantics and then combines the XML element node content and semantic structure properties(CASS). To evaluate clustering performance, two new performance evaluation methodologies, namely R-ClusterRatio and R-DocuRatio are introduced. It is motivated by the observations of relevant documents distribution and the fact that the experiment data collection, IEEE CS corpus, do not provide classification information. Experiment results show that proposed similarity method combining term semantics with content and structure semantics integration(LSI-CASS) is feasible, and it produces better clustering quality than LSI-CAS. © 2012 IEEE.

This paper presents an analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) for Chinese rural information society development (CRISD) policies in terms of its missions and strategies. After briefly describing the institutional and information society development contexts, the paper draws on literature reviews and questionnaires survey to list of SWOT factors for CRISD. These findings could be used to help adjust the next step work to support decision making for rural information society construction and to provide a valuable reference for other investors who are planning to invest in information society programs in China's rural regions.
