This Letter demonstrates a filterless v-band signals and pulses generator scheme with a tunable optical carrier to sideband ratio(OCSR). Through complete theoretical analysis, the mathematical expression of the OCSR that contains the extinction ratio, phase modulation index, and bias angle is obtained. It is found that the OCSR has a wide tuning range, from 50 to-70 d B. By careful adjustment, a 60 GHz millimeter-wave signal with the OCSR at 50.72 d B and the electrical spurious suppression ratio at 36.6 d B can be achieved. Moreover, the discussions of using optimum OCSR to generate a Nyquist pulse or triangular-shaped pulse are also presented in this Letter.

An approach for full duty frequency-doubled triangle shape lightwave generation is proposed and *** requires a dual-parallel Mach–Zehnder modulator(DP-MZM) driven by a sinusoidal signal. A stop band filter is coupled to filter out two undesired sidebands. By tuning the bias voltage applied to the DP-MZM, the output optical intensity with a full duty cycle triangle shape profile can be obtained. It is found that the required modulation index is no longer a fixed one. It can vary within a range, without degrading the target waveform. The principle is analyzed by theory and evaluated by simulation. A proof-of-concept experiment is also *** agreements between theoretical prediction and experimental results have been found. This approach might be attractive due to the feature of a variable modulation index, which insures simple operation in practice.

We present a single-mode multilayer-core fiber with a large mode area(LMA) and a low bending loss in this Letter. A low equivalent core-cladding refractive index difference is achieved by exploiting the multilayer structure. The multilayer structure has a better bending performance than a traditional step-index core and this structure also contributes to realizing different curved refractive index profiles that have a better bending performance. An index trench is also introduced to dramatically reduce the bending loss. The experimental results show that, at a wavelength of 1550 nm, the mode area of the fabricated fiber is about 215.5 μm^2 and the bending loss is 0.58 dB/turn at a 10 mm bending radius. The LMA and excellent bending performance can be obtained simultaneously with the proposed fiber.

A low-sidelobe substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) leaky wave antenna (LWA) array with non-uniform transverse slots is proposed. By tuning the length of the radiating slot etched on the SIW, the sidelobe level of the design can be effectively reduced. A four-way SIW power divider with equal outputs of same phase and amplitude is designed to feed a four by one array. The proposed LWA array shows a low sidelobe level up to -28.4 dB and can scan within an angular range of 36° with frequency varying from 2.2 GHz to 3.0 GHz.

In order to satisfy the requirement of high-power microwave system, a novel overmoded-waveguide directional coupler centred at 2.4 GHz, with low coupling of 40-50 dB, and with directivity greater than 20dB, is designed. A resonant cavity as the transition waveguide between main waveguide and sub-waveguide is introduced. This paper also proposes a correction of coupling coefficient calculation. Ultimately, after optimizing the parameters, a structure with good performance is obtained.
