This paper considers the secrecy outage performance of a multiple-relay assisted non-orthogonal multiple access (NO-MA) network over Rayleigh fading channels. Two slots are utilized to transmit signals from the base station to destination. In the first slot, the base station broadcasts the superposition signal of two users to all decode-and-forward relays by message mapping strategy. Then the selected relay transmits superposition signal to the two users via power-domain NOMA. Two relay selection (RS) schemes, i.e., optimal single relay selection (OSRS) scheme and two-step single relay selection (TSRS) scheme, are proposed. As a benchmark, we also examine the secrecy outage performance of the traditional multiple relays combining (TMRC) scheme. The closed form expressions for the security outage probability (SOP) of the proposed schemes are derived and validated via simulations. To get more insights, we also derive the closed-form expressions for the asymptotic SOP for all the schemes with fixed and dynamic power allocations. Monte-Carlo simulations are performed to verify our analytical results.

Spintronic memristor synapse and its RWC learning algorithm

As one of the most widely used memristor models, the spintronic memristor has become a promising candidate for the electronic synapse. Non-volatility, nanoscale geometries, binary data and multi-level information storage make the circuit simpler and consume less electricity. In this study, a new spintronic memristor synaptic circuit is proposed which can realise positive, zero and negative weights successfully. Furthermore, the circuits of the presented synaptic-based neuron and compact neural network are designed and an improved random weight change (RWC) algorithm is proposed. Compared with the traditional RWC algorithm, it has faster training speed and less training error. In addition, the neural network is applied to data prediction, the result of which is closer to real data. Finally, the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed network are verified via a series of computer simulations.

Broken-motifs diffusion LMS algorithm for reducing communication load

This paper considers the diffusion LMS (DLMS) algorithm over wireless sensor network with motifs. Network motifs are local structural patterns which are quite common in wireless sensor network. In this paper, it is found that the estimation performance of DLMS algorithm has regular changes with the varying of motifs. This result supplies some guidelines on how to choose network with optimized estimation performance. Accordingly, a broken-motifs diffusion LMS algorithm (BM-DLMS) is proposed in which only a subset of edges are participated in communications per iteration. Simulations present that the BM-DLMS algorithm efficiently reduces the communication load with less performance degradation compared with other selection algorithms.

Tracking control with event-triggered strategy for multi-agent systems with noises

This paper is concerned with a tracking control problem of multi-agent systems with noises. It is assumed that each agent in the network updates its state only at some discrete time instants, which determined by the event-triggered condition, and the agents are affected by noises. In order to attenuate the effect of noises, consensus-gain function is introduced in the control protocol. Centralized and decentralized event-triggered protocols are proposed to ensure that the followers track the considered leader. With the help of matrix theory and Lyapunov method, sufficient conditions are derived to solve the mean square tracking control. Simulation results are provided to illustrate the theoretical results.

Event-Triggered Communication and Data Rate Constraint for Distributed Optimization of Multiagent Systems

This paper is concerned with solving a large category of convex optimization problems using a group of agents, each only being accessible to its individual convex cost function. The optimization problems are modeled as minimizing the sum of all the agents' cost functions. The communication process between agents is described by a sequence of time-varying yet balanced directed graphs which are assumed to be uniformly strongly connected. Taking into account the fact that the communication channel bandwidth is limited, for each agent we introduce a vector-valued quantizer with finite quantization levels to preprocess the information to be exchanged. We exploit an event-triggered broadcasting technique to guide information exchange, further reducing the communication cost of the network. By jointly designing the dynamic event-triggered encoding-decoding schemes and the event-triggered sampling rules (to analytically determine the sampling time instant sequence for each agent), a distributed subgradient descent algorithm with constrained information exchange is proposed. By selecting the appropriate quantization levels, all the agents' states asymptotically converge to a consensus value which is also the optimal solution to the optimization problem, without committing saturation of all the quantizers. We find that one bit of information exchange across each connected channel can guarantee that the optimiztion problem can be exactly solved. Theoretical analysis shows that the event-triggered subgradient descent algorithm with constrained data rate of networks converges at the rate of O(ln t/root t). We supply a numerical simulation experiment to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm and to validate the correctness of theoretical results.

