Reinforcement Learning (RL) is an extraordinarily paradigm that aims to solve a complex problem. This technique leverages the traditional feedforward networks with temporal-difference learning to overcome supervised and unsupervised real-world problems. However, RL is one of state-of-the-art topic due to the opaque aspects in design and implementation. Also, in which situation we will get performance gain from RL is still unclear. Therefore, This study firstly examines the impact of Experience Replay in Deep Q-Learning agent with Self-Driving Car application. Secondly, The impact of Eligibility Trace in RNN A3C agents with Breakout AI game application is studied. Our results indicated that these two techniques enhance RL performance by more than 20 percent as compared with traditional RL methods. © 2019 IEEE.

This study focuses on the brainwave analysis of the correlation between listening to the rain and water sounds and reducing human-perceived temperature. Brainwave changes are monitored when experimental subjects listen to rain and water sounds at various frequencies. The experiment result shows that listening to the sounds of rain and water in an environment of high temperature and high humidity can boost α waves to induce feelings of calm and relaxed mental state. In order to investigate subjects’ psychological and physiological changes induced by brainwave changes while listening to rain and water sounds for different time durations in a high temperature and humidity environment, this study uses the Fourier transform to obtain the spectra of natural rain/water sounds and analyzes the sound frequencies. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In the era of the global village, frequent cross-border trade in goods has made container transportation a significant part in delivery of cargo. However, rollover accidents of container trucks often occur because of tall truck height, improper cargo stowage or crooked roads. Therefore, how to find the optimal center of gravity (CG) of the packed cargo remains an issue that the transportation industry should not neglect. To optimize cargo stability and reduce the incidence of rollovers, this paper proposes a genetic algorithm that scores the cargo stacking process to find the best CG of the cargo based on the CG of the vehicle. According to the deviation angle and the point closest to the best CG, we can Figure out the optimal cargo stacking method. © 2022 IEEE.

Teaching engineering and technology subjects involves conveying understanding of abstract information structures and processes such as complex telecommunications protocols, complex mathematical concepts, and data structures. These are multidimensional and can be difficult to grasp quickly. Supported by a Hewlett-Packard (HP) technology for Teaching grant, the School of Engineering and technology at National University has embarked on a project to enable students to grasp these complex concepts more quickly and easily, using continuous dialog among students and instructors as the structures are first introduced and then examined from multiple perspectives through real-time interaction among students, small groups, and instructors. HP Wireless Tablet PCs are used to discuss and experiment with diagrams and processes in realtime. This allows combining lectures and problem-solving sessions into a single class session. Our hypothesis is that: 1) an in-depth learning of theory is accomplished, and 2) student engagement is enhanced. Presentation of theory by the instructor is integrated with application while the theory is still in the student's short-term memory. Students no longer have to wait for a separate session such as a recitation session to apply the concepts. This approach often takes less time. In addition to accelerating the learning process, expert instructors find this approach more rewarding as students grasp new concepts more quickly. Analysis of data captured from both students and instructors are presented to support our hypotheses, and our results are compared with similar research carried out by other universities. In addition, the level of interaction enabled by the use of HP Tablets in on-line classes is discussed. The best teaching tools available in existing on-line teaching platforms are compared with the additional tools available in on-site courses when every student has a wireless Tablet PC and specific recommendations are made to on-line teachi

This study examines the impacts of network effect strategies, namely network structure and technology complementarity, on mobile payment (MP) loyalty. Drawing on network effect and the dedication/constraint-based model, this study proposes that network structure and technology complementarity will reinforce perceived benefits (i.e., dedication factor) and switching cost (i.e., constraint factor), which in turn formulate MP loyalty. We conduct an online survey with 318 MP users to empirically validate the model. The key findings include (1) network structure is a formative construct with size, centrality, and capability dimensions, whereas technology complementarity is a multidimensional construct with platform-application, application-service, and service-strategy elements;(2) network structure and technology complementarity exerts influences on MP loyalty through the underlying dedication-based mechanism, i.e., perceived benefits, and constraint-based mechanism, i.e., switching cost. Theoretical and practical implications and the opportunities for future research are discussed.

Global warming due to excessive emission greenhouse gases is a significant issue faced by humanity, and collectively, cars and trucks contribute about 20% to the entire global-warming gases. For a reason, recently, many attempts have been endured to reduce the emission and to increase fuel efficiency, including vehicle platooning, better driving strategy, and increasing engine efficiency. This study intends to provide a more detail assessment regarding the effects of the driving strategy to fuel consumption. For the purpose, the vehicle dynamics are quantified by employing the car-following model based on the optimal velocity model. The fuel consumption is estimated from the regression model of Ahn 18 . The result suggests that the braking distance strongly affects fuel consumption.

Classification of the Structural Integrity by the General Vibration Method

Traditionally, for the purpose of classifying the integrity of an engineering structure, one may use the information of the natural frequencies or mode shapes or some other measures derived from the two. In this research, we propose a classification method on the basis of the general vibration model. The general vibration model is essentially a set of differential equations describing the dynamics of the structure under consideration. For the purpose of damage detection, a deviation of the general vibration model from the dynamic equilibrium point marks the occurrence of the damage. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the method, we study two simplest dynamical systems consisting of one- and two-concentrated masses subjected to a prescribed dynamic load. The structural damages are introduced artificially by reducing the stiffness of spring in the structures. We find that the general vibration model is more sensitive to damages than the traditional methods.

It is the key successful factors for the manufacture industry that create and select the key parameters in product design to match customer requirements in multimedia. Previous literature studies are focused on the development of customer requirements or parameter selection in product design but not the development of customer demand modelling and product parameter selections in multimedia. In this way we can achieve the purpose of meeting customer demand for product design in multimedia. Kano is a successful method to solve the customer requirements selections issues. And, the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) method is a method to solve the contradiction of product design. Therefore;the integration of the Kano and theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) methods is proposed to solve the cable product design in multimedia. This algorithm is also verified in an electronic manufacture. In summary, the proposed algorithm can be helpful by creating a product system in multimedia in this study. Despite participating in a growing number of tournaments, but can e-sports players continuously learn and improve? This question is deeply connected with experiential learning theory since players could acquire experience through repetitive participation but with increasingly smaller marginal returns. Observational learning is touted as a complementary learning mechanism by drawing on external sources of knowledge (or others) to accelerate learning progress. This study hence advances a dynamic and integrated research model that scrutinizes the moderating influence of peer- and rival-based observational learning on the relationship between experiential learning and team performance. Analyzing data gathered on 8,410 teams and 29,078 players in e-Sports games, we reveal that peer-based observational learning attenuates the negative effect of experiential learning on players’ incremental absorptive capacity, whereas rival-based observational learning reinforces the negative relationship between experiential learning and players’ incremental absorptive capacity.
