We describe an efficient entanglement concentration protocol (ECP) for an arbitrary partially entangled threeelectron W state. We show that with the help of two ancillary single electrons, the concentration task can be well completed. This ECP has several advantages: Firstly, we only require one pair of partially entangled states. Secondly, only two single electrons are used during the whole protocol. Thirdly, we do not require all the parties to participate in the whole process, and only two parties are needed to perform the operation. Fourthly, the protocol can 5e repeated to obtain a high success probability. This ECP may be useful in current quantum computation and quantum communication.

Robust Device-free passive (Dfp) detection is an essential primitive for a broad range of applications such as intrusion detection and smart space. Most recent works focus on finer-grained Channel State Information (CSI), instead of the variable Received Signal Strength (RSS). However, existing solutions have some limitations, being feasible only in the line of sight (LOS) or for more than one targeted entities. Moreover, space diversity supported by the MIMO systems hasn't been fully investigated. Motivated by this observation, we propose a novel scheme for Robust Passive Motion Detection (R-PMD). In our scheme, the variance of CSI amplitude feature is extracted as a new metric and the earth mover's distance (EMD) is utilized to determine the detection results. Besides, CSIs across multiantennas are further exploited to improve the detection precision and robustness. We prototype R-PMD on commercial WiFi devices and evaluate it in a typical indoor scenario. Experiment results show R-PMD can achieve great performance in terms of sensitivity and robustness.

We present a highly efficient entanglement concentration protocol (ECP) for a four-electron system in a less-entangled cluster state. In this ECP, we only require one pair of less-entangled electron cluster states and one ancillary electron to complete the task. With the help of the controlled-not (CNOT) gate, the concentrated maximally entangled state can be retained for further application with some success probability. On the other hand, the discarded items can be reused to obtain a high success probability. All the features make this ECP useful in the current quantum information field.

QoS-aware routing algorithm is important in wireless multimedia sensornetworks. This paper formulates a generalized QoS-aware routing model on the basis of multiple routing metrics and priorities of packets. We first introduce a 2D plain-based routing algorithm IPACR which improves the standard ant colony algorithm by optimizing the initial distribution of artificial pheromone in order to accelerate the algorithm convergence rate. Then a clustering-based routing algorithm ICACR is presented which can be well applied in a large scale network. ICACR is a variation of IPACR because it can be suitable for clustering cases to satisfy the larger scale situations. Both the numerical algorithm performance analysis and simulation of IPACR and ICACR are given. The results show that ICACR outperforms IPACR in terms of both network lifetime and QoS-aware routing metrics in large scale wireless multimedia sensornetworks. Moreover, the simulation based on the real video traces shows that by extending the multi-path to ICACR for different priorities of video frames better performance can be achieved.

Side information has a significant influence on the rate-distortion(RD) performance of distributed video coding(DVC). In the conventional motion compensated frame interpolation scheme, all blocks adopt the same side-information generation method regardless of the motion intensity inequality at different regions. In this paper, an improved method is proposed. The image blocks are classified into two modes, fast motion and slow motion, by simply computing the discrete cosine transformation(DCT) coefficients at the encoder. On the decoder, it chooses the direct interpolation and refined motion compensated interpolation correspondingly to generate side information. Experimental results show that the proposed method, without increasing the encoder complexity, can increase the average peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR) by up to 1~ 2 dB compared with the existing algorithm. Meanwhile, the proposed algorithm significantly improves the subjective quality of the side information.
