Converting the unordered wrinkles generated on a bilayer film into controllable strain microstructures is a focal point of research. However, many existing methods are hindered by their inability to achieve microscale stress fields that align with the designed structure, consequently limiting the manufacturing of desirable microstructures. In recent years, laser-induced strain micro/nanostructure fabrication has emerged as a promising technique due to its advantages, including simple processing, cost-effectiveness, high efficiency, and large-area fabrication. Nevertheless, this technique is limited to fabricating specific periodic structures, thereby constraining its manufacturing capacities. Here, a novel laser-induced strain strategy assisted by electron beam irradiation is proposed, which successfully eliminates secondary structures and unordered wrinkles, realizing the fabrication of arbitrary micro/nanostructures with consistency between design and fabrication. Furthermore, the generation mechanisms of these strain structures are elucidated by a combination of simulations and experiments. The method transcends the limitations stemming from intrinsic wavelength of wrinkles, enabling the fabrication of isolated strain structures. The diverse structures achieved through the approach demonstrate the designability, controllability, and universality of the novel laser-induced strain strategy, establishing it as a reliable method for surface micro/nanostructure fabrication.

Distributed Neuro-Dynamic Optimization for Multi-Objective Power Management Problem in Micro-Grid

This paper focuses on a multi-objective power management problem considering demand response in micro grid. The multi-objective problem consists of four conflicting objective functions: the average efficiency function of DG (Diesel Generation) unit, the emission of micro-grid, the dissatisfaction caused by demand response and the total profit function. A single-objective product formulation is applied to convert the multi-objective optimization problem into a single-objective optimization problem. It is shown that the optimal solution of single-objective problem is a pareto optimal point of the original multi-objective problem. Then, using a logarithmic obstacle penalty parameter to deal with the inequality constraint, a distributed neuro-dynamic algorithm is proposed for the aforementioned single-objective optimization problem. Lasalle's invariance principle and Lyapunov function are used to prove that the proposed algorithm can converge to the optimal solution. Finally, the numerical simulation in the micro-grid illustrates the feasibility of the proposed algorithm. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

dFixed-time consensus of complex dynamical networks with nonlinear coupling and fuzzy state-dependent uncertainties

In this paper, the fixed-time consensus problem for complex dynamical networks with nonlinear coupling and fuzzy state-dependent uncertainties is discussed. Different from most existing publications, the controller is designed as a fuzzy logic system, which is applicable for complex dynamical networks with system uncertainties and unknown topology to ensure the fixed-time consensus. Furthermore, compared with the initial-condition based finite-time consensus, the settling time is bounded by a constant within fixed-time regardless of the initial condition. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory and inequality techniques, some sufficient criteria for fixed-time consensus are obtained. Finally, two numerical examples are granted to display the performance of the obtained results. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

In this study, the vibrational modes of nitrofurantoin, urea, and cocrystal were characterized by terahertz time domain spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The results indicate that both terahertz and Raman spectroscopy can effectively identify cocrystal and parent materials, with terahertz spectroscopy being more prominent. Meanwhile, the vibrational modes and structural optimization of four theoretical cocrystal configurations of the two drugs were simulated by density functional theory (DFT). Comparing the theoretical results with the experimental results shows that theoretical configuration D is most consistent with the experimental results. The results provide rich information on the pharmaceutical cocrystal to improve the physicochemical properties and pharmacological activities of specific pharmaceuticals at the molecular level. It shows that terahertz and Raman vibrational spectroscopy combined with DFT calculated is an effective method to analyze weak intermolecular interactions and characterize the molecules with cocrystal.

Different from hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) sheets, the bandgap of hBN nanoribbons (BNNRs) can be changed by spatial/electrostatic confinement. It is predicted that a transverse electric field can narrow the bandgap and even cause an insulator-metal transition in BNNRs. However, experimentally introducing an overhigh electric field across the BNNR remains challenging. Here, it is theoretically and experimentally demonstrated that water adsorption greatly reduces the bandgap of zigzag-oriented BNNRs (zBNNRs). Ab initio calculations show that water molecules can be favorably assembled within the trench between two adjacent BNNRs to form a polar ice layer, which induces a transverse equivalent electric field of over 2 V nm(-1) accounting for the bandgap reduction. Field-effect transistors are successfully fabricated from zBNNRs with different widths. The conductance of water-adsorbed zBNNRs can be tuned over 3 orders in magnitude via modulation of the equivalent electrical field at room temperature. Furthermore, photocurrent response measurements are taken to determine the optical bandgaps of zBNNRs with water adsorption. The zBNNR with increased width can exhibit a bandgap down to 1.17 eV. This study offers fundamental insights into new routes toward realizing electronic/optoelectronic devices and circuits based on hexagonal boron nitride.

