Implementation of M2M system for a racing car

As mobile network services have been widely used these days, the development technology of WCDMA or LTE and their applications are gradually expanded, and thus there is a trend that a lot of IT fusion industries are emerging. In this paper, M2M system was developed that utilize the OBD-II data and transfer several sensors data to an external server for other external devices to be able to confirm system of a racing cars. A M2M system for a racing car was implemented that reads information from the a variety of sensors inside the vehicle using the OBD-II connector, converts the data for users to see easily, and transfers the data to external data server using a mobile networks module. To conduct efficiency test, an ordinary vehicle and a racing car driving at high-speed on the actual circuit were used for the performance test of the developed system;generated data were transmitted through the OBD-II connector;it was confirmed that data were received without error and loss by the M2M system for racing car. In addition, it was also confirmed that the same data, as were transmitted to an external server using mobile networks, were sent and received normally. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

As an abnormal combustion caused by the compression and spontaneous ignition of unburned mixture during the latter process of combustion, if knocking occurs, it will result in loss of engine power as well as severe damage to engine. Therefore, it is very significant to monitor knocking. Generally, a practical method of monitoring knocking is to use a knocking sensor. However, by this method it is not possible to distinguish between engine's own vibrations and knocking if the vibrations match up with the range of the knocking sensor signal for the use of detection of knocking. In this study, knockking was diagnosed by way of using the signals of CKP sensor which is basically installed in the engine, instead of using such a problematic knocking sensor. Moreover, a mobile diagnostic system based on OBD-II for industrial CRDI engine has been developed. Since the developed engine diagnosis system makes it possible for an administrator to monitor automotive information in real time wihtout any other equipment, the person may promptly respond to occurance of malfunction in engine. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

Fuzzy clustering algorithm is employed in gene microarray analysis to discover the strength of the association between genes and different clusters. Gene-based fuzzy clustering algorithm just employs all instances' values of a certain gene as this gene's features. In some sense, the original feature vector can hardly provide comprehensive discriminative information of the gene. In this paper, a novel feature vector by the proposed measure for each gene is employed in fuzzy clustering algorithm. The proposed feature vector can provide information about the influence of a given gene for the overall shape of clusters. By analysis and experiment upon microarray data sets, the performance of the fuzzy clustering algorithm based on proposed feature vector is compared with that of some classical clustering algorithms. The results demonstrate that the fuzzy clustering algorithm based on proposed feature vector is capable of obtaining better clusters than other contrast algorithms. The results by classifiers based on different clustering algorithms demonstrate that the proposed feature vector can get the same or better accuracy than the original feature vector.

In this paper, we present a real time system for estimating the number of pedestrians from detection results in crowd, which may be very large and dense. Firstly, the scene is segmented into foreground and background, and pedestrian detection is performed on foreground area with GPU. In order to detect occluded pedestrians effectively, two detectors are used to detect two parts of pedestrian (upper body and full body). Then, we fuse two kinds of detection results by a series of strategies to obtain the final detection results, which are expected to be better than any one of the two. Thirdly, the number of final detection results is regarded as the estimate of the number of pedestrians after smoothed by kalman filter. Experimental evaluation on PEST 2009 data set is given and shows that our system is real time and effective. Copyright © 2014 Binary Information Press.

According to the structural stress analysis in piping engineering field, package of parametric command is advanced by developing user graphical operation interface with Visual Basic to solve the reality of complex command and operation in general finite element software. Analytical software is transferred in the background and results are output to the user interface by pipe stress parametric computer aided analytical platform. The engineering efficiency is improved a lot by this platform to make convenience for engineering members to do analysis and operation. © 2014 American Society of Civil Engineers.

The low computing power of sensors and especially their limited energy are obstacles to the deployment of advanced techniques, and many of the researchers are still searching for better solutions, which can accommodate security, would meld lifetime and a good latency of sensors. We have to remember that they are not the only secure solution in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The level of security and the vulnerability of a wireless sensors network depend on the application that we have to deploy. We suggest a few techniques in this paper. In future work, we may research to prolong the lifetime of the battery in the WSN by applying a solar mate in order to provide backup to the energy of power supply when it comes to drain. In order to apply CRDI engine as an industrial engine which can satisfy the criteria of emission control law recently reinforced domestically and internationally, it is intended to develop an engine control algorithm that can control the ECU for injection timing and injection volume at users discretion which used be done only by manufacturer, and use it for the purpose of test and evaluation of engine performance improvement and the reduction of emission gas. In order to develop such emulator dedicated to CRDI diesel engine, an efficient solution to improve fuel-efficiency and reduce the emission of harmful gas was suggested through detecting diesel knocking using the operating principles of CKP and CMP among the input elements of CRDI engine control ECU and proposing a design methodology for engine balance adjustment algorithm. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media.

A real-time condition check system for racing cars was implemented that reads information from the a variety of sensors inside the vehicle using the OBD-II scanner, converts the data for users to see easily, and transfers the data to external data server using a WCDMA module. An ordinary vehicle and a racing car driving at high-speed on the actual circuit were used for the performance test of the developed system;generated data were transmitted through the OBD-II scanner;it was confirmed that data were received without error and loss by the racing car state check system. In addition, it was also confirmed that the same data, as were transmitted to an external server using WCDMA, were sent and received normally. In the future, this technology will increase as part of a new automotive IT research fields. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.

This study developed the knocking analysis algorithms for fuel redection applicable to the ECU exclusive to the industrial CRDI engine in order to meet the enhanced emission standards. In order to develop algorithms to determine diesel knocking using the operating principles of CKP and CMP among the input elements of CRDI engine control ECU. The development of the algorithms has enabled to adjust fuel injection timing and amount. Thus, this study aims to improve engine efficiency and to reduce emissions. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.

Non-coding RNA transcripts play important roles in different regulatory functions inside the cell which were previously treated as "junk". Exploring the differences between the non-coding transcripts with the protein coding transcripts helps researchers annotate many novel RNA transcripts. Researchers already showed that the secondary structures of non-coding RNA transcripts can be used to distinguish them from coding transcripts. But, there is a large class of non-coding transcripts that are completely unstructured, thereby making the structure-based classification results unreliable. However, the advent of Next Generation Sequencing platform, RNA-seq, producing more and more expression data of many organisms under different set of conditions, adds a new dimension to this classification task. In this paper, we presented a way to integrate the primary structures (i.e., the sequence), secondary structures and differential expressions of the two types of transcripts obtained from RNA-seq experiments under three different conditions and design a better classification method. We employed two popular classification algorithms-SVMs and Conditional Random Forest classifier to build the model to discriminate the two classes. The prediction accuracy of these classifiers are 93% and 91% respectively which are much higher than those of the two existing classification systems - CPC and PORTRAIT.
