Dual-view gaze target estimation in classroom environments has not been thoroughly explored. Existing methods lack consideration of depth information, primarily focusing on 2D image information and neglecting the latent 3D spatial context, which could lead to suboptimal transformation and cause the gaze cone to intersect with an incorrect object. This paper introduces a novel dual-view gaze target estimation method tailored for classroom settings, leveraging depth-enhanced spatial transformations. By formulating a depth-enhanced 2D space, our method uses depth-enhanced spatial transformation to accurately project students' gaze cones to the teacher-oriented image. Additionally, we collected a dataset named DVSGE, specifically for student gaze target estimation in dual-view classroom images. Experimental results demonstrate significant performance improvements of 9.8% in AUC and 19.9% in L2-Distance for our method, surpassing existing methods. © 2025 IEEE.

PEJA:Progressive Energy-Efficient Join Processing for Sensor Networks

Sensor networks are widely used in many applications to collaboratively collect information from the physical environment. In these applications, the exploration of the relationship and linkage of sensing data within multiple regions can be naturally expressed by joining tuples in these regions. However, the highly distributed and resource-constraint nature of the network makes join a challenging query. In this paper, we address the problem of processing join query among different regions progressively and energy-efficiently in sensor networks. The proposed algorithm PEJA （Progressive Energy-efficient Join Algorithm） adopts an event-driven strategy to output the joining results as soon as possible, and alleviates the storage shortage problem in the in-network nodes. It also installs filters in the joining regions to prune unmatchable tuples in the early processing phase, saving lots of unnecessary transmissions. Extensive experiments on both synthetic and real world data sets indicate that the PEJA scheme outperforms other join algorithms, and it is effective in reducing the number of transmissions and the delay of query results during the join processing.

With the advancement of deep learning models nowadays, they have successfully applied in the semi-supervised medical image segmentation where there are few annotated medical images and a large number of unlabeled ones. A representative approach in this regard is the semi-supervised method based on consistency regularization, which improves model training by imposing consistency constraints (perturbations) on unlabeled data. However, the perturbations in this kind of methods are often artificially designed, which may introduce biases unfavorable to the model learning in the handling of medical image segmentation. On the other hand, the majority of such methods often overlook the supervision in the Encoder stage of training and primarily focus on the outcomes in the later stages, potentially leading to chaotic learning in the initial phase and subsequently impacting the learning process of the model in the later stages. At the meanwhile, they miss the intrinsic spatial-frequency information of the images. Therefore, in this study, we propose a new semi-supervised medical image segmentation approach based on frequency domain aware stable consistency regularization. Specifically, to avoid the bias introduced by artificially setting perturbations, we first utilize the inherent frequency domain information of images, including both high and low frequencies, as the consistency constraint. Secondly, we incorporate supervision in the Encoder stage of model training to ensure that the model does not fail to learn due to the disruption of the original feature space caused by strong augmentation. Finally, extensive experimentation validates the effectiveness of our semi-supervised approach.

SwimVG: Step-wise Multimodal Fusion and Adaption for Visual Grounding

Visual grounding aims to ground an image region through natural language, which heavily relies on cross-modal alignment. Most existing methods transfer visual/linguistic knowledge separately by fully fine-tuning uni-modal pre-trained models, followed by a simple stack of visual-language transformers for multimodal fusion. However, these approaches not only limit adequate interaction between visual and linguistic contexts, but also incur significant computational costs. Therefore, to address these issues, we explore a step-wise multimodal fusion and adaption framework, namely SwimVG. Specifically, SwimVG proposes step-wise multimodal prompts (Swip) and cross-modal interactive adapters (CIA) for visual grounding, replacing the cumbersome transformer stacks for multimodal fusion. Swip can improve the alignment between the vision and language representations step by step, in a token-level fusion manner. In addition, weight-level CIA further promotes multimodal fusion by cross-modal interaction. Swip and CIA are both parameter-efficient paradigms, and they fuse the cross-modal features from shallow to deep layers gradually. Experimental results on four widely-used benchmarks demonstrate that SwimVG achieves remarkable abilities and considerable benefits in terms of efficiency. There is a trend that, virtually everyone, rang- ing from big Web companies to traditional enterprisers to physical science researchers to social scientists, is either al- ready experiencing or anticipating unprecedented growth in the amount of data available in their world, as well as new op- portunities and great untapped value. This paper reviews big data challenges from a data management respective. In partic- ular, we discuss big data diversity, big data reduction, big data integration and cleaning, big data indexing and query, and fi- nally big data analysis and mining. Our survey gives a brief overview about big-data-oriented research and problems.