Global Mittag-Leffler stability and synchronization analysis of fractional-order quaternion-valued neural networks with linear threshold neurons

This paper talks about the stability and synchronization problems of fractional-order quaternion-valued neural networks (FQVNNs) with linear threshold neurons. On account of the non-commutativity of quaternion multiplication resulting from Hamilton rules, the FQVNN models are separated into four real-valued neural network (RVNN) models. Consequently, the dynamic analysis of FQVNNs can be realized by investigating the real-valued ones. Based on the method of M-matrix, the existence and uniqueness of the equilibrium point of the FQVNNs are obtained without detailed proof. Afterwards, several sufficient criteria ensuring the global Mittag-Leffler stability for the unique equilibrium point of the FQVNNs are derived by applying the Lyapunov direct method, the theory of fractional differential equation, the theory of matrix eigenvalue, and some inequality techniques. In the meanwhile, global Mittag-Leffler synchronization for the drive-response models of the addressed FQVNNs are investigated explicitly. Optimal Target Secrecy Rate and Power Allocation Policy for a SWIPT System Over a Fading Wiretap Channel

The simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) technique is regarded as a promising approach to enhance performance of wireless networks with limited energy supply. However, due to the broadcast nature of wireless radio, the energy receiver may act as a potential eavesdropper to eavesdrop the information sent to the information receiver. To address this issue, in this paper, we propose an optimization framework of the target secrecy rate and the power allocation ratio based on the secrecy outage probability and the effective secrecy throughput in the SWIPT system over fading wiretap channel. Moreover, we derive the closed-form expression of the secrecy outage probability and the effective secrecy throughput for two secrecy transmission modes. Furthermore, we formulate the effective secrecy throughput maximization problem under the reliability constraint in the ON-OFF and adaptive transmission modes and provide the closed-form optimal solutions of the power allocation ratio and the target secrecy rate. Finally, we provide numerical results that give an insight into the effect of various system parameters on the secrecy outage probability and the effective secrecy throughput, such as the target secrecy rate, the power allocation ratio, and average gains of the main channel and the eavesdropper channel.

Convergence analysis of nonlinear Kalman filters with novel innovation-based method

The convergence of nonlinear Kalman filters has conventionally been analyzed in terms of the estimation error. In this paper, we present a new method for investigating the convergence performance of a class of nonlinear Kalman filters based on deterministic sampling. The systems considered here are described by nonlinear state equations with linear measurements. For this type of systems, our proposed convergence analysis is performed using "innovation", which is defined as the error between the measurement and its prediction. Specifically, we obtain a linear relationship between the innovation and the estimation error, and derive a set of sufficient conditions that ensures the convergence of nonlinear Kalman filters. Compared with the conventional convergence analysis method based on the estimation error, the proposed innovation-based method can obtain sufficient conditions for convergence more directly and readily. Simulation results show that the convergence of innovation generates the convergence of nonlinear Kalman filters. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A projection neural network for optimal demand response in smart grid environment

This paper presents a smart grid model that fully considers the power consumption types of users and the features of electricity price. A satisfaction function is added into the bill function to balance the user experience of electricity usage and the consumption of load. For the purpose of minimizing the electricity bill of all users, a single-layer projection neural network (PNN) is used, which is proven to be global convergence. And the simulation results reveal that the effectiveness and peculiarities of the proposed PNN.

A Geometry-Appearance-Based Pupil Detection Method for Near-Infrared Head-Mounted Cameras

This paper presents, for the first time, a novel pupil detection method for near-infrared head-mounted cameras, which relies not only on image appearance to pursue the shape and gradient variation of the pupil contour, but also on structure principle to explore the mechanism of pupil projection. There are three main characteristics in the proposed method. First, in order to complement the pupil projection information, an eyeball center calibration method is proposed to build an eye model. Second, by utilizing the deformation model of pupils under head-mounted cameras and the edge gradients of a circular pattern, we find the best fitting ellipse describing the pupil boundary. Third, an eye-model-based pupil fitting algorithm with only three parameters is proposed to fine-tune the final pupil contour. Consequently, the proposed method extracts the geometry-appearance information, effectively boosting the performance of pupil detection. Experimental results show that this method outperforms the state-of-the-art ones. On a widely used public database (LPW), our method achieves 72.62% in terms of detection rate up to an error of five pixels, which is superior to the previous best one.
