Kernel Adaptive Filtrs With Feedback Based on Maximum Correntropy

This paper presents novel kernel adaptive filters with feedback, namely, kernel recursive maximum correntropy with multiple feedback (KRMC-MF) and its simplified version, a linear recurrent kernel online learning algorithm based on maximum correntropy criterion (LRKOL-MCC). In LRKOL-MCC and KRMC-MF, single output and multiple outputs based on single delay are utilized to construct their feedback structure, respectively. Compared with the minimum mean square error criterion, the maximum correntropy criterion (MCC) adopted by LRKOL-MCC and KRMC-MF captures higher order statistics of errors. The proposed filters are, therefore, robust against outliers. Therefore, the past information can be reused to improve filtering performance in terms of the steady-state mean square error. The convergence characteristics of the filter parameters in LRKOL-MCC and KRMC-MF are also derived. Simulations on chaotic time-series prediction and nonlinear regression illustrate the desirable accuracy and robustness of the proposed filters.

Under Gaussian assumption, online sequential extreme learning machine (OS-ELM) can achieve optimal performance. However, OS-ELM is based on the mean square error (MSE) criterion which is not a good choice for non-Gaussian signals. In this paper, a novel OS-ELM algorithm based on the generalized maximum correntropy criterion (OS-ELM-GMCC) is derived. Since the maximum correntropy criterion (MCC) can be generalized by the generalized maximum correntropy criterion (GMCC), the GMCC-based adaptive filtering algorithms with an appropriate shape parameter achieve better filtering performance than the MCC-based ones in the presence of non-Gaussian noise. As the important parameters, the number of hidden node, the shape parameter and scale parameter are discussed by simulations. Simulations in the context of the two examples including the system identification and Mackey-Glass (MG) chaotic time series demonstrate the superiority of OS-ELM-GMCC over OS-ELM and OS-ELM-MC.

This paper presents a novel kernel least square algorithm with mixed kernel (KLMS-MK) to improve the filtering performance of kernel least mean square (KLMS). By applying the convex combination method to the kernel function in KLMS, KLMS-MK bears the advantages of both the Gaussian kernel and the Laplace kernel. In KLMS-MK, the mixed parameter for the convex combination is updated with the stochastic gradient descent. Therefore, the steady-state mean square error (MSE) and the convergence rate are improved by KLMS-MK, simultaneously. Simulation results on chaotic time series prediction and nonlinear regression validate the excellent performance of KLMS-MK from the aspects of the convergence rate and estimation accuracy.

Input-to-state stability of impulsive inertial memristive neural networks with time-varying delayed

The property of input-to-state stability (ISS) of inertial memristor-based neural networks with impulsive effects is studied. Firstly, according to the characteristics of memristor and inertial neural networks, the inertial memristor-based neural networks are built. Secondly, based on the impulsive control theory, the average impulsive interval approach, Halanay differential inequality, Lyapunov method and comparison property, some sufficient conditions ensuring ISS of the inertial memristor-based neural networks under impulsive controller are derived. In this paper, we consider two types of impulse, stabilizing impulses and destabilizing impulses. When the inertial memristor-based neural networks are originally not ISS, by choosing a suitable lower bound of the average impulsive interval, the stabilizing impulses can be used to stabilize the inertial memristor-based neural networks. On the contrary, the inertial memristor-based neural networks are originally ISS, by restricting the upper bound of the average impulsive interval, the ISS of inertial memristor-based neural networks with destabilizing impulses can be ensured. Analog circuits for solving a class of variational inequality problems

In this paper, we present the analog circuits to solve a class of variational inequality problems (VIPs) based on the projection neural network (PNN) and inertial projection neural network (IPNN) algorithms. The proposed circuits are normative and only require basic circuit elements. The optimal solutions of VIPs are equivalent to the stable output voltages of the associated circuits. This paper also shows how to design analog circuits with projection operators (box constrains set and sphere constrains set) on the basis of PNN and IPNN algorithms. As a result, a class of variational inequality problems can be solved by proposed circuit frameworks. The effectiveness and superiority (with less computing time) of the proposed analog circuits are expound by simulating on three examples. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Period-adding bifurcation and chaos in a hybrid Hindmarsh-Rose model

