Wood-polymethyl methacrylate composites(WPC) were prepared by vacuum-pressure impregnation of wood veneer with methyl methacrylate and subsequent hot curing in the presence of azobisisobutyrynitrile as initiator. The combustion parameters of the prepared WPC were determined by a cone calorimeter and the combustion properties of prepared composite was compared with that of the untreated wood veneer. The results show that, compared to the untreated wood veneer, the WPC has prolonged time to ignition, and greater total heat release, while it has lower peak value of heat release rate and the more even heat release during the whole process of combustion, thus its fire performance index increases. This means that the flashover time of WPC would prolong in a fire;the total smoke production of WPC increases, while smoke releases more smoothly;the CO yield tends to decrease and its formation is somewhat delayed.

Mischcrystal titanate nanotube has been synthesized via a hydrothermal method on controlling the cosolvent solution. SEM, TEM, XRD, EDS, XPS, FT-IR and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller methods were used to characterize the shape and morphology, crystalline structure, sample formation and specific surface area of as-prepared nanotube. The composition of nanotube could be assigned as H 2 Ti 2 O 5 .H 2 O and Na 2 Ti 3 O 7 .nH 2 O crystal structures. The shape and morphology of nanotube underwent a drastic change with the emergence of rod-like form when the sintered temperature reached 600°C. The XRD patterns also confirmed the transformation accompanying the occurrence of sodium hexatitanates and rutile TiO 2 . When the calcination temperature arrived at 800°C, well-crystallized sodium hexatitanates with rod shape took place. The photocatalytic activities of prepared sample and calcined products were evaluated with rate constant by the decomposition of Rhodamine B. The results showed the initial nanotube had the highest specific surface area but without photocatalytic effect. With the sintered temperature reached 400 and 500°C, the calcined products showed positive photocatalytic activities and the rate constants were around three times than that of the precursor though their specific surface areas were not the largest. However, the heat treated samples in 700-900°C expressed negative photocatalytic effects along with the occurrence of nanorods and rutile titanium oxide.

The effect of the pretreatment by acid and bleacher oncolor changes and FT-IR spectra of wood surfaces of *** due to irradiation has been examined. To monitor therelationship, L*, a*, b*, △E* parameters and FT-IR spectra ofsamples' surface were analyzed quantitatively byspectrophotometer and FT-IR at the different irradiation *** time was altered between 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120h. Ourfindings showed that acid treatment promoted photo-discolorationand bleaching treatment enhanced the lightnessvalue and b* value. The changes of the surface colors wererelated to carbonyl compounds, phenolic hydroxyl,paraquinones, ortho quinine and so on.

Indoor air quality of the new building has become a major concentration in China. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in new buildings were investigated and factors significant to their presence were discussed. Concentrations of volatile organic compounds, temperature and humidity were measured in four new apartment buildings over 6 months following installation. Formaldehyde concentrations in the new buildings were relatively low in the new buildings, which can satisfy the Indoor air quality standard of 0.10mg/m3. But the benzene and total volatile organic compound (TVOC) concentrations were extremely higher indoor, they were approximately three to four times higher than IAQ standard. Simultaneous outdoor samples were also collected to determine indoor to outdoor I/O. ratios for every compound at each location, which showing a dominant effect of indoor sources. The study revealed that the indoor concentrations of selected VOCs on occasions could be significantly high due to various sources. The data presented here can be useful in developing air quality standards for indoor air.

A suit of wood-based composite nondestructive virtual instrument system based on labview was designed in this paper. The sample of poplar Laminated Veneer Lumber was used to discuss the feasibility of the applications of virtual instrument in the wood-based composite nondestructive test. The main results are as follows: the longitudinal resonance elasticity modulus that was measured by virtual instrument can be the token of conventionality static elasticity modulus and FFT because they had prominent correlation under the level of 0.01.
