Cross-language information retrieval research has favored system-centered approaches in the past. The user is not an integral part of the translation and retrieval processes. In this paper, we investigate the problem of personalized cross-language information retrieval by exploiting query expansion techniques. The original query is augmented with terms mined from the user's historical usage information in one language, with the aim of retrieving more relevant results in another language. Experiments semi-automatically constructed by using bilingual Wikipedia documents showed that in general personalized approaches work better than non-personalized approaches. We also found that an individual user model generated from one language can be used to enhance the personalized cross-language information retrieval.

A locking mechanism for distributed database systems

To overcome the disadvantages of the traditional locking mechanism for Distributed Database Systems (DDBS), such as the low transaction concurrency and the high communication costs, this paper studies the traditional mechanism with Two-phase Locking (2PL) protocol, and redefines the lock types and their compatibility matrix in DDBS, designs the structure of the Lock Table, improves the lock policy and the lock algorithm. Those make up of a new locking mechanism for DDBS. The experimental results show that this mechanism can intensively control and flexibly manage the requirements for locks with improved 2PL protocol and multi-granularity locking, and effectively ensure serializing scheduling of transactions and decrease the costs of communications while locking. It obtains the better transaction concurrency than the traditional mechanism. © 2014 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

Effective workflow scheduling can improve the performance of workflow systems. Based on our previous works related to supporting instance aspect handling in workflows, this paper further studies the time-cost trade-off optimization problem of grouping and scheduling multiple workflow activity instances with the objectives of minimum acitity instances' total dwelling time and minimum acitity instances' total cost under multiple constraints. Its mathematic model is constructed and a scheduling optimizatin algorithm named PACO-TC is proposed. The result of simulation experiment shows its effectiveness.

Propose a fault diagnosis method which combines analytical redundancy with bond graph model for electrolytic high power rectifier system. Firstly, using the software 20-sim, the author builds a bond graph model of the system and established a diagnostic bond graph model through adding virtual sensor in bond graph model;then, according to the causal relationship in the components, analytical redundancy relationship and its fault characteristic matrix are set up;finally, comparing the observed characteristics matrix and fault characteristic matrix, fault can be detected and isolated quickly. The simulation results demonstrate that the method is convenient and effective for Power electronic fault diagnosis. © 2014 IFSA Publishing, S. L.

Spiking neural P systems are a new class of bio-inspired computing devices incorporating the ideas of spiking neural networks into P systems. Homogeneous spiking neural P systems are a variant of spiking neural P systems, where each neuron has the same set of rules. The universality of homogeneous spiking neural P systems without delays is investigated and proved. This paper provides an answer to an open problem formulated by Zeng Xiangxiang, etal. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In this paper we propose a new kind of geometry driven subdivision scheme for curve interpolation. We use cubic Lagrange interpolatory polynomial to construct a new point, selecting parameters by accumulated chord length method. The new scheme is shape preserving. It can overcome the shortcoming of the initial four point subdivision scheme proposed. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Integrating local and partial network view for routing on scale-free networks

Traditional routing schemes,such as OSPF,optimize data plane routing efciency by maintaining full view of the network at the control ***,maintaining full network view and handling frequent routing information updates are costly in large-scale complex networks,which are considered to be the root causes for the routing scalability ***,it is suggested that routing on local or partial information is plausible if slight performance degradation is *** paper proposes a routing scheme,operating on an integrated network view at each node that consists of its local neighborhood and a globally unique skeleton *** scheme signifcantly reduces storage,communication and processing *** scale-free networks,this beneft only comes at the cost of marginal performance degradation,which implies that it is not worthwhile to do shortest path routing based on full view of the network on scale-free *** contrast,the routing efciency is severely aggravated on purely random networks,indicating the inappropriateness of this scheme and the rationality of maintaining full network view on random networks.

This paper investigates how to use diversity introduction methods to enhance the dynamic evolutionary multiobjective optimization algorithms in dealing with dynamic multiobjective optimization problems (DMOPs). Although diversity introduction method is easy used to response to the dynamic change, current diversity introduction methods still have a difficulty in identifying the correct proportion of diversity introduction. To overcome this difficulty, this paper proposes an adaptive diversity introduction (ADI) method. Specifically, the proportion of diversity introduction can be dynamically adjusted rather than being hand designed and fixed in advance. In addition, an adaptive relocation operator is designed to adapt the evolving individuals to the new environmental condition. The effectiveness of the ADI method is validated against various diversity introduction methods upon five DMOPs test problems. The simulation results show that the proposed ADI has better robustness and total performance than other diversity introduction methods.

Spurred by services computing and Web 2.0, more and more mashups are emerging on the Internet. The overwhelming mashups become too large to be effectively recommended by traditional methods. In view of this challenge, we propose a clustering-based collaborative filtering approach for mashup recommendation over big data. This approach mainly divided into two phases: clustering and collaborative filtering. By using clustering techniques, the data size is reduced so that the computation time of collaborative filtering algorithm is decreased significantly. Several experiments are done to verify the efficient of the proposed approach at the end of this paper. © 2013 IEEE.

As the increasing numbers of various multi-functional Cloud services are rapidly evolving in the Cloud market, how to recommend ideal multi-functional services becomes a great challenge. Due to its simplicity and promising results, collaborative filtering has been one of the most dominant methods used in recommender systems. The fundamental assumption of collaborative filtering is that users rated items similarly will rate other items similarly. However, with regards to a multi-functional service, a user may only use one of the functions and give a post-rating. Such a rating emotionally expresses the user's preference on the function rather than on the whole service. Therefore, it is appropriate to measure similarity at the granularity of functions' ratings. In our proposed approach, each user's rating is assigned to a function according to the usage record. Then, a hybrid user-based and item-based collaborative filtering algorithm is used to recommend multi-functional services. Such approach is experimentally verified at the end of this paper.