EG-DPoS: Optimized DPoS Consensus Algorithm Based on Evolutionary Game

Aiming at the problems of low enthusiasm among voting nodes, bribery from malicious nodes, and the vulnerability of sequential block generation by agent nodes in the delegated proof of stake (DPoS) consensus process, an optimized DPoS consensus algorithm based on evolutionary game theory (EG-DPoS) is proposed. The credit mechanism is introduced to construct the node voting incentive model, and the credit value reward is given according to the voting situation of nodes, which effectively improves the voting enthusiasm of nodes. Based on the strategy of evolutionary game, a behavior reward and punishment mechanism is formulated, which presets the corresponding revenue functions for different behavior strategies of nodes in the voting and election stage and implements rewards and punishments, so as to curb the bribery and collusion behavior of malicious nodes and ensure the stability and fairness of the system. The proportional coefficient of credit value and voting weight in the process of agent node election is balanced to reduce the oligopoly phenomenon caused by nodes with high credit value, while the roulette selection algorithm is used to randomize the block generation order of agent nodes, to avoid nodes being attacked during block generation and improve the security of the system. Simulated results show that compared with DPoS algorithm, EG-DPoS algorithm reduces the average delay by 36.83%, increases the average throughput by 19.44%, and improves the ratio of voting nodes to total nodes by approximately 42%. Due to the voting incentive mechanism within EG-DPoS and the fixed voting time, along with the influence of evolutionary game strategies, nodes will exhibit more secure and efficient behavior as the system operates. This leads to higher block generation and consensus efficiency for agent nodes, thereby reducing delay while improving throughput and the enthusiasm of voting nodes. Echo State Networks (ESNs) are popular in Time Series Classification (TSC) due to their high-dimensional stochastic projections. However, due to the echo state at the current step is susceptible to the preceding step, the existing ESNs struggle to capture the long-term temporal dependencies. Furthermore, most of them only employ the unidirectional storage to capture the sequence information, which fails to fully consider the impact of the past and future moments simultaneously. To address these issues, we propose an advanced method called Bidirectional Skip-stored Dual-Stream Gated Attention Network (BSDSGANet) for Multivariate Time Series Classification (MTSC). Specifically, to roundly exploit the sequence information, a Bidirectional Skip-Stored Encoder (BSSE) is designed to enrich the temporal context by integrating past and future information. Then, a Dual-Stream Gated Attention Learner (DSGAL) mechanism is incroporated, which employs a Gated Recurrent Self-Attention (GRSA) module to learn the long-term dependencies and variable relationships. Meanwhile, a Multi-Scale Gated Attention (MSGA) module is developed to extract more important features from multiple scales. Extensive experiments conducted on eighteen benchmark MTSC datasets show that BSDSGANet outperforms five traditional methods and twelve deep learning models. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Emerging technologies in sixth generation (6G) of wireless communications, such as terahertz communication and ultra-massive multiple-input multiple-output, present promising prospects. Despite the high data rate potential of millimeter wave communications, millimeter wave (mmWave) communications in urban low altitude economy (LAE) environments are constrained by challenges such as signal attenuation and multipath interference. Specially, in urban environments, mmWave communication experiences significant attenuation due to buildings, owing to its short wavelength, which necessitates developing innovative approaches to improve the robustness of such communications in LAE networking. In this paper, we explore the use of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-carried intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) to support low altitude mmWave communication. Specifically, we consider a typical urban low altitude communication scenario where a UAV-carried IRS establishes a line-of-sight (LoS) channel between the mobile users and a source user (SU) despite the presence of obstacles. Subsequently, we formulate an optimization problem aimed at maximizing the transmission rates and minimizing the energy consumption of the UAV by jointly optimizing phase shifts of the IRS and UAV trajectory. Given the non-convex nature of the problem and its high dynamics, we propose a deep reinforcement learning-based approach incorporating neural episodic control, long short-term memory, and an IRS phase shift control method to enhance the stability and accelerate the convergence. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm effectively resolves the problem and surpasses other benchmark algorithms in various performances. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites can be used to assist maritime wireless communications for data transmission across wide-ranging areas. However, extensive coverage of LEO satellites, combined with openness of channels, can cause the communication process to suffer from security risks. This paper presents a low-altitude friendly-jamming LEO satellite-maritime communication system enabled by a unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to ensure data security at the physical layer. Since such a system requires trade-off policies that balance the secrecy rate and energy consumption of the UAV to meet evolving scenario demands, we formulate a secure satellite-maritime communication multi-objective optimization problem (SSMCMOP). In order to solve the dynamic and long-term optimization problem, we reformulate it into a Markov decision process. We then propose a transformer-enhanced soft actor critic (TransSAC) algorithm, which is a generative artificial intelligence-enable deep reinforcement learning approach to solve the reformulated problem, so that capturing global dependencies and diversely exploring weights. Simulation results demonstrate that the TransSAC outperforms various baselines, and achieves an optimal secrecy rate while effectively minimizing the energy consumption of the UAV. Text-guided Reconstruction Network for Sentiment Analysis with Uncertain Missing Modalities

Multimodal Sentiment Analysis (MSA) is an attractive research that aims to integrate sentiment expressed in textual, visual, and acoustic signals. There are two main problems in the existing methods: 1) the dominant role of the text is underutilization in unaligned multimodal data, and 2) the modality under uncertain missing feature is not sufficiently explored. This paper proposes a Text-guided Reconstruction Network (TgRN) for MSA with uncertain missing modalities in non-aligned sequences. The TgRN network includes three primary modules: Text-guided Extraction Module (TEM), Reconstruction Module (RM) and Text-guided Fusion Module (TFM). First, the TEM consists of the text-guided cross attention units and self-attention units to capture inter-modal features and intra-modal features, respectively. Second, leveraging enhanced attention units and a three-way squeeze-and-excitation block, the RM is designed to learn semantic information from incomplete data and reconstruct missing modality features. Third, the TFM utilizes a progressive modality-mixing adaptation gate to explore the dynamic correlations between nonverbal and verbal modalities, effectively addressing the modality gap issue. Finally, under the supervision of sentiment prediction loss and reconstruction loss, the TgRN effectively processes both uncertain missing-modality conditions and ideal complete modality conditions. Extensive experiments on CMU-MOSI and CH-SIMS demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art approaches. © 2010-2012 IEEE.
