In this paper, we focus on the need for location and pose detection of partly covered target. In micro-vision system, the accuracy of location and pose detection directly decides the effect of latter micro-operation. Former methods can't locate the target which was partly covered. According to the current problem in micro-vision system, this paper proposes a method of target location and pose detection which based on Hough transform and template matching. When the aspect ratio and area of target is certain, by detecting the shape feature and using template matching, we detect the location of target which was partly covered. Firstly, use Canny algorithm and morphology method to obtain the edge of objects. Then, use the improved Hough transform algorithm to extract line segments features and locate the candidate target region according to template matching. Finally, recognize and locate the target by detecting whether the two segments are connected to be a signal region. After recognizing target, the slant angle of the target is detected based on Hough transform. This method can exactly locate the target and get the angle. The experimental results show the proposed method is better than the former ones under complex background and partly covered targets.

This paper investigates the maintenance policy of Two-Machine-One-Buffer flow line two machines with an intermediate buffer and analyzes effects of parameters on maintenance policy and system performance. The system produces good products with gradually decreasing probability when no maintenance is executed. A maintenance policy of control limit form having been testified in many literatures is adopted and a discounted reward Q-P-learning algorithm based on policy iteration is used to find out the optimal maintenance triggering states and also verify the model.

Recently, Gutierrez-Naranjo and Leporati considered performing basic arithmetic operations on a new class of bio-inspired computing devices-spiking neural P systems (for short, SN P systems). However, the binary encoding mechanismused in their research looks like the encoding approach in electronic circuits, instead of the style of spiking neurons (in usual SN P systems, information is encoded as the time interval between spikes). In this work, four SN P systems are constructed as adder, subtracter, multiplier, and divider, respectively. In this paper, we focus on learning an adaptive appearance model robustly and effectively for object tracking. There are two important factors to affect object tracking, the one is how to represent the object using a discriminative appearance model, the other is how to update appearance model in an appropriate manner. In this paper, following the state-of-the-art tracking techniques which treat object tracking as a binary classification problem, we firstly employ a new gradient-based Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG) feature selection mechanism under Multiple Instance Learning (MIL) framework for constructing target appearance model, and then propose a novel optimization scheme to update such appearance model robustly. This is an unified framework that not only provides an efficient way of selecting the discriminative feature set which forms a powerful appearance model, but also updates appearance model in online MIL Boost manner which could achieve robust tracking overcoming the drifting problem. Experiments on several challenging video sequences demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of our proposal. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

This brief investigates the H-infinity filtering problem for a class of neutral systems with mixed delays and multiplicative noises. The mixed delays comprise both discrete time-varying and distributed delays. Moreover, the multiplicative disturbances are in the form of a scalar Gaussian white noise with unit variance. In the presence of mixed delays and multiplicative noises, sufficient conditions for the existence of an H-infinity filter are derived, such that the filtering error dynamics is asymptotically mean-square stable and also achieves a guaranteed H-infinity performance level. Then, a linear matrix inequality approach for designing such an H-infinity filter is presented. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed theoretical results.

This paper aims to design full-order and reduced-order observers for one-sided Lipschitz nonlinear systems. The system under consideration is an extension of its known Lipschitz counterpart and possesses inherent advantages with respect to conservativeness. For such system, we first develop a novel Riccati equation approach to design a full-order observer, for which rigorous mathematical analysis is performed. Consequently, we show that the conditions under which a full-order observer exists also guarantee the existence of a reduced-order observer. A design method for the reduced-order observer that is dependent on the solution of the Riccati equation is then presented. The proposed conditions are easily and numerically tractable via standard numerical software. Furthermore, it is theoretically proven that the obtained conditions are less conservative than some existing ones in recent literature. The effectiveness of the proposed observers is illustrated via a simulative example. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
