Users' Media Cloud Assisted D2D communications for Distributed Caching Underlaying Cellular network

In cellular networks, the proximity devices may share files directly without going through the e NBs, which is called Device-to-Device communications(D2D). It has been considered as a potential technological component for the next generation of communication. In this paper, we investigate a novel framework to distribute video files from some other proximity devices through users' media cloud assisted D2 D communication. The main contributions of this work lie in: 1) Providing an efficient algorithm Media Cloud Cluster Selecting Scheme(MCCSS) to achieve the reasonable cluster; 2) Distributing the optimum updating files to the cluster heads, in order to minimize the expected D2 D communication transmission hop for files; 3) Proposing a minimum the hop method, which can ensure the user obtain required file as soon as possible. Extensive simulation results have demonstrated the efficiency of the proposed scheme.

Domain-epidemic spray and forward routing algorithm of opportunistic networks

For the current opportunistic networks routing algorithms, their message arrival rate is not high and the delivery delay is large. This paper proposes a domain-epidemic spray and forward routing algorithm. The algorithm integrates redundancy and encounter prediction strategy. According to the probability of encounters between nodes, the nodes are divided into different domains. The spray and forward strategy is used between domains and the epidemic strategy is used to forward messages within a domain. Using the message confirmation mechanism and a list which is used to record the messages that have arrived to their destination, the new algorithm can effectively reduce redundant messages. Simulation results show our algorithm can effectively improve message arrival rate and reduce end-to-end delay to some extent. © 2013 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

A time domain multiple-CFOs and CIRs estimation algorithm over wireless multimedia sensor networks

Channel parameters estimation in an orthogonal for the receiver station is a multi-dimensional （MD） frequency division multiple access （OFDMA） system optimization problem, because every user node has a separate local oscillator and every transmitter to receiver link has individual carrier frequency offset （CFO） and channel impulse response （CIR） parameters. In order to reduce the computational complexity for MD optimization, a time domain CFOs and CIRs estimation algorithm over the OFDMA based wireless multimedia sensor networks （WMSN） is proposed in this paper. In this algorithm, the receiver station can decouple the signal from every node by correlation based on specially designed training sequences, so that the MD optimization problem is simplified to an 1-D optimal problem. It is proved that the multiple CFOs can be identified from the correlation result using the phase shift of the consecutive training se- quences. Based on the CFOs estimation result, the CIRs can then he estimated according to the minimum mean square error （MMSE） criterion. The theoretic analysis and simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively decouple the signal from different user nodes and the bit error rate （BER） per- formance curves are close to the ideal estimation when the user number is not large.

Face recognition using SIFT features under 3D meshes

Expression, occlusion, and pose variations are three main challenges for 3D face recognition. A novel method is presented to address 3D face recognition using scale-invariant feature transform(SIFT) features on 3D meshes. After preprocessing, shape index extrema on the 3D facial surface are selected as keypoints in the difference scale space and the unstable keypoints are removed after two screening steps. Then, a local coordinate system for each keypoint is established by principal component analysis(PCA).Next, two local geometric features are extracted around each keypoint through the local coordinate system. Additionally, the features are augmented by the symmetrization according to the approximate left-right symmetry in human face. The proposed method is evaluated on the Bosphorus, BU-3DFE, and Gavab databases, respectively. Good results are achieved on these three datasets. As a result, the proposed method proves robust to facial expression variations, partial external occlusions and large pose changes.

In this paper, a novel simultaneous transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (STAR-RIS) enhanced uplink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) communication network is investigated. Specifically, we tackle the transmit rate maximization problem for the strong user, subject to the constraints on total power consumption and the successive interference cancellation order, while guaranteeing the minimum quality-of-service requirement for the weak user. To address such a non-convex optimal problem, we introduce a novel, efficient, and low-complexity scheme. Specifically, the power allocation and receive beamforming optimization solutions are acquired in closed forms, and the transmission and reflection coefficients are obtained in semi-closed forms with a one-dimensional bisection search. Then, theoretical analysis demonstrates our proposed scheme has a lower complexity compared to the schemes with alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) and semidefinite relaxation (SDR) strategies, and the complexity advantage of our proposed scheme over the SDR and ADMM aided schemes becomes prominent when the number of RIS elements increase. Simulation results show that the proposed STAR-RIS-NOMA scheme achieves a better performance than the conventional STAR-RIS-aided orthogonal multiple access (OMA) scheme and STAR-RIS aided NOMA scheme adopting random phase shifts. More specifically, the proposed STAR-RIS-NOMA scheme outperforms the STAR-RIS-OMA scheme in terms of the strong user's rate, especially when the quality-of-service (QoS) requirements for weak user is high, or there is a significant difference channel quality between the reflecting and transmitting links. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

