Delayed distributed impulsive synchronization of coupled neural networks with mixed couplings

In this paper, synchronization problem of coupled neural networks (CNNs) with both the distributed delay coupling (DDC) and the nonlinear coupling is studied. Firstly, a novel array of delayed inequalities with mixed delays is introduced. Specifically, mixed delays involve the distributed delay and discrete impulsive delays. Stemmed from such newly proposed inequalities, some sufficient conditions ensuring the exponential synchronization of CNNs are obtained by utilizing technique of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) and Kronecker product. Furthermore, the delay-dependent distributed impulsive controller is devised, where discrete delays can be nonidentical at different impulsive instants. In addition, we pay special attention on synchronization issue of large-scale CNNs and derive some low-dimensional sufficient conditions by employing the technique of the matrix decomposition. Finally, two illustrative numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of theoretical results. (c) 2022 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Estimating and enlarging the region of attraction of multi-equilibrium points system by state-dependent edge impulses

When an isolated equilibrium of a nonlinear system is locally attractive, it might be difficult to estimate and then enlarge its Region of Attraction (RA). To solve this problem, this paper, by means of impulsive control, provides an effective method, i.e., state-dependent edge impulse (STDEI) combining with SOS programming and trajectory reversing with convex hull. Based on SOS programming and trajectory reversing, the initial estimation of RA is established. Then, by applying STDEI, we can design and then obtain the enlarged estimation of RA. Three numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approaches.

Finite-time stabilization of nonlinear systems via impulsive control with state-dependent delay

This paper focuses on the issue of finite-time stability for a general form of nonlinear systems subject to state-dependent delayed impulsive controller. Based on the Lyapunov theory and the impulsive control theory, sufficient conditions for finite-time stability (FTS) and finite-time contractive stability (FTCS) are obtained. Additionally, we apply theoretical results to finite-time synchronization of chaotic systems and design the effective state-dependent delayed impulsive controllers in terms of techniques of linear matrix inequality (LMI). Finally, we present two numerical examples of finite-time synchronization of cellular neural networks and Chua's circuit to verify the effectiveness of our results. (C) 2021 The Franklin Institute. Distributed primal-dual optimisation method with uncoordinated time-varying step-sizes

This paper is concerned with the distributed optimisation problem over a multi-agent network, where the objective function is described by a sum of all the local objectives of agents. The target of agents is to collectively reach an optimal solution while minimising the global objective function. Under the assumption that the information exchange among agents is depicted by a sequence of time-varying undirected graphs, a distributed optimisation algorithm with uncoordinated time-varying step-sizes is presented, which signifies that the step-sizes of agents are not always uniform per iteration. In light of some reasonable assumptions, this paper fully conducts an explicit analysis for the convergence rate of the optimisation method. A striking feature is that the algorithm has a geometric convergence rate even if the step-sizes are time-varying and uncoordinated. Simulation results on two numerical experiments in power systems show effectiveness and performance of the proposed algorithm.

Event-triggered synchronization for reaction-diffusion complex networks via random sampling

In this paper, the synchronization problem of the reaction-diffusion complex networks (RDCNs) with Dirichlet boundary conditions is considered, where the data is sampled randomly. An event-triggered controller based on the sampled data is proposed, which can reduce the number of controller and the communication load. Under this strategy, the synchronization problem of the diffusion complex network is equivalently converted to the stability of a of reaction-diffusion complex dynamical systems with time delay. By using the matrix inequality technique and Lyapunov method, the synchronization conditions of the RDCNs are derived, which are dependent on the diffusion term. Moreover, it is found the proposed control strategy can get rid of the Zeno behavior naturally. Finally, a numerical example is given to verify the obtained results. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. In this article, we come up with a novel Nesterov gradient and heavy-ball double accelerated distributed synchronous optimization algorithm, called NHDA, and adopt a general asynchronous model to further propose an effective asynchronous algorithm, called ASY-NHDA, for distributed optimization problem over directed graphs, where each agent has access to a local objective function and computes the optimal solution via communicating only with its immediate neighbors. Our goal is to minimize a sum of all local objective functions satisfying strong convexity and Lipschitz continuity. Consider a general asynchronous model, where agents communicate with their immediate neighbors and start a new computation independently, that is, agents can communicate with their neighbors at any time without any coordination and use delayed information from their in-neighbors to compute a new update. Delays are arbitrary, unpredictable, and time-varying but bounded. The theoretical analysis of NHDA is based on analyzing the interaction among the consensus, the gradient tracking, and the optimization processes. As for the analysis of ASY-NHDA, we equivalently transform the asynchronous system into an augmented synchronous system without delays and prove its convergence through using the generalized small gain theorem. The results show that NHDA and ASY-NHDA converge to the optimal solution at a linear convergence as long as the largest step size is positive and less than an explicitly estimated upper bound, and the largest momentum parameter is nonnegative and less than an upper bound. Finally, we demonstrate the advantages of ASY-NHDA through simulations.

1n wireless sensor networks (WSNs), each sensor node can estimate the global parameter from the local data in a distributed manner. This paper proposed a diffusion estimation algorithm based on sub-regions, which are referred to as the SR-DLMS algorithm. The proposed algorithm divides the sensor network into several sub-regions, which used to estimate sub-dimensions of the parameter. Compared with the diffusion LMS algorithm, communication cost of the proposed algorithm is greatly reduced without affecting the estimation performance. Numerical simulations are given to verify the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper, we propose a reduced-communication diffusion LMS algorithm that each node receives the intermediate estimates from only a subset of neighbors. Neighbor nodes are selected by a time-varying dynamic parameter. Unlike conventional diffusion LMS, information from multi-hop neighbors are participated in estimation to improve the approximate accuracy of a global cost function. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed algorithm not only outperforms other related methods but also reduces the communication load.

In the fields of face identification and virtual reality, it is important to generate a face image at arbitrary views from a single-view face image. In this work, a generative adversarial network is used to design an end-to-end network that can generate full-view face images with only an arbitrary singleview image input. We aim to tackle the problem of the existing databases containing the ground-truth only in specific views, with no data available for network training in arbitrary views. We propose to share the generator weights for specific views and arbitrary views during training and use optical flow interpolation between two adjacent specific views to constrain the consistency of facial structure in continuous views. Finally, it is proved using a public database that the proposed method is significantly better than the existing network for the generation of the full-view face images, particularly under the continuous rotation view.

Fully distributed event-triggered pinning group consensus control for heterogeneous multi-agent systems with cooperative-competitive interaction strength

This paper mainly studies the group consensus problem of the heterogeneous multi-agent systems with cooperative and competitive interactions and their strength among the agents. And both event-triggered mechanism and pinning control method are considered based on the system's topology with connected components. Besides, the novel fully distributed event-triggered conditions which only contain the local information for each agent are designed. Then, some sufficient conditions and the corresponding pinning control strategies are obtained via using algebraic graph theory and Lyapunov stability theorem, which can guarantee the system to reach multiple group consensus. In addition, Zeno-behavior for each agent is strictly excluded by utilizing time-correlation function. Finally, several simulations illustrate that our findings and the proposed methods are effective. Moreover, the results show that the convergence rate of the system will increase with the appropriate change of the cooperative or competitive interaction or their strength. (c) 2021 Elsevier B.V.
