Finite-time event-triggered synchronization for reaction-diffusion complex networks

In this paper, we investigate the finite-time event-triggered synchronization problem of the reaction-diffusion complex networks (RDCNs) with Dirichlet boundary conditions. A novel nonlinear event-triggered controller is developed, which is based on the random sampled-data. Under the proposed controller, it is found that the Zeno behavior is naturally excluded and the finite-time synchronization of RDCNs is guaranteed. Moreover, by utilizing Lyapunov functional method and the inequality techniques, the finite-time synchronization condition of the RDCNs is derived as well as the finite time is calculated. Finally, numerical simulation results are provided to demonstrate the theoretical results. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Homologous protein search is one of the most commonly used methods for protein annotation and analysis. Compared to structure search, detecting distant evolutionary relationships from sequences alone remains challenging. Here we propose PLMSearch (Protein Language Model), a homologous protein search method with only sequences as input. PLMSearch uses deep representations from a pre-trained protein language model and trains the similarity prediction model with a large number of real structure similarity. This enables PLMSearch to capture the remote homology information concealed behind the sequences. Extensive experimental results show that PLMSearch can search millions of query-target protein pairs in seconds like MMseqs2 while increasing the sensitivity by more than threefold, and is comparable to state-of-the-art structure search methods. In particular, unlike traditional sequence search methods, PLMSearch can recall most remote homology pairs with dissimilar sequences but similar structures. PLMSearch is freely available at https://***/PLMSearch. Homologous protein search is one of the most commonly used methods for protein analysis. Here, authors propose PLMSearch, a search method that takes only sequences as input and can search millions of protein pairs in seconds while maintaining sensitivity comparable to SOTA structure search methods.

However, it remains controversial whether a crystalline 1T '\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$${T}<^>{{\prime} }$$\end{document} phase is produced because optical signatures of this putative transition are found to be associated with the formation of tellurium clusters instead. Here we demonstrate the creation of an intrinsic 1T '\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$${T}<^>{{\prime} }$$\end{document} lattice after irradiating a mono- or few-layer 2H-MoTe2 with a single field-enhanced terahertz pulse. Unlike optical pulses, the low terahertz photon energy limits possible structural damages. We further develop a single-shot terahertz-pump-second-harmonic-probe technique and reveal a transition out of the 2H-phase within 10 ns after photoexcitation. Our results not only provide important insights to resolve the long-standing debate over the light-induced polymorphic transition in MoTe2 but also highlight the unique capability of strong-field terahertz pulses in manipulating quantum materials. The goal of this paper is to investigote the error estimates of the fininte volume element approximation of optimal control problems governed by nonlinear hyperbolic equations. By using optimize-then-discretize, variational discretization and the finite volume method to solve the distributed optimal control problems. A semi-discrete optimal system is obtained. Meanwhile, we obtain the optimal order error estimates in L-infinity(J;L-2) and L-infinity(J;H-1)-norm.

Electric generators consume most of the world's fossil energy in power plant. In power plants, better solving unit commitment problem (UCP) means saving more fossil energy. Nowadays, most of the algorithms to solve the UCP cannot get good results, so it is necessary to study more efficient algorithms. Towards this end, this paper presents a novel algorithm to solve UCP. The proposed algorithm combines particle swarm optimization and simulated annealing algorithm to solve UCP better. At the same time, a convex optimization algorithm is proposed to solve the corresponding economic load distribution problem. We have done a lot of experiments to prove the advantage of this algorithm, which can solve UCP efficiently.

Designing full-color spherical artificial eyes remains a challenge. Here, Long et al. report a bionic eye where each pixel on the hemispherical retina can recognize different colors based on the unique bidirectional photo response;with optical adaptivity and neuromorphic preprocessing ability Spherical geometry, adaptive optics, and highly dense network of neurons bridging the eye with the visual cortex, are the primary features of human eyes which enable wide field-of-view (FoV), low aberration, excellent adaptivity, and preprocessing of perceived visual information. Therefore, fabricating spherical artificial eyes has garnered enormous scientific interest. However, fusing color vision, in-device preprocessing and optical adaptivity into spherical artificial eyes has always been a tremendous challenge. Herein, we demonstrate a bionic eye comprising tunable liquid crystal optics, and a hemispherical neuromorphic retina with filter-free color vision, enabled by wavelength dependent bidirectional synaptic photo-response in a metal-oxide nanotube/perovskite nanowire hybrid structure. Moreover, by tuning the color selectivity with bias, the device can reconstruct full color images. This work demonstrates a unique approach to address the color vision and optical adaptivity issues associated with artificial eyes that can bring them to a new level approaching their biological counterparts.

Event-triggered gradient-based distributed optimisation for multi-agent systems with state consensus constraint

This study focuses on the event-triggered gradient-based algorithm for a distributed optimisation problem of multi-agent system subject to state consensus constraint over directed networks, where each agent has local access to its own strongly convex utility function. A novel gradient-based optimisation consensus algorithm is proposed to solve the optimisation consensus problem, where the event-triggered strategy based on sample-data is employed. In contrast to previous optimisation consensus work, their algorithm guarantees that the equilibrium point of the multi-agent systems is optimal solution, and it uses the constant step-size in the optimisation term. Under the algorithm, it can be proved that there exists a certain vector established with the optimal solution is the system equilibrium point and also the consensus point. Moreover, the sufficient condition on optimisation consensus for multi-agent systems is derived. Finally, a numerical simulation example is given to illustrate the theoretical analysis.

This paper addresses the problem of global exponential stability for a class of memristive Cohen-Grossberg with mixed time delays and impulsive time window. Based on the memristor theory, impulse control theory, and mathematical induction method, stability criteria for the considered memristive Cohen-Grossberg neural networks are derived by employing appropriate Lyapunov functions. Compared with existing impulse control schemes, the impulse instants are extended to some bounded time intervals, we will show that the neural networks can still be stable under reasonable assumptions. Furthermore, the conditions obtained in this paper are easy to be checked, and they can be applied to improve previous results concerning stability for memristive neural networks. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Intensity of voxels is a very effective feature, different neurons in human auditory cortex (HAC) are frequency-selective, but whether voxels intensity of HAC whose neurons are frequency-selective could be used as a feature to distinguish different pure sound frequency remains unclear. In order to explore this problem, we analyzed the difference between low frequency (200Hz) and high frequency (6400Hz) of pure tone by the voxels intensity of HAC. The support vector machine (SVM) were used for binary classification, and the correct recognition rate of low frequency and high frequency were 81.82% and 68.18%, respectively. Therefore, we can conclude that the voxels intensity of HAC could be used as a feature to distinguish different pure sound frequency and the frequency preferences of neurons are robust enough to distinguish different pure sound. Our study may be beneficial to the study of brain-computer interface (BCI) and pure tone audiometry (PTA).

Finite-time stability of inelastic ball bouncing between two rigidly connected harmonic limiters

This paper formulates the bouncing ball system in gravitational field, where a ball bounces between two rigidly connected harmonic limiters, by the impulsive differential equations with state constraints. By an extended Lyapunov-like stability theory for impulsive systems, we obtain the sufficient conditions guaranteeing the ball will stay on the lower limiter after a finite time but maybe an infinite number of impacts. The upper bound of the finite time is also estimated by theoretical analysis. Some numerical simulations are given to verify the theoretical validity.
