The event-triggered H_(infinity) control design is investigated for networked control systems with uncertainties and transmission delays. A novel event-triggering scheme is proposed, which has some advantages over traditional ones with a continuous detector. Considering the effect of the transmission delay, a delay system model for the analysis is firstly constructed. Then, based on the model and Lyapunov functional method, criteria for the stability with an H_(infinity) norm bound and criteria for the co-design of both the feedback gain and the trigger parameters are derived. In order to solve the feedback gain and the trigger parameters, the linear matrix inequality technique is employed. From the simulation example, it can be concluded that the proposed event-triggering scheme is superior to some other event-triggering schemes in some existing literature.

The dynamic properties and non-linear control of the pneumatic muscle actuator (PMA) were investigated in this study for use in a specially designed hand rehabilitation device. The phenomenological model of PMA was established in the lower pressure range applicable for hand rehabilitation. The experimental results show that PMA's characteristics can be approximated by piecewise functions. In order to improve the performance and robustness of control for accurate trajectory tracking, a sliding mode control based on non-linear disturbance observer (SMCBNDO) was designed. The simulation and experimental results demonstrated that the model and the sliding mode control achieved the desired performance in tracking a desired trajectory within guaranteed accuracy. The work indicates that the model and the non-linear control proposed in this study can be applied in PMA-driven hand function rehabilitation devices requiring lower pressures.

Looking for small universal computing devices is a natural and well investigated topic in computer science. Recently, this topic was also investigated in the framework of spiking neural P systems. One of the small universality results is that a small weakly universal extended spiking neural P system with 12 neurons was constructed. In this paper, a new way is introduced for simulating register machines by spiking neural P systems, where only one neuron is used for all instructions of the register machine;in this way, we can use less neurons to construct universal spiking neural P system. Lamarckian learning has been introduced into evolutionary computation to enhance the ability of local search. The relevant research topic, memetic computation, has received significant amount of interest. In this study, a novel memetic computational framework is proposed by simulating the integrated regulation between neural and immune systems. The Lamarckian learning strategy of simulating the unidirectional regulation of neural system on immune system is designed. Consequently, an immune memetic algorithm based on the Lamarckian learning is proposed for numerical optimization. The proposed algorithm combines the advantages of immune algorithms and mathematical programming, and performs well in both global and local search. The simulation results based on ten low-dimensional and ten high-dimensional benchmark problems show that the immune memetic algorithm outperforms the basic genetic algorithm-based memetic algorithm in solving most of the test problems.

Membrane systems are parallel molecular computing models basing on processing multisets of objects in cell-like membrane structures. Inspired by brane calculi, membrane systems with peripheral proteins which differ from conventional membrane systems have been investigated. In order to get the possibility to solve computationally hard problems in polynomial time, cell division rule is introduced into this model, which is endowed with the ability of generating an exponential workspace in a linear time. This paper proposes a digital warehouse management system (DWMS) in the tobacco industry based on radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. The DWMS helps warehouse managers to achieve better inventory control, as well as to improve the operation efficiency. In this system, a set of basic events and storage/retrieval rules are defined as event-condition-action (ECA) rules to improve the feasibility and flexibility of DWMS. By using RFID technology, the DWMS enables a plane warehouse to achieve visualised inventory management, automatic storage/retrieval assignment and high accuracy of inventory control as an automatic warehouse. A case in the tobacco industry is studied to illustrate the feasibility and rationality of the proposed system. Based on the ECA rules, a storage/retrieval methodology is proposed to improve the storage/retrieval operations. The results of this case study illustrate that RFID-DWMS can help a plane warehouse to improve operation efficiency, enhance the utilisation of warehouse capacity, increase inventory accuracy and reduce manpower and loading time significantly.
