This paper investigates a distributed optimization problem over a multiagent network, in which the target of agents is to collaboratively optimize the sum of all local objective functions. The case discusses that the network topology among agents is described by a strongly connected directed graph. The proposed algorithm utilizes row-stochastic weight matrices and uncoordinated step sizes. Under conditions that the objective functions are strong convex, and have Lipschitz continuous gradients, we manifest that proposed algorithm faster linearly converges to the global optimization solution than other algorithms as long as the chosen step sizes do not exceed an exact characterized upper bound. Numerical experiments are also provided to testify the theoretical analysis.

The design and simulation of a multifunctional logic device based on plasmon-induced transparency using two semicircular resonators

A novel optical logic device based on plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) effect is designed. It is composed of two semicircular resonators coupled with the metal-insulator-metal (MIM) waveg-uide. By monitoring the different wavelengths, six logic operations (AND, OR, NAND, NOR, XOR, and XNOR) can be achieved simultaneously in the proposed structure. The performance of the device is analyzed by temporal coupled-mode theory and finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Moreover, the influence of structure parameters on device performance such as the radius of semicircular resonator, the coupling distance between two semicircular resonators, and the coupling distance between waveguide and semicircular resonator are discussed in detail. The proposed device that can implement six logic operations greatly improves the integration of photonic integrated circuits (PIC), and it has the potential to provide new idea for designing of optical logic device on-chip.

Kernel least mean square based on the Nystrom method (NysKLMS) has been proposed to fix the network structure of kernel least mean square (KLMS) by approximating a large Gram matrix with a low-rank matrix generated by sampling from input vectors. However, the computational burden of NysKLMS increases with the growth of the input dimension. To alleviate this computational burden, a novel KLMS based on a sparse Nystrom method (SNKLMS) algorithm is proposed in this paper. Unlike NysKLMS using the k-means sampling to obtain k centroids from input data, the proposed SNKLMS algorithm first divides input data into several clusters, and then selects k centroids from the obtained clusters equally. According to the relation between the Gaussian kernel and the distance of different clusters, partial submatrices in the low-rank matrix of SNKLMS can be omitted to further reduce the operations of multiplication and addition, and thus a sparse low-rank matrix is obtained. Simulations on the channel equalization and chaotic time-series prediction validate the superiorities of SNKLMS.

Accelerated Convergence Algorithm for Distributed Constrained Optimization under Time-Varying General Directed Graphs

This paper studies a class of distributed convex optimization problems by a set of agents in which each agent only has access to its own local convex objective function and the estimate of each agent is restricted to both coupling linear constraint and individual box constraints. Our focus is to devise a distributed primal-dual gradient algorithm for working out the problem over a sequence of time-varying general directed graphs. The communications among agents are assumed to be uniformly strongly connected. A column-stochastic mixing matrix and a fixed step-size are applied in the algorithm which exactly steers all the agents to asymptotically converge to a global optimal solution. Based on the standard strong convexity and the smoothness assumptions of the objective functions, we show that the distributed algorithm is capable of driving the whole network to geometrically converge to an optimal solution of the convex optimization problem only if the step-size does not exceed some upper bound. We also give an explicit analysis for the convergence rate of the proposed optimization algorithm. Simulations on economic dispatch problems and demand response problems in power systems are performed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed optimization algorithm.

Proximity sensing technology, which can obtain information without physical contact, has become an ideal choice in scenarios where physical contact is not feasible. Despite substantial advancements in tactile sensing, proximity sensing technology still holds great potential and has yet to be fully developed. Among numerous proximity sensing technologies, the fringing-effect-based capacitive proximity sensor (FE-CPS) has garnered considerable attention due to its low cost, low power consumption, wide sensing range, and flexible and versatile structural design. However, research on FE-CPS has not yet formed a complete system, and its development and intellectualization are still in their infancy, urgently requiring a systematic review to advance its development. This paper systematically summarizes the recent advances in FE-CPS, from basic theory to practical applications. The working principle and typical structure of FE-CPS are first introduced, followed by a discussion of methods for optimizing device performance. Furthermore, the application scenarios of FE-CPS in intelligent pre-alarm systems, intelligent control systems, and intelligent material perception systems are reviewed. Finally, the future development and challenges faced by FE-CPS are prospected. Summarizing the importance of fringing-effect-based capacitive proximity sensors (FE-CPS) for overcoming current development bottlenecks and achieving higher levels of intelligence is crucial. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the typical structures and optimization strategies for constructing FE-CPS, and reviews the latest research advance in advanced application scenarios. image

Solving PEV Charging Strategies with an Asynchronous Distributed Generalized Nash Game Algorithm in Energy Management System

As plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) become more and more popular, there is a growing interest in the management of their charging power. Many models exist nowadays to manage the charging of plug-in electric vehicles, and it is important that these models are implemented in a better way. This paper investigates a price-driven charging management model in which all plug-in electric vehicles are informed of the charging strategies of neighboring plug-in electric vehicles and adjust their own strategies to minimize the cost, while an aggregator determines the unit price based on overall electricity consumption to coordinate the charging strategies of the plug-in electric vehicles. In this article, we used an asynchronous distributed generalized Nash game algorithm to investigate a charging management model for plug-in electric vehicles in a smart charging station (SCS). In a charging management model, we need to consider constraints on the charge and discharge rates of plug-in electric vehicles, the battery capacity, the amount of charge per plug-in electric vehicle, and the maximum electrical load that the whole system can allow. Meeting the constraints of plug-in electric vehicles and smart charging stations, the model coordinates the charging strategy of each plug-in electric vehicle to ultimately reduce the cost of smart charging stations, which is the cost that the smart charging station should pay to the higher-level power supply facility. To the best of our knowledge, this algorithm used in this paper has not been used to solve this model, and it has better performance than the generalized Nash equilibria (GNE) seeking algorithm originally used for this model, which is called a fast alternating direction multiplier method (Fast-ADMM). In the simulation results, the asynchronous algorithm we used showed a correlation error of 0.0076 at the 713th iteration, compared to 0.0087 for the synchronous algorithm used for comparison, and the cost of the smart charging stat

Distributed neurodynamic algorithms for collaborative energy management in energy internet considering time-varying factors

This paper investigates the energy management problem of the energy Internet under time-varying conditions. In the context of coupled multi-energy networks, the energy Internet is considered to be composed of multiple energy bodies and requires collaborative planning of multiple energy networks. A model for distributed energy management with a non-smooth cost function and line congestion constraints is proposed, with the goal of reducing overall operating costs and improving customer benefits while considering load as a time-varying factor. Then, a neurodynamic time-varying algorithm for addressing the energy management problem executed in a fully distributed manner is proposed. On the one hand, the predictive effect of the differential feedback term is exploited and embedded in the implementation of the proposed algorithm, thus speeding up the convergence. On the other hand, the algorithm is executed in a distributed manner, and only limited information is exchanged among the agents to complete the optimal operation locally, thus reducing the communication burden and ensuring privacy and robustness. Finally, theoretical proofs guarantee the stability of the proposed algorithm, and simulation experiments illustrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed algorithm.

A Novel Multi-Functional Plasmonic Logic Device by Angle Manipulation

Optical logic devices are indispensable for optical computing and data processing. In order to acquire high performance optical logic device, a novel plasmonic structure based on plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) effect is proposed. It can implement multiple logic functions simultaneously with high output contrast ratios between "0" and "1" states through a new manipulation method of angle rotation. The optical logic device consists of dual identical hexagonal resonators with rotatable ellipses embedded in resonators and two parallel metal-insulator-metal (MIM) waveguides. The specific rotation angles of ellipses are defined as the input logic states. In addition, according to the transmissions at output ports, the thresholds are set to distinguish the output logic states. Ultimately, four kinds of logic functions: AND, NAND, NOR and NOT can be implemented with fairly high output contrast ratios in this compact device. Most importantly, among these logic functions, AND, NAND, and NOR can be operated simultaneously with wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technique. Therefore, this work supplies a potential application for optical logic integrated circuits.

Compact modeling of short-channel effects in back-gated 2D negative capacitance (NC) FETs

The negative capacitance field-effect transistor with 2D channel material (2D NC-FET) holds significant promise for low-power applications owing to its remarkable resilience against short-channel effects (SCEs) and favorable noise characteristics. In this study, we establish a compact current-voltage (I-V) model for short-channel back-gated 2D NC-FETs with metal-ferroelectric-metal-insulator-semiconductor structure by self-consistently solving the two-dimensional Poisson, drift-diffusion and Landau-Khalatnikov equations. The proposed model is valid and continuous throughout the entire operating regime, including the fully-depleted region, partly-depleted region, and accumulation region. Furthermore, we derive analytical equations for the threshold voltage ( VTH ) and subthreshold swing ( SS ) of back-gated 2D NC-FETs based on the developed I-V model. Lastly, we elucidate the influence mechanisms of various device parameters and voltage bias on the subthreshold characteristics of short-channel back-gated 2D NC-FETs using the proposed I-V model in conjunction with analytical expressions of VTH and SS . Our findings reveal that back-gated 2D NC-FETs shows unconventional degradation behavior in VTH and SS, resulting from the competition between traditional SCEs and novel negative capacitance effects.

The high voltage-high humidity-high temperature reverse bias (HV-H3TRB) test was utilized to evaluate the reliability of silicon carbide insulated gate bipolar transistors (SiC IGBTs). Moisture invasion often induces termination/passivation and metal corrosion. Therefore, the HV-H3TRB test is generally used to assess termination / passivation robustness. However, under the HV-H3TRB test conditions, gate quality degradation may occur. In this study, the dominant degradation mechanism of SiC IGBTs was investigated. The changes of the most sensitive static characteristics (e.g., threshold voltage, breakdown voltage, and leakage current) were recorded. The threshold voltage decreased and leakage current increased substantially after > 1000 h of HV-H3TRB tests under 85 celcius/85% RH climate conditions. Capacitance-voltage (C-V) curve measurements indicated that the mobile ions at the SiC/SiO2 interface or in the gate oxide likely caused the threshold-voltage instability in the SiC IGBTs after the HV-H3TRB tests. This instability can be recovered by applying a negative gate bias. Subsequent failure analysis confirmed no corrosion of metals or termination/passivation in the device, which indicates the robustness of the passivation (consisting of phosphor-silicate glass and Si3N4). Therefore, the gate quality appears to be a significant reliability risk for SiC IGBTs under high humidity, high temperature, and high voltage conditions.
