This paper investigates the problem of how to carry out 3D scene reconstruction from multiple views. It improves the algorithms of projective reconstruction based on the homography induced by the infinite plane which should have 4 points on a reference plane visible in all views given by Hartley and Rother et al., and proposes a new linear algorithm based on 3 points on a reference plane visible in all views. It avoids the difficult task of determining whether 4 object points are coplanar or not, because 3 points which are not collinear just determine a plane.

The patterns of EEG changes with the mental tasks performed by the subject. In the field of EEG signal analysis and application, the study to get the patterns of mental EEG and then to use them to classify mental tasks has the significant scientific meaning and great application value. But for the reasons of different artifacts contained in EEG, the pattern detection in EEG produced from normal mental states is a very difficult problem. In this paper, independent component analysis is applied to EEG signals collected from different mental tasks .The experiment results show that when one subject performs a single mental task in different trails, the independent components of EEG are very similar. It means that the independent components can be used as the mental EEG patterns to classify the different mental tasks.

It usually needs complicated nonlinear operations to get the characteristics from the raw information inputted, and it is very difficult to find this kind of algorithm directly. The geometrical meaning of the multilayer perceptron's neuron model indicates that classifying samples according to the requirements by constructing neural networks is equal to finding a collection of domains with which vectors of the preset sample sets are partitioned. But in some applications, such as time series forecasting including stock share forecasting, due to their preset sample sets may contain some exceptions and erroneous results, it is desired to introduce some self-adjusting and probabilistic decision-making mechanism to enhance the accuracy of classification. At the same time the mechanism can reduce the size of neural networks and speed up the recognition process. We discuss a self-adjusting and probabilistic decision-making mechanism for the covering algorithm. Based on the method, we developed a self-adjusting and probabilistic decision-making classifier and applied the software package to forecast the share index of Shanghai's stock market.

Knowledge Grid is a platform that enables uniform and effective knowledge sharing and management across the Internet. Based on this platform, this paper proposes a cooperative learning environment KGCL. It supports the knowledge-level cooperation between human and computer, and enables the enrichment of not only the resources in the Knowledge Grid but also the knowledge of users by means of knowledge refinement, knowledge reuse and drawing together online participants. Currently, the prototype of the KGCL has been implemented and is available for use online. Experiments show that the environment can promote the effectiveness of teamwork. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2002.

Panoramic mosaics methods based on 8-paramter planar homography matrix have to overcome the accumulated errors, when a sequence of images loops back on itself. Usual methods are computationally intensive, and can not ensure complete consistency of homographies. This paper presents a simple method, which do not require the consistency of homographies. The method mainly exploits un-calibrated image perspective interpolation technique [1]. So it is of simple calculation and easy realization.

By introducing a discrete Frenet frame, this paper first proposes 3D discrete clothoid splines to extend the planar discrete clothoid splines of Schneider and Kobbelt. On the basis of 3D discrete clothoid spline curves, discrete clothoid spline surfaces for arbitrary meshes are defined as a generalization of their closed discrete clothoid spline surfaces. Moreover, a discrete mean curvature normal operator instead of the conic surface fitting method is employed to compute curvature values. This induces a new iteration algorithm for generating the discrete clothoid spline surfaces. Since the curvature at a vertex is an area average over a region around this vertex and no linear system needs to be settled, the algorithm works more steadily and efficiently. Besides being directly used to produce fair mesh surfaces, the approach can also be employed to smooth control nets of spline surfaces. © 2001 World Scientific Publishing Company.

The 2010 Pacific-Rim Conference on Multimedia (PCM 2010) was held in Shanghai at Fudan University, during September 21–24, 2010. Since its inauguration in 2000, PCM has been held in various places around the Pacific Rim, namely Sydney (PCM 2000), Beijing (PCM 2001), Hsinchu (PCM 2002), Singapore (PCM 2003), Tokyo (PCM 2004), Jeju (PCM 2005), Zhejiang (PCM 2006), Hong Kong (PCM 2007), Tainan (PCM 2008), and Bangkok (PCM 2009). PCM is a major annual international conference organized as a forum for the dissemination of state-of-the-art technological advances and research results in the fields of theoretical, experimental, and applied multimedia analysis and processing. PCM 2010 featured a comprehensive technical program which included 75 oral and 56 poster presentations selected from 261 submissions from Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, Norway, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK, and the USA. Three distinguished researchers, Prof. Zhi-Hua Zhou from Nanjing University, Dr. Yong Rui from Microsoft, and Dr. Tie-Yan Liu from Microsoft Research Asia delivered three keynote talks to the conference. We are very grateful to the many people who helped to make this conference a s- cess. We would like to especially thank Hong Lu for local organization, Qi Zhang for handling the publication of the proceedings, and Cheng Jin for looking after the c- ference website and publicity. Cross-Region Graph Convolutional Network with Periodicity Shift Adaptation for Wide-area SST Prediction

Accurate prediction of sea surface temperature (SST) is of high importance in marine science, benefiting applications ranging from ecosystem protection to extreme weather forecasting and climate analysis. Wide-area SST usually shows diverse SST patterns in different sea areas due to the changes of temperature zones and the dynamics of ocean currents. However, existing studies on SST prediction often focus on small-area predictions and lack the consideration of diverse SST patterns. Furthermore, SST shows an annual periodicity, but the periodicity is not strictly adherent to an annual cycle. Existing SST prediction methods struggle to adapt to this non-strict periodicity. To address these two issues, we proposed the Cross-Region Graph Convolutional Network with Periodicity Shift Adaptation (RGCN-PSA) model which is equipped with the Cross-Region Graph Convolutional Network module and the Periodicity Shift Adaption module. The Cross-Region Graph Convolutional Network module enhances wide-area SST prediction by learning and incorporating diverse SST patterns. Meanwhile, the periodicity Shift Adaptation module accounts for the annual periodicity and enable the model to adapt to the possible temporal shift automatically. We conduct experiments on two real-world SST datasets, and the results demonstrate that our RGCN-PSA model obviously outperforms baseline models in terms of prediction accuracy. This volume presents the accepted papers for the 4th International Conference onGridandCooperativecomputing(GCC2005),heldinBeijing,China,during November 30 – December 3, *** conferenceseries of GCC aims to provide an international forum for the presentation and discussion of research trends on the theory, method, and design of Grid and cooperative computing as well as their scienti?c, engineering and commercial applications. It has become a major annual event in this area. The First International Conference on Grid and Cooperative computing (GCC2002)***2003received550submissions,from which 176 regular papers and 173 short papers were accepted. The acceptance rate of regular papers was 32%, and the total acceptance rate was 64%. GCC 2004 received 427 main-conference submissions and 154 workshop submissions. The main conference accepted 96 regular papers and 62 short papers. The - ceptance rate of the regular papers was 23%. The total acceptance rate of the main conference was 37%. For this conference, we received 576 submissions. Each was reviewed by two independent members of the International Program Committee. After carefully evaluating their originality and quality, we accepted 57 regular papers and 84 short papers. The acceptance rate of regular papers was 10%. The total acc- tance rate was 25%.
