This paper focuses on the discrete-time automatic pipeline, inventory and order-based production control system (APIOBPCS), a well-established production and inventory control model. The feedback mechanism within the replenishment rule enables the model to mitigate the bullwhip effect, but introduces a stability problem. In this research, a comprehensive stability analysis is conducted for arbitrary lead times using difference equation theory. On the basis of stability, a state space approach is advocated to analyse the impact of replenishment parameters, demand processes, and lead times on the robustness of the bullwhip effect. The stability results demonstrate that the production control system can easily be destabilised without incorporating the work-in-progress (WIP) feedback loop. Furthermore, it reveals that the stability problem for long lead times can be simplified with the stability condition independent of the lead time. The results obtained in this study provide useful guidelines for the selection of replenishment parameters to guarantee stability and mitigate the bullwhip effect.

Multidetector imaging systems often suffer from the problem of stripe noise and random noise, which greatly degrade the imaging quality. In this paper, we propose a variational destriping method that combines unidirectional total variation and framelet regularization. Total-variation-based regularizations are considered effective in removing different kinds of stripe noise, and framelet regularization can efficiently preserve the detail information. In essence, these two regularizations are complementary to each other. Moreover, the proposed method can also efficiently suppress random noise. The split Bregman iteration method is employed to solve the resulting minimization problem. Comparative results demonstrate that the proposed method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art destriping methods on both qualitative and quantitative assessments. In this paper, an on-board trajectory planning algorithm is proposed for atmospheric ascent. To deal with the impact of disturbance, the on-board trajectory planning algorithm updates the reference trajectory by solving an optimal control problem on-board. Considering the strong non-linear aerodynamic, the optimal control problem is transformed into non-linear programming problem by trajectory discretisation. The direct optimisation method is implemented for this non-linear programming problem. Due to the small amount of discrete nodes and the initial guess solution which is close to the optimisation solution, the direct optimisation method is fast enough to generate a new reference trajectory in every guidance cycle. With different cases of the aerodynamic coefficient bias, numerical simulation for the generic hypersonic vehicle model and scramjet engine is done. The results show the accuracy and the effectiveness of the on-board trajectory planning algorithm.

DNA tile assembly models are a class of mathematically distributed and parallel biocomputing models in DNA tiles. In previous works, tile assembly models have been proved be Turing-universal;that is, the system can do what Turing machine can do. In this paper, we use tile systems to solve computational hard problem. Mathematically, we construct three tile subsystems, which can be combined together to solve vertex cover problem. As a result, each of the proposed tile subsystems consists of Theta(1) types of tiles, and the assembly process is executed in a parallel way (like DNA's biological function in cells);thus the systems can generate the solution of the problem in linear time with respect to the size of the graph.

Splicing P systems are a class of distributed parallel computing models in the framework of membrane computing, which are inspired by the recombination of DNA molecules under the influence of restriction enzymes. In this work, a variant of P machine, called splicing P machine, is presented, which can provide an automata approach to investigate splicing P systems. It is shown that such a device can do what the splicing P system does. Several examples are given to illustrate that splicing P machine can provide the same results as the corresponding splicing P system. This work provides an answer to an open problem formulated by G. This paper presented a control design methodology for a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) generation system for residential applications. The dynamic behavior of the generation system is complex in such applications. A comprehensive control design is very important for achieving a steady system operation and efficiency. The control strategy for a 60 kW generation system was proposed and tested based on the system dynamic model. A two-variable single neuron proportional-integral (PI) decoupling controller was developed for anode pressure and humidity by adjusting the hydrogen flow and water injection. A similar controller was developed for cathode pressure and humidity by adjusting the exhaust flow and water injection. The desired oxygen excess ratio was kept by a feedback controller based on the load current. An optimal seeking controller was used to trace the unique optimal power point. Two negative feedback controllers were used to provide AC power and a suitable voltage for residential loads by a power conditioning unit. control simulation tests showed that 60 kW PEMFC generation system responded well for computer-simulated step changes in the load power demand. This control methodology for a 60 kW PEMFC generation system would be a competitive solution for system level designs such as parameter design, performance analysis, and online optimization.

An effective model for diesel engine in cold test has been developed in this paper. The mathematical model of diesel engine is mainly composed by four parts: turbocompressor model, intake manifold model, exhaust manifold model and the pressure model of cylinder in cold test. And then a new engine faults diagnosis method based on frequency domain analysis is presented. The typical faults of diesel engine in cold test, including the cylinder work phase fault and intake/exhaust valve phase fault, are distinguished by the amplitude frequency performance of engine torque. And the location of the engine faults is solved by the performance of the phases of low-frequency of engine torque signals. It has been proved to be an effective method to identify and locate the faults of the diesel engine in cold test.

This paper is concerned with the global exponential anti-synchronization of a class of chaotic memristive neural networks with time-varying delays. The dynamic analysis here employs results from the theory of differential equations with discontinuous right-hand side as introduced by Filippov. And by using differential inclusions theory, the Lyapunov functional method and the inequality technique, some new sufficient conditions ensuring exponential anti-synchronization of two chaotic delayed memristive neural networks are derived. The new proposed results here are very easy to verify and they also improve the earlier publications. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the new scheme. In this paper, we formulate and investigate a class of memristive recurrent neural networks. Two different types of anti-synchronization algorithms are derived to achieve the exponential anti-synchronization of the coupled systems based on drive-response concept, differential inclusions theory and Lyapunov functional method. The proposed anti-synchronization algorithms are simple and can be easily realized. The analysis in the paper employs results from the theory of differential equations with discontinuous right-hand side as introduced by Filippov.
