History based multi-node collaborative localisation in mobile wireless ad hoc networks

In most existing localisation algorithms, increasing the density of anchor nodes is one of the main strategies to improve the localisation accuracy in dense ad hoc wireless networks. In this paper, based on the number of reference nodes, we propose a distributed localisation algorithm, i.e., history based multi-node collaborative localisation algorithm (HMCL), in sparse ad hoc wireless networks. In the proposed HMCL algorithm, we exploit a new motion model to filter the imprecise estimation based on the historical position information of nodes, which can improve the localisation accuracy. Moreover, we utilise different strategies to achieve the localisation of nodes with different priorities measured by the distance between neighbour *** verify through experiment that the proposed algorithm provides higher localisation precision and less energy consumption. Besides, we also analyse the effect of the number of neighbour nodes, node density and moving speed of nodes on localisation precision.

Secrecy Energy Efficiency Optimization for Downlink Two-User OFDMA Networks With SWIPT

Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT), as a promising technology by which mobile devices are designed by both information decoding and energy harvesting at the same time, has recently drawn significant interests. However, in multiuser scenario, a challenging physical layer security issue arises as the confident messages sent to the intended information receivers may be eavesdropped by other receivers. To address this problem, in this paper, secrecy energy efficiency maximization (SEEM) problem is investigated for two-user orthogonal frequency-division multiple access networks with SWIPT. Specifically, a power splitting scheme is adopted for each user, which would split received radio frequency signals into two independent parts for information decoding and energy harvesting, respectively. Taking both the individual secrecy quality of service requirement and the individual harvested energy constraint into consideration, the SEEM problem is formulated as a nonlinear fractional programming problem. Moreover, according to Dinkelbach's method, a power allocation and power splitting (PAPS) algorithm is proposed by solving the equivalent convex optimization problem. Finally, numerical results verify the impact of static circuit power consumption, maximum transmit power, power split ratio, subcarrier bandwidth, and path loss on secrecy energy efficiency of our PAPS algorithm.

A molecularly imprinted sol-gel (MISG)/Au@Ag core-shell NU sensor is proposed for organic vapor detection in an optical fiber-based reflection mode. The compact structure design of the system in the reflection model is promising for practical use as a portable and rapid responsivity sensing probe. Volatile organic acids (OAs) are analogs to biogenetic volatile organic vapors related to specific human diseases. Here, Au@Ag core-shell nanourchins exhibiting branched tips were synthesized and deposited on indium tin oxide (ITO) glass in small dimer and trimmer clusters to generate an enhanced electric field. A MISG solution was then spin-coated on the substrate to fabricate MISG-LSPR sensors, and three types of MISGs were developed for the detection of hexanoic acid, heptanoic acid and octanoic acid. The normalized spectral response indicated selectivity of the MISG-LSPR sensors for the corresponding template OAs. With Native Bayes and linear discriminant analysis of the sensor responses, where the latter were detected by the proposed system, single- and mixed-OA vapors could be classified into separate clusters. This signified that the proposed MISG-LSPR sensor can be applied toward pattern recognition of single vapors or multiple vapor mixtures.

Blood glucose level needs to be monitored regularly to manage the health condition of hyperglycemic patients. The current glucose measurement approaches still rely on invasive techniques which are uncomfortable and raise the risk of infection. To facilitate daily care at home, in this article, we propose an intelligent, noninvasive blood glucose monitoring system which can differentiate a user's blood glucose level into normal, borderline, and warning based on smartphone photoplethysmography (PPG) signals. The main implementation processes of the proposed system include 1) a novel algorithm for acquiring PPG signals using only smartphone camera videos;2) a fitting-based sliding window algorithm to remove varying degrees of baseline drifts and segment the signal into single periods;3) extracting characteristic features from the Gaussian functions by comparing PPG signals at different blood glucose levels;4) categorizing the valid samples into three glucose levels by applying machine learning algorithms. Our proposed system was evaluated on a data set of 80 subjects. Experimental results demonstrate that the system can separate valid signals from invalid ones at an accuracy of 97.54% and the overall accuracy of estimating the blood glucose levels reaches 81.49%. The proposed system provides a reference for the introduction of noninvasive blood glucose technology into daily or clinical applications. This article also indicates that smartphone-based PPG signals have great potential to assess an individual's blood glucose level.

Intriguing “slidetronics” has been reported in van der Waals (vdW) layered non-centrosymmetric materials and newly-emerging artificially-tuned twisted moiré superlattices, but correlative experiments that spatially track the interlayer sliding dynamics at atomic-level remain elusive. Here, we address the decisive challenge to in-situ trace the atomic-level interlayer sliding and the induced polarization reversal in vdW-layered yttrium-doped γ-InSe, step by step and atom by atom. We directly observe the real-time interlayer sliding by a 1/3-unit cell along the armchair direction, corresponding to vertical polarization reversal. The sliding driven only by low energetic electron-beam illumination suggests rather low switching barriers. Additionally, we propose a new sliding mechanism that supports the observed reversal pathway, i.e., two bilayer units slide towards each other simultaneously. Our insights into the polarization reversal via the atomic-scale interlayer sliding provide a momentous initial progress for the ongoing and future research on sliding ferroelectrics towards non-volatile storages or ferroelectric field-effect *** reversal dynamics in sliding ferroelectrics is important for the application in slidetronics. Here, the authors observe the interlayer directional sliding induced polarization switching with simultaneous hysteresis response in γ-InSe:Y.

