This study focuses on the learning-based asynchronous sliding mode control for switching systems, operating under a general switching rule and partially unknown probability information. A novel switching rule is constructed, governed by a joint probability distribution dependent on the current mode and its duration time, thereby overcoming the limitations of traditional Markov/semi-Markov models in terms of the difficulty in obtaining transition probabilities and computational complexity. Departing from traditional geometric distribution assumption, the proposed method follows more general duration distribution. Acknowledging the challenge of obtaining complete probability information in practical scenarios, partially unknown probability information is considered. In addition, a learning-based asynchronous sliding mode control law is developed, aimed at guiding state signals onto preset sliding regions and effectively reducing chattering induced by mode switchings. Finally, the efficacy and superiority of the developed theories are verified through both numerical and practical examples. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Investigating impacts of cost functions to atmospheric dispersion modeling and source term estimation in turbulent condition

Hazardous gas release will threaten social security and cause damage to property and environment. Establish an effective emergency response system with monitoring devices can help reduce the potential risk and provide evaluation for release accident emergencies. The gas concentration is detected by the gas concentration sensor arranged in the risk area, and the leakage assessment is carried out according to the meteorological conditions and the forward diffusion model. Because the data of leakage scenarios is not easy to obtain, the large eddy simulation method based on Fires Dynamics Simulator (FDS) is used in this paper to generate date through simulating release scenarios with turbulent condition. On this basis, the impacts of the cost function to the modeling process and source term estimation are studied. The results of source term estimation shows the function of the square sum of concentration deviation is better than other functions. However, the function cannot avoid the condition that the estimation index of some scenes is far from the average value because of turbulent flow. In addition, a combination of the estimation results of different cost functions can improve the situation to a certain extent. © All Right Reserved.

Takeaway Method Based on the Crowdsensing Path Planning System: A Study on the Use of Idle Bicycle Resources for Delivery

Due to the surge in takeaway demand, full-time delivery riders are facing challenges in completing their tasks on time. To address this issue, this study proposed a takeaway delivery method based on Crowdsensing. This strategy uses idle bicycle riders as resources to complete delivery tasks at a lower cost. To decrease the total delivery cost of merchants, the idle bicycle path planning model was established. The path planning problem of the proposed model is characterized by multiple riders, random locations, open deliveries, and pickup and delivery crossovers. Further, it belongs to the NP-hard problem. To solve this path planning model, a takeaway delivery-based genetic algorithm was designed. Order-preserving initialization was utilized to construct the initial population. The order crossover algorithm and adaptive mutation algorithm were introduced to overcome slow convergence and prevent the probability of falling into the local optimal solution of the traditional algorithm. The experimental results showed that the proposed takeaway delivery-based genetic algorithm had a fast convergence and high accuracy. Moreover, it can effectively solve the path planning model, thereby reducing merchant delivery cost and improving delivery timeliness. Stirred tanks play a pivotal role in material blending, yet there is still a lack of data on inner complex blending mechanism, especially involving heterogeneous particle swarm with different shape combinations. This study extensively develops the DEM-VOF model, in which different drag force models are applied based on the identification of particle shapes. It aims to provide an insight into the blending system dynamics of heterogeneous particle swarms through seven arranged particle schemes building upon three different shapes. The results show that the oblate-prolate ellipsoid particle scheme has the optimal suspension performance, but demonstrates high power consumption. The addition of spherical particles into the oblate-prolate ellipsoid particle scheme has significant effect on particle suspension, fluid flow and the evolution of free surface, while contributes to a reduction in power consumption. This study presents an analysis of the hydrodynamics and optimization of blending systems involving heterogeneous particle swarms in stirred tanks. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Owing to their high porosity, ultralow density, and excellent impedance matching, magnetic carbon aerogels are considered to be a promising microwave absorption (MA) material. However, the inevitable agglomeration of traditional magnetic microspheres in carbon materials makes it difficult to realize perfect electromagnetic synergy. In this study, Ni3Fe alloy particles are first assembled into a micro-helical Ni3Fe chain under ethylene glycol polymerization, which are further wrapped by MXene. Then, carbonyl-amine condensation reaction is used for the in-situ growth of poly-Schiff-base aerogels on the independent caterpillar-like Ni3Fe/MXene. Finally, ultralight TiO2/Ni3Fe/MXene/C (NFMC) aerogels are synthesized through calcination treatment. Benefiting from the electromagnetic synergistic effect of multi-dimensional and multi-component materials, the NFMC-7 aerogel exhibits excellent MA performance with a minimum reflection loss of -61.6 dB at 3.0-mm thickness and an effective absorption bandwidth of 8.16 GHz at 2.77-mm thickness under a low filler loading of 7.6 wt.%. Commercial computer simulation technology is used to verify the strong magnetic and dielectric loss characteristics of Ni3Fe chains. Meanwhile, the radar cross-section (RCS) simulation of NFMC-7 aerogels reveals their excellent radar stealth performance with a maximum RCS reduction value of 20.1 dB·m2 at 0° as well as thermal insulation property with a thermal conductivity of 0.046 W/m·K. Notably, the NFMC-7 aerogel is fire-resistant and can withstand nearly 750 times its own weight without damage, which verifies its practical applicability. Overall, this work establishes an effective strategy to fabricate multi-functional magnetic aerogels, which can serve as lightweight, thin, and strong microwave absorbers with broad absorption bandwidth. © 2024, The Authors. This paper is concentrated on the $\mathcal {H_{\infty }}$ state estimation problem for switched coupled neural networks based on a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. Notably, the time-variant network topology with alternate fast switchings and slow ones is described suitably by a persistent dwell-time rule, and the interactive dynamics with both cooperative properties and antagonistic ones among nodes are featured comprehensively by the switching signed graph. In view of the communication pressures brought by network-induced problems and the requirements in digital control, the round-robin protocol and logarithmic quantization are flexibly integrated for more transmission efficiency and fewer data collisions. Thereafter, by utilizing a relaxed multiple Lyapunov function method and some novel matrix process techniques, sufficient criteria guaranteeing the exponential stability in a globally uniform sense with a prescribed $\mathcal {H_{\infty }}$ performance level of the estimation error system are established. Finally, the synthesized analysis of the proposed method is presented with an illustrative example.

