By bond-anchorage property tests at 20°C ~500°C, the distribution of shear stress between carbon fiber sheets and concrete at all levels of loading and anchorage lengths were measured, which means the bond lengths during CFRP sheets are pulled off at the same time when the concrete is torn and stripped were gotten. The failure modes were obtained. In addition, the failure loads were measured, and the calculated formulas of anchorage lengths were identified by fitting at high temperature. It can be seen that the anchorage lengths of carbon fiber sheets increase with increasing temperature at 20°C ~100°C, the anchorage lengths of carbon fiber sheets decrease with increasing temperature at 100°C ~500°C. Tests prove that AASCM has favorable high-temperature resistant and bond anchorage properties.
Due to its design versatility, availability and cost efficiency, concrete continues to play a dominant role in the construction industry. However, the production of Portland cement, a primary component of typical conc...

A new method to infill the opening in the RC precast fabricated concrete shear wall was applied in China. In this paper, three geometrically identical RC precast fabricated shear wall specimens were experimented under constant axial load and quasi-statie cyclic lateral loading. The methods to infill the opening of the wall were respectively integration infill, masonry infill and without infill. Hysteretic curves, skeleton curves, failure process, variation of rebar strain, stiffness, ductility and energy-dissipating capacity were obtained. The results showed that the integration shear wall owns good seismic performance. Its bearing capacity, stiffness, energy-dissipating capacity are excellent while ductility is relatively poor. Masonry infilled wall and wall without infill also own good seismic performance. Meanwhile, numerical simulation of three specimens was conducted by using finite element (FE) software OpenSees. Based on the reasonable modeling and the application of multi-layer shell element, the FE results were verified with the experimental results.

Lagoon berms in western Alaska are difficult to design and build due to limited resources, high cost of construction and materials, and warm permafrost conditions. This paper explores methods to treat locally available frozen materials and use them for berm construction. The goal is to find an optimized mix ratio for cement and additives that can be effective in increasing the strength and decreasing the thaw settlement of an ice-rich frozen silty soil. Soil of similar type and ice content to the permafrost found at a project site in Eek, Alaska is prepared in a cold room. The frozen soil is pulverized and cement, additives and fibers are added to the samples for enhancing shear strength and controlling thaw settlement. Thaw settlement and direct shear tests are performed to assess strength and settlement characteristics. This paper presents a sample preparation method, data from thaw settlement and direct shear tests, and analyses of the test results and preliminary conclusions.
