Fiber reinforced polymer Resin matrix composites have the good performance, and it is widely used in various fields to release the impact load. Over the past era of time, natural fibers have gained bursting attention than ever before from all the other research areas around the world. These natural fibers provide a plenty of advantages and strengthen than the other fibers. In this paper, we conduct a case study of the synthesis and mechanical properties of novel series of green composites including Hibiscus sabdariffa fiber as a reinforcing material in urea–formaldehyde（UF） resin based polymer matrix has been reported. Static mechanical properties of the previous randomly oriented intimately mixed Hibiscus sabdariffa fiber reinforced polymer composites such as tensile, compressive and wear properties are investigated as well. Initially urea–formaldehyde resin prepared is subjected to evaluation of its optimum mechanical properties. Then reinforcing of the resin with Hibiscus sabdariffa fiber is accomplished in three different forms: particle size, short fiber and long fiber by employing optimized resin. Proposed research reveals that mechanical properties such as tensile strength, compressive strength and wear resistance of the urea–formaldehyde resin increases to considerable extent when reinforced with the fiber. Thermal and morphological studies of the resin and bio-composites have also been conducted.

Urine Metabolites of Phthalate Esters in 434 Shanghai Children and Their Associations with Ventilation Habits

Phthalate have been reported to be associated with various adverse health effects in many countries or regions. In this paper, we assessed the urine levels of phthalate metabolites (PMs) in children and investigated their associations with various ventilation habits. During March 2013 to December 2014, we conducted an on-site inspection in 454 residences of 5-10 year-old children in Shanghai, China. The first morning urine samples of these children were took by cryogenic vials. We collected information with respect to ventilation habits by questionnaire. We analyzed ten PMs [Mono-methyl phthalate (MMP), Mono-ethyl phthalate (MEP), Mono-isobutyl phthalate (MiBP), Mono-n-butyl phthalate (MBP), Mono-benzyl phthalate (MBzP), Mono-cyclohexyl phthalate (MCHP), Mono-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (MEHP), Mono-2-ethyl-5-carboxypentyl phthalate (MECPP), Mono-2-ethyl-5-hydroxyhexyl phthalate (MEHHP), Mono-2-ethyl-5-oxohexyl (MEOHP)] by High performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). Mann-Whitney U test was applied to compare concentrations of urinary PMs among children with different ventilation habits. A total of 434 children had valid urine samples. The detection rates of PMs were >90% except for MBzP (51.2%) and MCHP (9.9%). The overall mean concentrations (standard deviation) of these metabolites were as follows: MnBP, 126.4 (205.9) μg/L; MiBP, 83.1 (119.2) μg/L; MECPP, 61.6 (111.1) μg/L; MEHHP, 42.9 (92.6) μg/L; MEP, 25.3 (51.5) μg/L; MEOHP, 23.9 (45.1) μg/L; MMP, 16.8 (21.5) μg/L; MEHP, 7.6 (19.0) μg/L; MBzP, 1.2 (4.3) μg/L; MCHP, 0.1 (0.2) μg/L. In general, averaged concentrations of PMs among children who opened the windows or doors were higher than among those who closed. Our results indicate that individual differences in PMs are obvious among Shanghai children. The optimal information rate for graph access structures of nine participants

The information rate is an important metric of the performance of a secret-sharing scheme. In this paper we consider 272 non-isomorphic connected graph access structures with nine vertices and eight or nine edges, and either determine or bound the optimal information rate in each case. We obtain exact values for the optimal information rate for 231 cases and present a method that is able to derive information-theoretical upper bounds on the optimal information rate. Moreover, we apply some of the constructions to determine lower bounds on the information rate. Regarding information rate, we conclude with a full listing of the known optimal information rate （or bounds on the optimal information rate） for all 272 graphs access structures of nine participants.

A comprehensive morphological hybrid filter considering symmetry maintained

In this paper, we present a comprehensive morphological hybrid filter considering symmetry maintained, based on composited the morphological hybrid filters and the generalized morphological hybrid filters. The filter improved filtering performance from two aspects: morphological operate mode and optimization of structure elements. It can eliminate the gray values deviation of the images and have the double advantage of the two-path dual filters. Simulation results show that the new hybrid filter can effectively remove the noise in the image while maintaining the image details. Compared with the other morphological hybrid filters, the images filtered by the new filter may have a higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and a smaller mean square error (MSE). © 2016 SERSC.

A discrete artificial bee colony algorithm (DABC) is proposed for solving the permutation flow shop scheduling problem (PFSSP) with minimum makespan criterion. Firstly, the NEH heuristic was combined the random initialization to the population for quality and diversity. Secondly, a new individual enhancement scheme is proposed to combine the swap, insert, inverse and adjacent exchange operation. Third, the fast local search is used to enhancing the individuals. Fourth, the pair-wise based local search is used to enhance the global optimal solution and escape from local minimum. Lastly, simulations and comparisons based on PFSSP benchmarks are carried out, which show that our algorithm is effectively and efficiently for solving the PFSSP.

Based on capillary tension, surface free energy and elasticity theory, a collapse model of nano-pore in C-S-H gel was created in hardened cement pastes. The stability of pore was analyzed by Gibbs free energy theory. The results show that, the capillary is more stable while the capillary is grater and rounder in the case of the aperture changing in the nanometer scope. When the aperture is changing in the scope of micrometer, the collapse possibility of the capillary is tiny. If the capillary size is fixed, the capillary is more stable while the elastic modulus of hydrated products is higher. © (2015) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Nonlinear creep model for deep rock under high stress and high pore water pressure condition

Conventional triaxial compression creep experiments for deep sandstone under high confining pressure and high pore water pressure were carried out, in order to predict the creep response of deep rock under these conditions. A nonlinear viscoelastic-plastic creep constitutive model was proposed based on the experimental results. The theory of component model was used as a basis for the formulation of this model. First, by using mathematical fitting and analogy, a new nonlinear viscous component was introduced based on the properties of the creep curves during the tertiary stage. Second, a timer component to judge whether the creep can get into the tertiary stage was presented. Finally, a nonlinear creep model was proposed. Results showed good agreement between theory curves from the nonlinear creep model and experimental data. This model can be applied to predict deep rock creep responses under high stress and high pore water pressure conditions. Hence, the obtained conclusions in this study are beneficial to deep rock engineering. © 2016 Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Institute of technology.

System identification performs as a core issue in structural dynamic analysis. In this study, transmissibility coherence is introduced for system identification with recalling the existing techniques based on transmissibility. Unlike previous approaches that require four-point measurement, the proposed methodology in this study only requires two-point measurement. The merit behind this approach is that the transmissibility coherence can be employed to estimate the subtraction of transmissibility between two reference points, by using auto- and cross-spectrum analysis. Verification using experimental data proves the feasibility of the proposed technique.
