QoE optimization for traffic offloading from LTE to WiFi

In this paper, a novel QoE (Quality of Experience) optimization mechanism is proposed for the coexistence between LTE and WiFi networks, where traffic offloading is enabled from LTE to WiFi. Firstly, the throughput models of LTE and WiFi are analyzed, respectively. And then the users' satisfaction function is introduced to measure QoE. An optimal problem that maximizing the QoE of LTE network with guaranteeing the QoE of WiFi network, is formulated and solved by transformation and simplification. Simulation results indicate that traffic offloading can greatly improve the QoE of LTE network. © 2019 IEEE.

Logistics vehicle and cargo matching problem is a typical combination optimization problem, which has important theoretical and application value in the field of logistics distribution. The proved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is one of the most extensive optimization methods studied in recent years, with excellent global search ability and convergence speed. Based on the IPSO algorithm, this paper proposes an effective IPSO algorithm model for the matching problem of logistics vehicles and goods, and conducts the corresponding comparative experiment. The final experimental results show that the algorithm has good results in practical application and can provide a feasible optimization method for solving the problem of logistics vehicles and goods.

Measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (MDI-QKD) can eliminate all detector side-channel loopholes and has shown excellent performance in long-distance secret keys sharing. Conventional security proofs, however, require additional assumptions on sources and that can be compromised through uncharacterized side channels in practice. Here, we present a general formalism based on reference technique to prove the security of MDI-QKD against any possible sources' imperfection and/or side channels. With this formalism, we investigate the asymptotic performance of single-photon sources without any extra assumptions on the state preparations. The measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (MDI-QKD) can be immune to all detector side-channel attacks. Moreover, it can be easily implemented combining with the matured decoy-state methods under current technology. It thus seems a very promising candidate in practical implementation of quantum communications. However, it suffers from severe finite-data-size effect in most existing MDI-QKD protocols, resulting in relatively low key rates. Recently, Jiang et al. [Phys. Rev. A 103, 012402 (2021)] proposed a double-scanning method to drastically increase the key rate of MDI-QKD. Based on Jiang et al.’s theoretical work, here we for the first time implement the double-scanning method into MDI-QKD and carry out corresponding experimental demonstration. With a moderate number of pulses of 1010, we can achieve 150 km secure transmission distance which is impossible with all former methods. Therefore, our present work paves the way towards practical implementation of MDI-QKD. © 2021, CC BY.

Reference-frame-independent measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (RFI-MDI-QKD) can remove all potential detector side-channel attacks and the requirement of real-time alignment of reference frames. However, all previous RFI-MDI-QKD implementations assume the perfect state preparation in sources, which is impractical and may lead to security loopholes. Here, we propose a RFI-MDI-QKD protocol which is robust against state preparation flaws. Comparing to the conventional six-state RFI-MDI-QKD, our scheme can be realized with only four flawed states, which improves the practical security of RFI-MDI-QKD and simplifies the experimental implementation. In addition, simulation results demonstrate that source flaws in Z basis have adverse effect on the performance of RFI-MDI-QKD while the source flaws in X and Y bases have almost no effect. We hope that this work could provide a valuable reference for practical implementations of RFI-MDI-QKD. © 2021, CC BY.

Quantum correlation is a fundamental property which distinguishes quantum systems from classical ones, and it is also a fragile resource under projective measurement. Recently, it has been shown that a subsystem in entangled pairs can share nonlocality with multiple observers in sequence. Here we present a new steering scenario where both subsystems are accessible by multiple observers. Content sharing via device to device (D2D) communication is considered as a promising method to improve the performance of cellular network. However, in D2D networks, the placement of multimedia content is still an complex and urgent issue. Hence, it is significant to figure out a fine-grained content collaboration placement and delivery strategy in D2D networks. For the efficient utilization of the storage and downloading capacity of user devices, we introduce a distributed content segment sharing strategy. In order to improve QoE with limited network resource, such strategy provides users multimedia service with differentiated quality. Then, we formulate QoE-driven D2D content segment placement with service differentiation as a submodular maximization problem, and a polynomial time algorithm is proposed. Simulation results shows that proposed algorithm outperforms the algorithms without distributed content segments sharing mechanism in terms of QoE. It also demonstrates that proposed algorithm has better on the performance of cache content diversity and fairness.

With the deployment of compute-intensive applications on mobile devices, some work aims to support these applications by enhancing mobile edge computing (MEC) using device-to-device (D2D) communication technology. Different from previous work, we investigate the energy consumption optimization of MEC assisted by idle user equipment (UE) in a mobile environment when combining the two technologies, and propose an optimization method for continuous time. In this paper, we build a D2D-MEC model with user mobility. To optimize the processing decision to save the energy consumption in continuous time under this model, we define long-term costs and formulate the problem of minimizing long-term costs as a markov decision process (MDP) problem. The complex MDP problem is decomposed into two sub-problems, where the explicit cost is minimized first and then the long-term cost. Due to the uncertainty of the environment caused by the mobility of the UE and the high dimensionality of the environmental information, we use the reinforcement learning method based on the neural network approximation to minimize the long-term cost.

The problem of vehicle routing planning (VRP) has far-reaching influence, and is widely used in vehicle scheduling, industrial production, transportation, logistics and distribution. The study of VRP and its associated derivations has grown significantly in recent years. So, starting with the fundamental VRP, this paper categorizes the VRP based on its traits and real-world applications. It then in-depth analyses the capacity constrained VRP, time window VRP, batched delivery VRP, dynamic VRP, and stochastic demand VRP, and provides an update on each type of VRP's research. Additionally, a summary of the VRP problem-solving methods is provided. The study of evolutionary algorithms is the main topic of this paper, and the fundamental solution method is provided in accordance with the development of the algorithms.