Recently, the hybrid neuron models which combine the basic neuron models with impulsive effect(the state reset process) had been proposed, however, the preset value and the reset value of membrane potential were both fixed constants in the known models. In this paper, the Hindmarsh-Rose neuron model with nonlinear reset process is presented where the preset value and the reset value of membrane potential are variable constants. We conduct a qualitative analysis in the vicinity of the equilibrium point or the limit cycle of the proposed system by using the theories of impulsive semi-dynamical systems. Firstly, the more detailed impulsive set and phase set are given, then using the fixed point of Poincare map, the existences of order-1and order-k (k >= 2) period solutions are investigated subsequently. Furthermore, numerical investigations including period-adding bifurcation, multiple attractors coexistence, switch-like behavior are presented to further describe the bifurcation and chaos phenomena. Finally, the obtained results and possible applications of the proposed model are elaborated. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Tunable Plasmon-Induced Transparency in Dual Hexagonal Resonators With Rotatable Embedded Bar

In this paper, tunable plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) is achieved in a novel and compact plasmonic system which consists of dual hexagonal resonators with rotatable rectangular bar embedded in resonators and a metal-insulator-metal (MIM) waveguide. The proposed structure is numerically investigated by finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The numerical simulation results reveal that by rotating the embedded bar to different angles, PIT can realize in different wavelengths. Tunability in transparency peak wavelength, transmission, and optical delay are also obtained when the angle of embedded bars are changed. In addition, the influences of other structural parameters on transmission and optical delay are analyzed in detail. This proposed structure may provide a novel manipulation for tunable PIT and potentially be applied in highly integrated optical storage and switch devices.

Ferroelectrics are essential in memory devices for multi-bit storage and high-density integration. Ferroelectricity mainly exists in compounds but rare in single-element materials due to their lack of spontaneous polarization in the latter. However, we report a room-temperature ferroelectricity in quasi-one-dimensional Te nanowires. Piezoelectric characteristics, ferroelectric loops and domain reversals are clearly observed. We attribute the ferroelectricity to the ion displacement created by the interlayer interaction between lone-pair electrons. Ferroelectric polarization can induce a strong field effect on the transport along the Te chain, giving rise to a self-gated ferroelectric field-effect transistor. By utilizing ferroelectric Te nanowire as channel, the device exhibits high mobility (similar to 220 cm(2)center dot V-1 center dot s(-1)), continuous-variable resistive states can be observed with long-term retention (>10(5) s), fast speed (<20 ns) and high-density storage (>1.92 TB/cm(2)). Our work provides opportunities for single-element ferroelectrics and advances practical applications such as ultrahigh-density data storage and computing-in-memory devices.

Event-driven optimal control for uncertain nonlinear systems with external disturbance via adaptive dynamic programming

This paper investigates the optimal control of uncertain nonlinear systems with external disturbance via adaptive dynamic programming, where two kinds of controllers are introduced and event-driven strategy is used to update the controllers as well as the network weights. One controller is constrained-input, and another is used to offset the external disturbance. Three kinds of neural networks (identifier network, critic network and actor network) are used to approximate the uncertain dynamics, the optimal value, control inputs and external disturbance, respectively. To the best knowledge of the authors, the advantage of this paper is that almost all the existing systems about optimal control via adaptive dynamic programming can be considered as special cases of this system, where the external disturbance is considered. By designing appropriate parameters, the uncertain nonlinear system is asymptotically stable with the event-driven controller. And, under the given learning rates of neural networks, the system state and the estimation error of neural networks are proved to be uniform ultimate boundedness (UUB) via adaptive dynamic programming. Stability Analysis of TS Fuzzy System with State-Dependent Impulses

This paper investigates the stability of TS fuzzy system via state-dependent impulsive control. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, comparison theorem, and inequality techniques, the sufficient conditions with theoretical demonstration ensuring every solution of concerned models intersect each surface of the discontinuity exactly once are derived. Moreover, by applying B-equivalence method, the state-dependent impulsive TS fuzzy system can be reduced to the fixed-time impulsive ones, which can be analyzed via comparison method and mathematical induction. The control approach guarantees that the proposed state-dependent impulsive TS fuzzy system converge to zero. Finally, two numerical examples are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.
