The oversampling sigma-delta based analog-to-digital converter and digital-to-analog converter (ADC/DAC) architecture can achieve high resolution with effective low hardware cost. It normally introduces latency due to the internal high-performance finite impulse response (FIR) digital filters. In this work, we proposed a novel approach to reduce latency and accurately predict latency caused by the group delay. We propose a filter structure applied to ADC, using the infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and half-band filter (HBF) to construct a hybrid half-band filter (HHBF). A novel modified Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm is proposed to optimize the best distribution of passband ripple and transition bandwidth that is suitable for audio processing with low latency and computation cost. The experiments show that hybrid HBF proposed in this paper improves the efficiency of the filter in terms of filter cost and group delay comparing to traditional design.

The oversampling sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is widely used in digital audio systems for its low hardware cost and high precision. The digital filter part of the ADC is the primary source of the silicon and power cost. In this work, we proposed an economical multistage decimation filter architecture to meet the requirements of commercial ADC specifications with a further novel multi-objective optimization strategy. We took group delay and computational cost as objective functions and used annealing algorithm to readjust the stopband attenuation, stopband edge and passband ripple of each filter. Our multistage architecture combines cascaded integrator-comb (CIC) filters, compensating filters and equiripple finite impulse response (FIR) filters at the different stages to balance the overall performance. The experimental results showed that our design approach worked with multi-objective optimization strategy could achieve low group delay with lower cost compared to traditional designs.

The primary challenge in tracing the participants in sports and marathon video or images is to detect and localize the jersey/Bib number that may present in different regions of their outfit captured in cluttered environment conditions. In this work, we proposed a new framework based on detecting the human body parts such that both Jersey Bib number and text is localized reliably. To achieve this, the proposed method first detects and localize the human in a given image using Single Shot Multibox Detector (SSD). In the next step, different human body parts namely, Torso, Left Thigh, Right Thigh, that generally contain a Bib number or text region is automatically extracted. These detected individual parts are processed individually to detect the Jersey Bib number/text using a deep CNN network based on the 2-channel architecture based on the novel adaptive weighting loss function. Finally, the detected text is cropped out and fed to a CNN-RNN based deep model abbreviated as CRNN for recognizing jersey/Bib/text. Extensive experiments are carried out on the four different datasets including both bench-marking dataset and a new dataset. The performance of the proposed method is compared with the state-of-the-art methods on all four datasets that indicates the improved performance of the proposed method on all four datasets. © 2019 IEEE.

At present, With the development of technology, the high resolution of millimeter wave (terahertz) can be applied to environmental sensing imaging. In this paper, Using the frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar technique with a 1GHz bandwidth, we show experimentally that a high-resolution real time imaging radar operating at 93.5-94.5GHz is capable of detecting different car models at standoff ranges of 12 m. We also achieved 3D high-resolution imaging of the building. at 140 meters. © 2019 IEEE.

According to the unique characteristics of terahertz (THz) waves, THz imaging has become a hot topic in widely application areas. However, the imaging resolution is constrained by its long wavelength. Generally, the deconvolution is always used to reconstruct the object function. In this paper, a method that combining the classic deconvolution algorithm with the complex-value data processing is investigated. It is posed that the proposed complex-number deconvolution achieves better performance compared to the real-valued deconvolution. © 2019 IEEE.

Generalized zero-shot learning (GZSL) aims to train a model for classifying data samples under the condition that some output classes are unknown during supervised learning. To address this challenging task, GZSL leverages semantic information of the seen (source) and unseen (target) classes to bridge the gap between both seen and unseen classes. Since its introduction, many GZSL models have been formulated. In this review paper, we present a comprehensive review on GZSL. Firstly, we provide an overview of GZSL including the problems and challenges. Then, we introduce a hierarchical categorization for the GZSL methods and discuss the representative methods in each category. In addition, we discuss the available benchmark data sets and applications of GZSL, along with a discussion on the research gaps and directions for future investigations. Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) constitutes an essential and promising paradigm that relies programmable wireless environment and provides capability for space-intensive communications, due to the use of low-cost massive reflecting elements over the entire surfaces of man-made structures. However, accurate channel estimation is a fundamental technical prerequisite to achieve the huge performance gains from RIS. By leveraging the low rank structure of RIS channels, three practical residual neural networks, named convolutional blind denoising network, convolutional denoising generative adversarial networks and multiple residual dense network, are proposed to obtain accurate channel state information, which can reflect the impact of different methods on the estimation performance. Simulation results reveal the evolution direction of these three methods and reveal their superior performance compared with existing benchmark schemes. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. A new based on Semi-supervised classification theory for SAR images in contourlet domain is proposed, in this paper. Attempting to get better and faster performance, the PSO algorithm (Particle swarm optimization algorithm) and contourlet domain is proposed to instead of traditional k-means algorithm. PSO is used to find the global optimum by performing a global search in the whole solution space. And then, contourlet is applied in front of construct the similarity matrix to extract more effective eigenvalues. In section five, the proposed algorithm got better classification results than the traditional k-means algorithm which is proved by experimental results show that in terms of running time, classification accuracy and Kappa coefficient.

—Uncertainty quantification (UQ) plays a pivotal role in the reduction of uncertainties during both optimization and decision making, applied to solve a variety of real-world applications in science and engineering. Bayesian approximation and ensemble learning techniques are two of the most widely-used UQ methods in the literature. In this regard, researchers have proposed different UQ methods and examined their performance in a variety of applications such as computer vision (e.g., self-driving cars and object detection), image processing (e.g., image restoration), medical image analysis (e.g., medical image classification and segmentation), natural language processing (e.g., text classification, social media texts and recidivism risk-scoring), bioinformatics, etc. This study reviews recent advances in UQ methods used in deep learning, investigates the application of these methods in reinforcement learning, and highlight the fundamental research challenges and directions associated with the UQ field.
