SecEDMO: Enabling Efficient Data Mining with Strong Privacy Protection in Cloud Computing

Frequent itemsets mining and association rules mining are among the top used algorithms in the area of data mining. Secure outsourcing of data mining tasks to the third-party cloud is an effective option for data owners. However, due to the untrust cloud and the distrust between data owners, the traditional algorithms which only work over plaintext should be re-considered to take security and privacy concerns into account. For example, each data owner may not be willing to disclose their own private data to others during the cooperative data mining process. The previous solutions are either not sufficiently secure or not efficient. Therefore, we propose a Secure and Efficient Data Mining Outsourcing (SecEDMO) scheme for secure outsourcing of frequent itemsets mining and association rules mining over the joint database (i.e., database aggregated from multiple data owners) in the paradigm of cloud computing. Based on our customized lightweight symmetric homomorphic encryption algorithm and a secure comparison algorithm, SecEDMO can ensure strong privacy protection and low data mining latency simultaneously. Moreover, the well-designed virtual transaction insertion algorithm can hide the information of the original database while still preserving the cloud's ability to perform data mining over the obfuscated data. By evaluation of a numerical experiment and theoretical comparisons, the correctness, security, and efficiency of SecEDMO are confirmed.

Metasurfaces have attracted considerable interest in optical encryption due to their remarkable ability to manipulate light at subwavelength scales, however the aspect of encryption security remains an area requiring deeper exploration. Here, we propose and demonstrate metasurface-enabled optical encryption and steganography that provides dual-layer information protection. A secret information is embedded within multiple carrier images using a run-length encoding algorithm, dispersing the data to safeguard it against direct observation and brute-force attacks, thereby establishing the first layer of security. The second layer is achieved by encoding the multiple carrier images onto a silicon metasurface, leveraging light wavelength and polarization to generate diverse optical keys post-steganography. To validate the proposed scheme, several silicon metasurface samples are fabricated and characterized in the visible spectrum. By adjusting various combinations of optical keys, three encrypted carrier images are retrieved with high fidelity and negligible crosstalk, and the concealed secret information is successfully extracted through a corresponding decryption algorithm. The proposed approach enhances optical information security at the hardware level, making it less susceptible to leakage. It is anticipated that the demonstrated advancement will hold significant potential for applications in information security and optical anti-counterfeiting.

Conventional electronic skin (e-skin) that combines non-contact sensing with contact sensing relies on the combination of sensors, greatly hindering its application in human-machine interface (HMI). Herein, a triboelectric nanogenerator based on Ecoflex/PEDOT:PSS (EP-TENG) is proposed to achieve both contact and noncontact sensing. The EP-TENG comprises an Ecoflex/PEDOT:PSS triboelectric layer with a cicada winginspired microstructure and MXene electrode with superior conductivity. Benefit from the high specific surface area brought by cicada wing micropillars and the charge retention ability of PEDOT:PSS, The EP-TENG has good non-contact sensing capability within a range of 80 mm and also has excellent performance in contact mode, with an open circuit voltage (Voc) of 124 V and a power density of 75.3 mW/m2. Importantly, our work develops a dual-mode control strategy that combines non-contact gesture recognition and contact-based interactive control. We demonstrate the EP-TENG dual-mode control through a Tetris unlocking system, which makes up for the lack of precise control in the non-contact mode and shows its important application potential in multimode human-computer interaction in complex scenarios in the future.

In this article, we consider a class of decentralized nonsmooth composite optimization problems over undirected graphs. The global optimization problem is to minimize the sum of local objective functions consisting of a Lipschitz-differentiable convex function and two possibly nonsmooth convex functions, one of which contains a bounded linear operator. The goal is to solve the global optimization problem through decentralized computation and communication over a network of agents without a central coordinator. Through using triple proximal splitting operators to deal with the nonsmooth terms, we come up with a novel decentralized algorithm with uncoordinated stepsizes, where the stepsizes with independent upper bounds are also distributed for agents or edges over the communication network. Furthermore, we establish the sublinear convergence rate for the proposed algorithm in terms of the first-order optimality residual in a nonergodic sense. Simulation experiments on a constrained quadratic programming problem and an optimal load-sharing problem are carried out to verify the correctness of the theoretical results.

