Dynamic spectrum allocation scheme with real-time traffic and its performance optimization

Aiming at relieving the shortage problem of wireless frequency resource, sec- ondary users in cognitive radio networks occupy the spectrum hole opportunistically. In cognitive radio networks, primary users have preemptive priority for the licensed spectrum, and the data transmission of a secondary user is possible to be interrupted by a primary user at any time. For the applications with real-time traffic, the interrupted data is supposed to be discarded by the system. A continuous time queueing model with potential transmission interruption is established accordingly. By using the Laplace transform, the performance measures, such as the average latency, the normalized throughput and the spectrum switching ratio, are presented. The individually and socially optimal strategies are investigated with a non-cooperative game theory, and then a pricing policy for the secondary users is proposed. Experimental results show that the dynamic spectrum allocation scheme with real-time traffic can be optimized socially. © 2015, ICIC International.

A load balancing algorithm for multi-root ONS

In order to solve the overload problem of root ONS in the EPC network, a load balancing algorithm based on multi-root ONS is proposed. Based on the proposed load balancing ONS (LB ONS) architecture, the ONS Root is defined to have two states, idle or busy. According to CPU utilization and memory utilization of the ONS Root and in combination with threshold controlling to periodically update the ONS Root states, which makes the requests coming from client applications be transferred to an ONS Root which is idle. Experiment results show that the algorithm can reduce query hops and query delays effectively and offer lookup service efficiently. © 2014 Binary Information Press.

Research on a denoising smoothing algorithm for 3D scattered point cloud

In order to effectively eliminate outliers and noise points in 3D scattered point cloud, a denoising smoothing algorithm which is the combination of removing outliers algorithm and trilateral filter is proposed. This is accomplished by rejecting outliers, correcting the normal direction and moving noise points along the modified normal direction within local adaptive neighborhoods. First, the outliers are removed by the method of mathematical statistics, on this basis, estimating normal direction and curvature of point cloud by covariance analysis method. Then, correct the normal direction by combining trilateral filter weighting factor with adaptive optimal neighborhood function. Finally, calculate position offset of data points in the direction of normal amendment by trilateral filter weighting factor in order to smooth the point cloud. Experimental results show that the proposed method is simple and effective, successfully removing noise from point cloud while preserving inherent geometric features. © 2014 ISSN 1881-803X.

The existing model simplification algorithm in simplified speed and quality can't reach a better compromise, so we present an improved quadric error metrics edge collapse mesh simplification algorithm. This algorithm makes the local region unevenness of vertex, the local region average area of vertex and edge length as constraint factors add to the edge collapse cost, by changing the order of the edge collapse to retain the important detail features of the original model. New vertex position is calculated on the different types of edge, keeping the boundary characteristics of the mesh model. Experimental results show that the improved algorithm not only runs faster, but also maintains a higher degree on the model feature region. © 2014 Binary Information Press.

The ribonucleic acid (RNA) secondary structure prediction has designed to characterize the ensemble of structures, instead of only computing the minimum free energy structure. Clustering methods are brought to aid in the characterization of the structure ensemble. These methods group the structures into a small number of clusters. A representative structure for each cluster is computed to characterize the central tendency for the structures in each cluster and used to predict the true secondary structure. This paper introduces a density based clustering with extensible radius dubbed ER-DBSCAN for handling varying density clustering. The basic idea of ER-DBSCAN is to use different values of radius for different densities. It starts from the highest density object towards the lowest density object, and the radius of the cluster is automatically adjusted during cluster expansion according to the density distribution and density variation. Our results indicate that ER-DBSCAN can detect and handle clusters of varying density, and cluster RNA secondary structures effectively. © 2015, ISSN 1881-803X.

Real-time simulation of foam and sprays based on the Weber number

In this paper, we propose a method based on the Weber number to uniformly model and simulate the foam and sprays generated by the fluid motion. We use the SPH to construct the fluid and calculate the Weber number of each particle. The fluid particles are divided into foam particles, transition particles and water particles by comparing their Weber number with a given critical value. These particles are rendered independently. For the solid-liquid interaction in fluid, we use SPH particles to mark the solid shape, and correct the changed solid particle position using a rotating equation. Finally, a more precise fluid surface illumination model is proposed, and the Fresnel reflection coefficient of this model can be gotten by the Snell law. Experiment results show that our method achieve real-time performance and the visual effect is desirable. © 2014 Binary Information Press.

Adaptive multilevel meshes for cloth simulation

A novel method based on multilevel meshes is proposed to simulate the cloth draping process rapidly on a complex model. Considering of the difficulty of computing the realtime collision between cloth and complex models by normally methods, the draping process of cloth is divided into several phases and at each phase the mesh size is smaller than its previous one. The optimized 1-to-4 split is used to drive the rapid changes in the grid hierarchy and to simplify the calculations. We choose the widely used ellipsoid as the bounding cell to enclose the complex models in the environment. The ellipsoid avoids the complex structure of hierarchical bounding box and eliminates the impossible collision model area rapidly. Experiments demonstrate that this method can accelerate the draping process of cloth and decrease the number of iterations and the calculation of collision detection. Further mesh refinement improves the reality of cloth when it reaches the final position and ensures the realism of the simulation in real time. ©2014 Binary Information Press

Mining weighted frequent traversal pattern from software executing graph

Mining important patterns in complex software executing network plays an important role in analyzing software security. The general sequential pattern mining algorithms may lead to poor performance due to the lack of consideration on the continuous property of software path traversals and the different importance of functions. To address the issue, a novel approach called weighted frequent traversal pattern miner (WFTPMiner) to mine weighted frequent traversal pattern from software executing graph is presented in this paper. In WFTPMiner, weighted software executing graph (WSEG) is modeled firstly. Secondly, software path traversals are extracted from WSEG by depthfirst- search (DFS) strategy. Thirdly, according to continuity characteristics of software path traversals, a potential frequent suffix sequence tree (PFSS-Tree) is defined to store the potential weighted frequent traversal patterns. A pruning strategy is adopted by PFSSTree. The pruning strategy can prune infrequent patterns effectively. The experimental results show that WFTPMiner has better efficiency compared with some previous algorithms. © 2015 ICIC International.

Hadoop is a reasonable tool for cloud computing in big data era and MapReduce paradigm may be a highly successful programming model for large-scale data-intensive computing application, but the conventional MapReduce model and Hadoop framework limit themselves to implement jobs within single cluster. Traditional single-cluster Hadoop may not suitable for situations when data and compute resources are widely distributed this paper focuses on the application of Hadoop across multiple data centers and clusters. A hierarchical distributed computing architecture of Hadoop is designed and the virtual Hadoop file system is proposed to provide global data view across multiple data centers. The job submitted by user can be decomposed automatically into several sub-jobs which are then allocated and executed on corresponding clusters by location-aware manner. The prototype based on this architecture shows encouraging results. © Shengtao et al.

An improved algorithm for detecting community structure based on node similarity

Detecting community structure based on node similarity cost lower time complexity, but they ignore the indirect relationships of nodes. We proposed an improved algorithm for detecting community structure based on node similarity (AINS). The algorithm presents a neighbor subgraph model based on akincore node pair, considering the direct and indirect relations between nodes. It introduced node indirect similarity to solve the problem which only pay attention to direct relationships, ensuring that the results meet the common definition of community structure (the number of edges between community is greater than that within community). The experimental results show that the AINS algorithm can obtain better community classification result effectively. © 2014 Binary Information Press.