Robust distributed estimation based on a generalized correntropy logarithmic difference algorithm over wireless sensor networks

Distributed adaptive learning algorithms have played a critical role in signal processing and parameter estimation over networks. Most existing algorithms are based on the mean-square error (MSE) criterion, and they can achieve desirable performance when the noise is modeled as Gaussian. However, the performance of MSE-based algorithms may degrade dramatically with the impulsive noise. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to present a diffusion algorithm, named generalized correntropy-based logarithmic difference (d-GCLD) algorithm, for distributed estimation that incorporates robustness to wireless sensor networks (WSNs). By combining the logarithm operation and the correntropy criterion as the loss function, the proposed algorithm is robust to impulsive noise and achieves satisfactory performance in various situations. In addition, the stability problem is studied theoretically. Experimental results are given to demonstrate the validity of the new algorithm in different scenarios. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V. Distributed optimal consensus algorithms in multi-agent systems

This paper investigates the distributed optimal consensus problem by designing the multi-agent communication systems, where each agent has local access to its own strongly convex utility function. Here, we design two distributed consensus-based optimization algorithms to tackle the optimization problem of multi-agent systems. One is the second-order optimization consensus algorithm, and another is the third-order algorithm. Moreover, the two algorithms can ensure that all agents achieve consensus at a common state which minimizes the sum of the objective function under the assumption that interaction graph is strongly connected and detailed balanced. For each of the proposed algorithms, it can be found that the equilibrium point of the algorithm is the optimal point and it is proved to be asymptotically stable under given conditions. Finally, the performance of the proposed algorithms are verified by two simulations based on an IEEE 14-bus test system and an IEEE 57-bus test system. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

This paper discusses the problem of the state-dependent impulsive differential equations (SDIDE) with saturation. First, the existence of solution for the system and some sufficient conditions which can be guaranteed every solution intersecting each impulsive surface exactly once are derived. Second, combining with comparison principle and some inequality techniques, we give some local quasi-exponential stability for SDIDE with saturation. Moreover, this paper proposes some succinct results by comparing to those for fixed time impulsive dynamical systems. Finally, some examples with simulations are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our results. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Distributed consensus-based multi-agent convex optimization via gradient tracking technique

This paper considers solving a class of optimization problems over a network of agents, in which the cost function is expressed as the sum of individual objectives of the agents. The underlying communication graph is assumed to be undirected and connected. A distributed algorithm in which agents employ time-varying and heterogeneous step-sizes is proposed by combining consensus of multi-agent systems with gradient tracking technique. The algorithm not only drives the agents' iterates to a global and consensual minimizer but also finds the optimal value of the cost function. When the individual objectives are convex and smooth, we prove that the algorithm converges at a rate of O(1/root t) if the homogeneous step-size does not exceed some upper bound, and it accelerates to O(1/t) if the homogeneous step-size is sufficiently small. When at least one of the individual objectives is strongly convex and all are smooth, we prove that the algorithm converges at a linear rate of O(lambda(t)) with 0 < lambda < 1 even though the step-sizes are time-varying and heterogeneous. Two numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm and to validate the theoretical findings. Dynamic State Estimation of Power Systems by p-Norm nonlinear Kalman Filter

The problem of dynamic state estimation of power systems is relevant to the monitoring of real-time operation of essential power distribution infrastructure. The nonlinear Kalman filter is utilized for dynamic state estimation of power systems based on available measurements from phasor measurement units. However, measurements are corrupted by non-Gaussian noise and exhibit varying levels of sensitivity to outliers, therefore degrading estimation accuracy. This study proposes a robust mixed p-norm square root unscented Kalman filter for state estimation of power systems. Unlike traditional nonlinear Kalman filters which utilize the minimum mean square error criterion, the mixed p-norm square root unscented Kalman filter utilizes a mixed p-norm optimization for weighting the measurement errors to improve robustness against outliers and alleviate the filtering degradation caused by abnormal measurements. The performance of the p-norm square root unscented Kalman filter is demonstrated in the WSCC 3-machine system and the NPCC 48-machine system. Simulation results demonstrate that the p-norm square root unscented Kalman filter achieves superior accuracy than the commonly used nonlinear Kalman filters.
