An effective temperature controller for steam reformers is critical to ensure a high performance reforming process in the connection of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC). The establishment of a control-oriented dynamic model plays an important role in the development of a control system. In this work, a high-fidelity lumped parameter model for a steam reformer is constructed based on physical and chemical laws. In order to fit simulated data to experimental data, such as flow rate and temperature characteristics, a new identification method based on a breed particle swarm optimization (Breed PSO) algorithm is introduced for parameter identification. The results show that the identified model can achieve an accurate description of the actual plant and can be used to replace it for the development of a control system. Non-rigid multi-modal image registration plays an important role in medical image processing and analysis. Existing image registration methods based on similarity metrics such as mutual information (MI) and sum of squared differences (SSD) cannot achieve either high registration accuracy or high registration efficiency. To address this problem, we propose a novel two phase non-rigid multi-modal image registration method by combining Weber local descriptor (WLD) based similarity metrics with the normalized mutual information (NMI) using the diffeomorphic free-form deformation (FFD) model. The first phase aims at recovering the large deformation component using the WLD based non-local SSD (wldNSSD) or weighted structural similarity (wldWSSIM). Based on the output of the former phase, the second phase is focused on getting accurate transformation parameters related to the small deformation using the NMI. Extensive experiments on T1, T2 and PD weighted MR images demonstrate that the proposed wldNSSD-NMI or wldWSSIM-NMI method outperforms the registration methods based on the NMI, the conditional mutual information (CMI), the SSD on entropy images (ESSD) and the ESSD-NMI in terms of registration accuracy and computation efficiency.

This paper is concerned with the consensus problem for a class of Lipschitz nonlinear agents with Markov switching topologies and time-varying delays. The distributed event-triggered consensus control with an adaptive law in adjusting the coupling weights between neighboring agents is designed, which can not only guarantee the consensus performance in the mean square sense but also reduce the communication burden since the introduction of the event-triggered communication scheme. Different from the traditional event-triggers in the existing references, the parameter of the event-trigger in this paper is adaptively adjusted by using an adaptive law. A convincing simulation example is given to illustrate the theoretical results.

This paper addresses the bipartite flock control problem with or without a virtual leader. Using structurally balanced signed graph theory and LaSalle’s invariance principle, we prove that the algorithm guarantees a bipartite flocking behavior. In such a collective motion, the whole group separates into two clusters, in each of which all individuals move with the same direction. Meanwhile, every pair of agents in different clusters moves with opposite directions. Moreover, all agents in the two separated clusters approach a common velocity magnitude, and collision avoidance among each cluster is ensured as well. Finally, the proposed bipartite flock control method are examined by numerical simulations. The bipartite flocking motion addressed by this paper has its references in both natural collective motions and human group behaviors such as predator-prey and panic escaping scenarios.

This paper investigates adaptive flocking of multi-agent systems (MASs) with a virtual leader. All agents and the virtual leader share the same intrinsic nonlinear dynamics, which satisfies a locally Lipschitz condition and depends on both position and velocity information for the agent itself. Under the assumption that the initial network is connected, an approach to preserving the connectivity of the network is proposed. On the basis of the Lyapunov stability theory, an adaptive flocking control law is derived, for making the MASs track the virtual leader without collision. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

This paper is concerned with the problem of delay-dependent passive analysis and control for stochastic interval systems with interval time-varying delay. The system matrices are assumed to be uncertain within given intervals, and the time delay is a time-varying continuous function belonging to a given range. By the transformation of the interval uncertainty into the norm-bounded uncertainty, partitioning the delay into two segments of equal length, and constructing an appropriate LyapunovKrasovskii functional in each segment of the delay interval, delay-dependent stochastic passive control criteria are proposed without ignoring any useful terms by considering the information of the lower bound and upper bound for the time delay. The main contribution of this paper is that a tighter upper bound of the stochastic differential of LyapunovKrasovskii functional is obtained via a newly-proposed bounding condition. Based on the criteria obtained, a delay-dependent passive controller is presented. The results are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.

Hierarchy task network (HTN) planning, as one of AI planning approaches, has been widely used in the emergency decision making for action planning in recent years, in which domain knowledge plays an important role. The special and complicated characteristics of emergency domain knowledge make it difficult to model, hindering the application of HTN planning to emergency action plan development. Though ontology modeling can get over the difficulty, existing ontology models for the emergency domain knowledge are either incomplete or not applicable for HTN planning. This paper aims at constructing emergency domain knowledge ontology applicable for HTN planner SHOP2 which can effectively support the emergency action plan development. An approach of translating an emergency domain knowledge model into a SHOP2 domain is also discussed in the paper. Finally an implementation of our work is roughly introduced.

Displacement prediction model of landslide based on a modified ensemble empirical mode decomposition and extreme learning machine

In this paper, an M-EEMD-ELM model (modified ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD)-based extreme learning machine (ELM) ensemble learning paradigm) is proposed for landslide displacement prediction. The nonlinear original surface displacement deformation monitoring time series of landslide is first decomposed into a limited number of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) and one residual series using EEMD technique for a deep insight into the data structure. Then, these sub-series except the high frequency are forecasted, respectively, by establishing appropriate ELM models. At last, the prediction results of the modeled IMFs and residual series are summed to formulate an ensemble forecast for the original landslide displacement series. A case study of Baishuihe landslide in the Three Gorges reservoir area of China is presented to illustrate the capability and merit of our model. Empirical results reveal that the prediction using M-EEMD-ELM model is consistently better than basic artificial neural networks (ANNs) and unmodified EEMD-ELM in terms of the same measurements.

We focus on downlink scheduling and resource allocation for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless networks. From a perspective of network operators, the base station (BS) will charge the downlink users to earn revenue and pay for electricity consumption. The aim of network operators is to achieve better profits while ensuring network stability. In the context of smart grid, the BS can harvest renewable energy and store energy in order to cut down electricity cost. The challenge is that it is hard to obtain the accurate statistic knowledge of electricity price, random rate requests and renewable energy. Furthermore, we have to deal with the dynamic data rate requests from downlink users with heterogeneous quality of service (QoS) requirements. To handle the coupling between congestion control, energy consumption and radio resource allocation, we propose a pricing-based cross-layer scheduling and energy management algorithm PCSM based on Lyapunov optimization: the energy management can well regulate the electricity charging rate in case of interrupting the downlink service;the data rate pricing-based congestion control scheme collects proper revenue by setting data rate price to carry out flow control and profit maximization;the radio resource allocation can achieve adaptive allocation by using cross-layer information from the network layer as well as energy storage condition. Theoretical analysis shows that it can achieve a near-optimal performance when stabilizing the network and that its effectiveness is also validated through simulation results.

This paper investigates the consensus problem for a set of discrete-time heterogeneous multi-agent systems composed of two kinds of agents differed by their dynamics. The consensus control is designed based on the event-triggered communication scheme, which can lead to a significant reduction of the information communication burden in the multi-agent network. Meanwhile, only the communication between the agent and its local neighbors is needed, therefore, the designed control is essentially distributed. Based on the Lyapunov functional method and the Kronecker product technique, a sufficient condition is obtained to guarantee the consensus of heterogeneous multi-agent systems in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI).