Recently, electrochemical capacitors (ECs) have attracted consideration as AC line filter capacitors to replace the current aluminum electrolytic capacitors (AECs), which is an important direction of circuit integration miniaturization. In this work, a simple one-step hydrothermal method without additives was used to prepare vertically oriented NiTe2 nanosheets on nickel foam, which provides large surface area and fast charge transport. The NiTe2 ECs exhibit true pseudocapacitive nature, stable rate capability, efficient charge transport and high cyclic stability. In addition, they also deliver a super high specific area capacitance of 846.47 mu F cm(-2) at 120 Hz, while retaining small resistor-capacitor (RC) time constant of 1.01 ms and large negative phase angle of 52.7 degrees, indicating its excellent filtering performance. As expected, the NiTe2 ECs perform evidently better filtering effect than commercial AECs when used as filter capacitors in circuits. From a practical point of view, we applied the NiTe2 filter capacitor to regulate the triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) output, successfully supplying a light-emitting diode (LED) in a steady state. The NiTe2 filter capacitor proposed in this work can be fully used as a large-capacitance, small-size filter capacitor for portable devices and also applied to actual AC line circuits in the future.

intelligent Biological Alarm Clock for Monitoring Autonomic Nervous Recovery During Nap

Nap is an effective way to reduce daily-level fatigue after several hours of work. However, no alarm clock, which intelligently manages the nap duration with good autonomic nervous recovery (ANR) from fatigue, has been reported in literature. In this work, an intelligent biological alarm clock algorithm was designed on the basis of electrocardiogram (ECG) and electroencephalogram (EEG) data acquisition and analysis. ECG data samples were collected from 31 subjects in 278 times of nap experiments and categorized into good, moderate, and poor ANR datasets according to the degree of sympathetic withdrawal and parasympathetic activation during the nap. In practice, the alarm clock automatically classified the new-coming ECG data as good, moderate, or poor ANR with a classifier trained by the abovementioned ANR datasets. A prototype system of the intelligent alarm clock algorithm was implemented and validated in real-scene naps. The prototype system detected falling asleep during the closed-eye naps with a true positive rate of 93.55% and a true negative rate of 100%. (c) 2019 The Authors. Published by Atlantis Press SARL.

Plug-in electric vehicle charging management via a distributed neurodynamic algorithm

In this paper, an innovative electric vehicle (EV) charging scheme is proposed, which is the first time to take into full account three charging modes in one framework, i.e. slow charging, quick charging and battery swapping. The aim is to minimize the charging cost to achieve valley filling effect. Furthermore, in order to address the proposed charging scheme effectively a distributed neurodynamic algorithm is proposed to achieve an intelligent and optimal strategy. Compared with the centralized method, the distributed algorithm can better satisfy the requirement of EV charging environment in a distributed manner. In the simulation study, the effectiveness and convergence of our proposed algorithm are verified by case studies. In addition, the rationality and superiority of our proposed scheme and algorithm are also further validates by theoretical analysis. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we consider a microgrid framework consisting of four power generation units, such as gas turbine, fuel cell, diesel generator and photovoltaic power generation. We focus on the minimum power generation cost under the lowest environmental pollution, combining with particle swarm optimization (PSO) and projection neural network. In this framework, we consider the two objectives simultaneously, both economic cost and pollution emission. The projection neural network is used to find the local optimal value, and then the PSO algorithm is used to update the weight to increase the solution diversify and seek global optimization. The convergence and stability of the projection neural network algorithm are reflected in the simulation.

Performing linear convergence for distributed constrained optimisation over time-varying directed unbalanced networks

The problem of distributed constrained optimisation over a network of agents, where the goal is to cooperatively minimise the sum of all local convex objective functions is studied. Each agent in the network possesses only its private local convex objective function and is constrained to a coupling equality constraint and its local inequality constraint. Moreover, the authors particularly focus on the scenario where each agent is only allowed to interact with their in-neighbours over a series of time-varying directed unbalanced networks. To collectively address the optimisation problem, a novel distributed primal-dual push-DIGing (integrated push-sum strategy with distributed inexact gradient tracking method) algorithm (termed as DPD-PD) in which agents employ uncoordinated step-sizes is proposed. Unlike other methods, DPD-PD allows not only the mixing matrices are column-stochastic, but also the step-sizes are uncoordinated. An important feature of DPD-PD is handling distributed constrained optimisation problems in the case of time-varying directed unbalanced networks. When objective functions are strongly convex and smooth, the authors demonstrate that DPD-PD converges linearly to the optimal solution given that the uncoordinated step-sizes are smaller than an upper bound. Explicit convergence rate is also conducted. Preliminary results on some numerical experiments validate the theoretical findings.