This paper is dealt with the rotor speed tracking problem of variable-speed wind turbine systems operating under the partial load condition. Singular perturbation techniques are used to characterize the two-time-scale property of the wind turbine system, and a linear parameter varying (LPV) model is formed to approximate nonlinear behaviours of a wind turbine system. Based on the slow-fast decomposition method, slow and fast subsystems are constructed: one for the mechanical dynamics and the other for the electrical dynamics. Slow and fast controls are derived, respectively, and then a local state feedback controller, sum of the slow and fast control, is formulated. A design procedure, using the linear parameter varying control to combine local controllers, is proposed to guarantee the robustness of the closed-loop nonlinear wind turbine system. Numerical examples are given to show the validity of the proposed control scheme. © 2020 IEEE.

Integration of microorganisms with semiconductors is an effective approach to sustainable solar-driven production of chemicals from CO2, which lies in the development of efficient, highly biocompatible, and low-cost photocatalysts. Herein, twinning Cd0.8Zn0.2S nanoparticles were synthesized and used for the first time in construction of a biohybrid system (Cd0.8Zn0.2S/S. ovata) with a non-photosynthetic acetogenic bacterium of Sporomusa ovata. The Cd0.8Zn0.2S/S. ovata yielded 49.33±3.54 mM of acetate at a production rate of 8.22±0.59 mM d-1 with a quantum efficiency of 16.82±1.21 %, which exceeded those of other reported biohybrid systems. Further investigation revealed that the twin-induced homojunctions with staggered phase alignment contributed to enhancing the separation efficiency of photogenerated electron-hole pairs and avoiding the photocorrosion. Due to the dual advantages of light absorption and biocompatibility of Cd0.8Zn0.2S, the Cd0.8Zn0.2S/S. ovata could efficiently harvest light energy and transfer photogenerated electrons to cellular metabolism, driving the Wood-Ljungdahl pathway to efficiently synthesize acetate with CO2. © 2023, The Authors.