The polymorphic nature of In2Se3 leads to excellent phase-dependent physical properties including ferroelectricity, photoelectricity, and especially the intriguing phase change ability, making the precise phase modulation of In2Se3 of fundamental importance but very challenging. Here, the growth of In2Se3 with desired-phase is realized by temperature-controlled selenization of van der Waals (vdW) layered bulk gamma-InSe. Detailed results of Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and state-of-the-art spherical aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy (Cs-TEM) clearly and consistently show that beta-In2Se3, 3R alpha-In2Se3, and 2H alpha-In2Se3 can be perfectly obtained at approximate to 270, approximate to 300, and approximate to 600 degrees C, respectively. Further comprehensive atomic imaging analyses confirm that the seeding material, InSe, plays a critical role in the low-temperature epitaxial growth of vdW-layered In2Se3, and, more interestingly, beta-In2Se3 acts as an intermediate phase between 3R and 2H alpha-In2Se3 transitions. This investigation not only provides a simple yet versatile strategy for the phase modulation of In2Se3, but also sheds light on the temperature-dependent phase evolution of In2Se3.

Circuit partitioning, an essential strategy in physical design, involves dividing a circuit according to specific constraints to meet particular objectives. These objectives frequently include minimizing the cut set between partitions, reducing the delay across partitions, maximizing partition sleep time to reduce power consumption, and assessing the algorithm's time complexity. Previous efforts have introduced several improvement techniques to accomplish these goals. This study explores different optimization methods and introduces a hybrid algorithm, to further reduce area and power consumption while incorporating Built-In Self-Test architecture for effective circuit testing. Experimental evaluations were carried out using Xilinx Vivado and Microwind tools.

Estimation of attraction domain of nonlinear systems with saturated impulses and input disturbances

In this article, the estimation of attraction domain of nonlinear systems with saturated impulses and input disturbances is investigated. The sufficient conditions which can ensure the robust convergence of a class of nonlinear dynamical systems for every initial condition in the attraction domain are established. Moreover, some optimization problems are proposed to design the control gain so as to enlarge the size of the estimation of attraction domain as much as possible with a prespecified decay rate. In addition, the exponential stabilization and the estimation of attraction domain for nonlinear dynamical systems under this saturated impulsive control without disturbances are also studied. Finally, simulation results for a chaotic oscillator are displayed to show the effectiveness and feasibility of our results.

Neuromorphic devices have garnered significant attention for their potential to revolutionize conventional computing architecture and drive advancements in artificial neural systems. Aluminum nitride-based (AlNbased) memristors have emerged as particularly noteworthy due to their exceptional properties, including ultrafast switching speed, small switching current, substantial on/off ratio, controllable material growth, and compatibility with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) processes. These remarkable characteristics hold immense significance in the fabrication of novel neuromorphic devices, specifically for artificial synapses. However, the commonly observed abrupt resistive switching behavior in AlN-based memristors poses a challenge to the recognition accuracy of artificial neural networks (ANNs) at the system level. Thus, achieving a gradual switching behavior with multi-level conductance becomes highly desirable for artificial synapses. Here, an interfacial engineering approach is introduced to optimize the Ag/AlN/Pt memristor by incorporating an aluminum scandium nitride (AlScN) layer within the AlN layer. The tri-layer AlN/AlScN/AlN stacked memristor (ASAM) demonstrates a notable achievement of gradual switching behavior at the RESET operation, attributed to the alleviation of abrupt conductive filament formation resulting from the ferroelectric polarization effect of the AlScN layer. Additionally, the ASAM shows excellent resistive switching performance with ultrafast switching speed (<5 ns), low operation voltage (<0.5 V), and ultralow power consumption as small as 0.2 pJ. By appropriately adjusting the current compliance and resetting stop voltage, the ASAM exhibits remarkable characteristics of controlled gradual switching and multi-level conductance. Fixed-Point Maximum Total Complex Correntropy Algorithm for Adaptive Filter

Adaptive filtering for complex-valued data plays a key role in the field of signal processing. So far, there has been very little research for the adaptive filtering in complex-valued errors-in-variables (EIV) model. Compared with the complex correntropy, the total complex correntropy has shown superior performance in the EIV model. However, the current gradient based maximum total complex correntropy (MTCC) adaptive filtering algorithm has suffered from the tradeoff between fast convergence rate and low weight error power. In order to improve the performance of MTCC, we develop a fixed point maximum total complex correntropy (FP-MTCC) adaptive filtering algorithm in this study. The convergence analysis of the FP-MTCC is also provided in the paper. Furthermore, we develop two recursive FP-MTCC (RFP-MTCC) algorithms for the online adaptive filtering and provide the transient analysis of RFP-MTCC. Finally, the validity of the convergence and the superiority of the proposed algorithms are verified by simulations.

A proximal neurodynamic model for solving inverse mixed variational inequalities

This paper proposes a proximal neurodynamic model (PNDM) for solving inverse mixed variational inequalities (IMVIs) based on the proximal operator. It is shown that the PNDM has a unique continuous solution under the condition of Lipschitz continuity (L-continuity). It is also shown that the equilibrium point of the proposed PNDM is asymptotically stable or exponentially stable under some mild conditions. Finally, three numerical examples are presented to illustrate effectiveness of the proposed PNDM. (c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