We describe an efficient entanglement concentration protocol （ECP） for an arbitrary partially entangled threeelectron W state. We show that with the help of two ancillary single electrons, the concentration task can be well completed. This ECP has several advantages： Firstly, we only require one pair of partially entangled states. Secondly, only two single electrons are used during the whole protocol. Thirdly, we do not require all the parties to participate in the whole process, and only two parties are needed to perform the operation. Fourthly, the protocol can 5e repeated to obtain a high success probability. This ECP may be useful in current quantum computation and quantum communication.

Impact of MAC frame length on energy efficiency in 6LowPAN

To reach necessary end-to-end connectivity between the Internet and wireless sensor networks （WSNs）, the Internet Engineering Task Force （IETF） IPv6 over low power wireless personal area network （6LowPAN） working group has been established and introduced an adaptation layer for integration of IEEE 802.15.4 physical layer/media access control （PHY/MAC） layers and the upper layers of any Intemet protocol （IP）-based networks, such as the Internet. The energy efficiency is one of the most important performance measures in WSNs because most sensor nodes are only battery powered so we should reduce the energy consumption to the lowest to extend the life of nodes. Therefore the determination of MAC frame length should be carefully considered since that the radio frequency （RF） module consumes most the energy of a sensor node meanwhile the MAC protocol is the direct controller of RF module. In this paper, we provide a star-shaped 6LowPAN non-beacon mode with unslotted carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance （CSMA/CA） mechanism to access to the channel and model the stochastic behavior of a target end node as the M/G/1 queuing system. Analytical expressions for some parameters such as channel busy probability, packet loss probability and energy efficiency are obtained in this paper and our analytical results can clearly show the impact of MAC frame length on the energy efficiency of a target node in both ideal and lossy channel.

Interference alignment scheme for downlink multi-carrier MIMO cellular systems

In this paperwe propose a practical interference alignment (IA) scheme for the downlink cellular systems with multi-carrier transmission over multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) channels, where the interference is decompounded into two parts (inter-cell and intra-cell interference). IA is used to effectively mitigate inter-cell interferences, while the intra-cell interference is suppressed by subcarrier allocation so that some spatial degrees of freedom are released. Assuming L Base stations each with M antennas and K users (having N antennas), we present that a necessary condition for zero inter-cell interference is (L-N)K ≤ M-1. In contrast, for a single-carrier MIMO cellular networks, the corresponding condition is known to be N + M ≥ LK + 1, which does not hold usually. An iterative optimization algorithm for the proposed scheme is given, and numerical results show that the proposed scheme achieves a high spectral efficiency when the number of users is large and the number of transmit and receive antennas is limited. © 2014 Binary Information Press.

Robust and Passive Motion Detection with COTS WiFi Devices

Device-free Passive（DfP） detection has received increasing attention for its ability to support various pervasive applications. Instead of relying on variable Received Signal Strength（RSS）, most recent studies rely on finer-grained Channel State Information（CSI）. However, existing methods have some limitations, in that they are effective only in the Line-Of-Sight（LOS） or for more than one moving individual. In this paper, we analyze the human motion effect on CSI and propose a novel scheme for Robust Passive Motion Detection（R-PMD）. Since traditional low-pass filtering has a number of limitations with respect to data denoising, we adopt a novel Principal Component Analysis（PCA）-based filtering technique to capture the representative signals of human motion and extract the variance profile as the sensitive metric for human detection. In addition, existing schemes simply aggregate CSI values over all the antennas in MIMO systems. Instead, we investigate the sensing quality of each antenna and aggregate the best combination of antennas to achieve more accurate and robust detection. The R-PMD prototype uses off-the-shelf WiFi devices and the experimental results demonstrate that R-PMD achieves an average detection rate of 96.33% with a false alarm rate of 3.67%.
