The hyperbolic Mohr strength criterion can describe the rock failure properties better than the Mohr Coulomb strength criterion, especially the rock tensile property. Based on Mohr strength theory with hyperbolic failure envelope, an elastoplastic analysis of tunnels is presented by considering the seepage. An example is analyzed and contrasted with and without considering seepage. The radius of plastic zone with considering influence of seepage is larger than that without considering the influence. The results also indicate that the seepage have significant influences on plastic zone and tangential stress and radial stress. The results provide a theory base for stability analysis of surrounding rocks and engineering practice in tunnels, especially the failure envelopes of surrounding rocks take the form of hyperbolic.
