Performance Analysis for Intrusion Target Detection in wireless sensor networks

Target detection and field surveillance are among the most prominent applications of wireless sensor networks. The quality of detection achieved by a sensor network can be quantified by evaluating the probability of detecting a mobile target crossing a sensing field. Detection probability of sensor nodes has been studied in sensor networks for many purposes such as quality of service and decision making. However, the sensing capabilities of sensors are affected by environmental factors in real deployment. This paper investigates the problem of detecting probability in a log-normal shadow fading environment. It presents an analytic method to evaluate the detection probability by at least $k$ sensors under practical considerations. Furthermore, we also shows that shadow fading makes significant influence in detection probability compared to unit disk sensing model through extensive simulation experiments.

Decoy-state measurement-device-independent quantum key distributions (MDI-QKD) can remove all the loopholes of detection devices and establish secure keys using weak coherent sources. To further extend the secure distance and enhance the key rate, Chau proposed a novel framework for decoy-state MDI-QKD that supports an arbitrary number of intensities and investigated its performance in detail [H. F. Chau, Phys. Rev. A 102, 012611 (2020)]. Here, we experimentally demonstrate its one kind, i.e., the five-intensity MDI-QKD protocol, and achieve a positive key rate over 442 km of ultralow-loss optical fibers. Our results verify that the five-intensity protocol outperforms four-intensity protocols in terms of both distance and key rate, setting a record distance for typical MDI-QKD.

Twin-field quantum key distribution (TF-QKD) can change the channel-loss dependence of key rates from O(η) to O(η) and thus significantly increase the secure key rate compared with other existing quantum key distribution protocols. However, it does not take the source security into account in most present TF-QKD protocols. Here, we propose to employ the Hong-Ou-Mandel interference to characterize the source security, i.e., to use the interference visibility to quantify the information leakage from detectable side channels of sources. Furthermore, we establish a corresponding theoretical model and calculate the final key rate, by using the three-intensity decoy-state method and taking finite-data-size effects into account. Consequently, by employing our present scheme, the secure transmission distance can be longer than 100 km under current experimental conditions, significantly surpassing present device-independent QKD systems.

The problem of vehicle routing planning (VRP) has far-reaching influence, and is widely used in vehicle scheduling, industrial production, transportation, logistics and distribution. The study of VRP and its associated derivations has grown significantly in recent years. So, starting with the fundamental VRP, this paper categorizes the VRP based on its traits and real-world applications. It then in-depth analyses the capacity constrained VRP, time window VRP, batched delivery VRP, dynamic VRP, and stochastic demand VRP, and provides an update on each type of VRP's research. Additionally, a summary of the VRP problem-solving methods is provided. The study of evolutionary algorithms is the main topic of this paper, and the fundamental solution method is provided in accordance with the development of the algorithms. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Aiming at the problem that the amplitude of load oscillation is not easy to control in the movement process of overhead crane, this paper designs a switching PID control method based on whale optimization algorithm(WOA) to improve the performance of position control and anti-swing control for overhead crane. WOA is used to better adjust the parameters of PID controllers. The switching control is realized by a switching module, which defaults to the output of the Position PID Controller to provide control force for the trolley. When the absolute value of the load swing angle fed back by the crane system exceeds the warning value, the switching module immediately blocks the output of the Position PID Controller, and uses the Angle PID Controller to determine the control force. In addition, through theoretical analysis and simulation experiments under different conditions, the results verify the effectiveness of the WOA based switching control in position control and anti-swing control for overhead crane. Improve the efficiency and safety of overhead crane in practical industrial applications. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Haptic data compression has gradually become a key issue for emerging immersive communications. However, it is challenging to achieve a trade-off between high perceptual quality and compression ratio in haptic data compression scheme. Inspired by the perspective of biological cognitive mechanism, we propose a cross-modal haptic compression scheme to improve the perception quality on VR devices in this paper. Since multimodal fusion is routinely employed to improve the ability of system in cognition, we assume that haptic codec is guided by visual semantics to strengthen data relevance in the coding process. We first design a multi-dimensional tactile feature fusion network (MTFFN), which extracts the multi-dimensional features in the material surface and maps them to infer a range of haptic coding parameters. Secondly, we provide second-order difference and linear interpolation to obtain an optimal criterion for the determination of codec parameters, which are inferred by the material surface characteristics. Finally, the simulation results reveal that our compression scheme can efficiently make a customized codec procedure for different materials, obtaining more than 17% improvement in terms of compression ratio with high immersive perceptual quality at the same time.

Both intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) are advocated as the promising technologies to support high spectrum/energy efficiency for future wireless communications. In this paper, we investigate the effect of cooperative-IRS on transmission power consumption for downlink NOMA communication system with multiple channels. To this end, we formulate a power minimization problem for double-IRS aided downlink NOMA system with multiple channels, taking into account the constraint of each user's minimum signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR). In order to solve the non-convex optimization problem brought by double-IRS, we first establish the relation between the transmit power and the phase shifts, and then develop an alternative optimization algorithm to determine the optimal phase shift. Simulation results show that the performance of deploying double-IRS is significantly better than that of deploying a centralized-IRS when there are sufficient number of reflecting elements. Besides, compared with various benchmarking schemes, the proposed joint optimization algorithm can significantly reduce the transmit power consumption.

Logistics vehicle and cargo matching problem is a typical combination optimization problem, which has important theoretical and application value in the field of logistics distribution. The proved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is one of the most extensive optimization methods studied in recent years, with excellent global search ability and convergence speed. Based on the IPSO algorithm, this paper proposes an effective IPSO algorithm model for the matching problem of logistics vehicles and goods, and conducts the corresponding comparative experiment. The final experimental results show that the algorithm has good results in practical application and can provide a feasible optimization method for solving the problem of logistics vehicles and goods. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

With the rise of the Internet of Everything, machine-type wireless video applications like intelligent surveillance are increasingly becoming mainstream network services. However, the massive transmission of video streams heavily burdens wireless networks. Existing methods typically establish a correlation between the transmitted content and the quality of experience or service, making it challenging to balance trade-offs among decision quality, bandwidth utilization, and latency requirements. To address this issue fundamentally, this paper proposes a novel perspective by designing wireless video transmission strategies from the angle of decision quality, where only the content that impacts the decision outcomes is transmitted. The highlight of this paper is designing a lightweight yet efficient binary classifier that predicts whether the current content will change decision outcomes based on content discrepancies, measured only through pixel-level differences and macroblock-level similarity. Furthermore, these discrepancies can be used to distinguish the background, thereby further saving bandwidth by reusing the background information. Additionally, a fine-tuning module is incorporated to flexibly update the classifier model, ensuring adaptability across various scenarios. Extensive results demonstrate that the proposed strategy achieves over 81% redundant bandwidth savings while maintaining decision quality and catering to strict latency requirements on computation-constrained devices.

Non-deterministic polynomial (NP)-complete problems are collections of intractable problems for classical computers, but they may be easier to solve for quantum computers. Considering that practical quantum computers and networks are still under development, it is necessary to find alternatives to solve these problems. Simulations with linear optics offer a good choice since much of the research on quantum information is executed with this approach. In this work, based on Aaronson's protocol (Theory Comput, 5, 1, 2009) ad Arrazola et. al.'s linear optics scheme (npj Quantum Inf, 78, 022310, 2018), we present a demonstration of the NP-complete 2-out-of-4 SAT problem for 4 variables. The experimental results show that NP-complete problems can be well simulated through linear optical systems. © 2021 IEEE.
